Isn't worth a damn in my eyes until exclusive games are announced.

From what I understand the Android Market is a total mess compared to Apple's store, and considering I don't see anything worth playing there, I doubt Android will somehow fill in that gap.

While I'm not sure it'll take off I can see it having a niche market for people who want to play their PC games from their couch. I'd consider it solely for that purpose.

If I am reading this right, you could also use it to play your PC games on your TV with the controller like the PC was a console.

It seems to do just about everything the WiiU Gamepad does only with everything on Steam, and not tied to a 15 foot distance. If it's not priced ridiculously it could be neat for everyone who's hailing "Off TV Play" as a grand new age of gaming,

It's slowly getting better, though it may never reach Apple levels of shine. (Apple's iron handed control of their store does have its perks I suppose.)

Still, I'm not so sure about this, I like it, but I think tablet gaming is probably the next big wave, no one really wants to be carting around controllers for devices meant to be mobile.

I've asked for one to review from NVidia, like Allforce said, it seems like it could be like the gamepad but for the PC, and I love my gamepad even though I only have two games that work with it at the moment.

My PC monitor is a TV and I have a USB controller right here. This doesn't seem too appealing.

Not to mention Steam's big screen stuff will make this a possibliy for anyone with a TV and generic controller

At least it's less stupid than the Ouya.

Fragmenting the Android base of games into more and more niches doesn't seem like it'll work. Maybe I'm wrong.

Not saying this thing is going to take off, but not everyone has your setup. A good deal of people don't have their PCs in the same room as their TVs.

I'm hesitant to say there will be any demand for the Shield, but I could totally see the streaming part taking off if they allow companies to license that tech to other devices. I would pay upwards of $100 to have a box that wirelessly streams games from my PC and has a wireless controller comparable to the 360 controller (and possibly support for wireless keyboard and mouse via USB dongle).

The big news here isn't that they're making a handheld, it's that they have the tech to turn your PC into a game streaming device.

Yes, but this is a good option for those people who can't/don't want to put their gaming pc in the living room, or run a a few long cables, or buy a second PC.

What I really hope is that they release a cheap dongle like device that has an hdmi out, and a usb port or two on it, that could do all the streaming from pc and then just use any usb controller like a 360 one. without needing the shield as a middle-man in the whole setup.

As it is right now wireless hdmi setups run about $150-200, plus whatever you might need to extend the usb receiver range for the controller.

It looks good, but may run hot on the controller if that's where the mobile graphics card is.

Also, whats wrong with the 3ds? Even the Vita looks more practical.

I already have a 3DSXL, A Vita, and an Evo3D, but if this works exactly as advertised I will without question get one and use it for all its intended purposes. Though that's the very optimistic side of things. I like the idea of being able to play Borderlands 2 in bed. Also being able to PROPERLY play all my Android games would be worth it to me, considering I was seriously looking at the Moga, before I tried one of those demo stations and realized it felt like shit in the hand.

I honestly would consider this because there are times I'd like to be able to hang out in the living room with my wife while she watches TV and not be sequestered in the office all the time. Right now I just use my tablet to browse the web or whatever but if I could get some PC gaming time in that'd be pretty great.

I do play my 3ds sometimes but this allows me to change rooms and keep playing the game I am currently on.

Streaming is the only real thing going for it, but didn't it have pretty horrific input lag in the conference?

Mind you, it'd probably work better in front of the couch but I don't know.

We also got a chance to see Project Shield's PC game streaming functionality — arguably one of its most alluring features. When combined with a gaming PC on a shared local network, Project Shield can remotely access any game you own, allowing you to stream and play HD games directly on the device. The company demoed Borderlands 2 running in realtime on the Shield from alongside a PC in the same room, demonstrating the low-latency streaming between the two devices. The game ran as if it was being processed and rendered right on the handheld. There was no recognizable lag between when commands were entered on the device and when they were reflected on the screen.

    Sounds good to me.

Also I was laughing when reading comments elsewhere from people slamming this thing saying it had horrible streaming lag based on what they saw from Hawken "streaming from PC" being completely oblivious to the fact that it was actually a quick demo build thrown together powered completely by the device to show off the Tegra 4. There was no streaming in that demo, people were just inventing reasons to hate on it.
