That was horrid defense by Titan. As soon as he saw the roaches at his front door he just needed to throw down another two or three cannons and block with his probes if they try to run past and it is an easy win.
99% of PvZs start with a FE, and 50% of those are Nexus first (in my ladder games, at least).

at least for my part, I nexus first in a ladder game because 6pools arent that common. It's a pain in the ass forge first, so I just go nexus first and write off the game if it's a 6pool. I'm not training for competitions, just enjoying the fun of each game, so I don't mind losing a game or two a week to 6pool.

Mass phoenixes are the only thing that counters mass void rays if you can keep up on air upgrades, and as a result the player who has phoenix superiority controls the ability to make void rays.
If you have mass phoenix, you can build colossus against his ground forces and he can't build a voidray composition to defeat you, because you have phoenixes, and if he builds a colossus composition, you can transition into a voidray composition and destroy his colossi.

also regarding phoenixes, all I can say is thank fuck for range 7, otherwise microing 4.25 speed phoenixes against 4.00 speed mutas would be nearly impossible.

well you are always going to be outnumbered so you have to minimise your phoenix damage otherwise you lose :P

I played BW last night for like, four hours straight. Even playing against the computer is tough, just the challenge of keeping up on macro by itself. It's a lot more fun than SC2, with the sole exception that getting multiplayer up and running is a much bigger pain and finding people my skill level is essentially impossible. Everybody is way way better.

what context is this from?
because its so accurate. you can have six stalkers in your main to defend a drop, which would be enough to defend a marine drop even if you didn't manage to intercept the medivac, but if the hellbats get out you'll need roughly double that amount of stalkers to kill them. and you'll probably still lose ~10 workers.

ugh PvT is so stupid
it only takes one fight to put someone in a dominant position from which the other can never recover.
Terran wins a fight? Protoss won't ever have enough army to out-DPS medivac healing, and certainly won't have any spare army to deal with drops.
Protoss wins a fight? Terran won't have enough army to do any sort of drop harass without risking losing his entire base, so the Protoss can tech and expand with impunity.

I don't think that was the goal of making hellbats bio. I think Blizz had pure mech in mind and tried to make mech drops relevant since you won't be making marine drops, and also beef up the hellion "meatshield" in front of the rest of the mech army. In my opinion.

Nobody adds hellbats to bio because it's dumb, and rarely in mech will you be making medivacs just for your hellbats.
Blizzard seems to have this hardon for people adding hellbats to bio compositions, but nobody is gonna do it.
