    Bangs? Any examples?

Do you have an oily forehead?

I tend to be a greasebucket in that area, so I stick to sideswept bangs to keep them off my skin

If you're not concerned about that straight bangs can be super cute

  • SassoriSassori Registered User regular
I cannot do bangs. They are a mess on me and I know I would not take the time to keep them from sticking all over the place.

My hair tends to curl when it gets shorter.

i'm never sure on these things, but from the pics you shared, i'd guess you have an oblong face shape, and these were some styles recommended for such that i thought looked good:

cyborg eye! or i guess it could just be heterochromia, whatever

the key here seems to be layers, and especially with the longer styles, texture/waviness.

clearly, the swoop/side bang is favored. let's see if i can hunt down a good-lookin' straight bang.

credit where it's due, the girl looks good:

As crazy as buying $200 anything else.

Do you like the look of them and do you think that they will last you a long time?

    Nothing. Matters.

Ones I like a lot and am confident in likin

Ive never really worn sunglasses because I haven't wanted to shell out for ones I've liked, and it's reached the point of the irresponsible, has almost certainly damaged my eyesight

I guess I'm just of two minds and I gotta come down on one side or the other

if you like 'em and want 'em then get 'em

my experience is that once your brain is settled on something like that it's real hard to talk yourself out of it or settle for an alternative

'cause you always come back to that thing you really want and it itches

In regards to the body-image stuff...I used to feel pretty bad about not looking like those super-skinny, leggy-forever ladies in magazines, until I realized that I'm 5' 4" and due to my frame and height, it was literally impossible for me to look that way.

And rather than making me sad, that epiphany actually made me feel relieved, because I realized all the pressure was off me to look like that.

buying clothing you really super like is important, because when you wear it you get a huge confidence boost
    just don't go overboard

i understand what viv was trying to say u3u the fashion industry picks out ultra thin people and then photoshops them to be even longer and skinnier than they already are, and its not really fair to any one, thin of otherwise! basically, beauty standards blow

I think you likely have more economic means than me.

But after having spent a majority of my life never wearing sunglasses, and always squinting. I finally, after getting into riding, conceded and picked up a pair of polarizing 649 style Persol's the particular lens color (light-orange for improved cloudy/foggy weather visibility) I wanted was exclusive to Italy, I had to import them, they ended up costing me close to $230, and I don't regret it at all.

They are quite functional, I wear them practically every day, and they fit under my motorcycle helmet perfectly (I ruled out a shaded visor, because I go out when it's sunny, but come back after sunset a lot).

Buy whatever sunglasses you'd be happy with, don't skimp and get non-polzaring lenses, polarizing is awesome for situations in which you necessarily have to maintain the sun in your field of vision (driving, riding). Don't look back and never sit on em.

I always tear my sunglasses up, so I tend to buy $15-30 ones, but I have been thinking about getting some prescription Warby Parkers.

If you can swing two hundo and think you'll take care of them, I think some nice sunglasses are a good investment. Are they prescription?

The whole "real women have curves" thing annoys me, though I understand and can even agree with some of the the sentiments behind it. It's still buying into the notion that womanhood is defined by ones body, and how close or far you are to an ideal that someone else defined.

$200 isn't a crazy amount to spend on sunglasses provided they're high quality and will last, and you don't misplace them. Some think that's way too much because they lose theirs repeatedly. My last two pairs were both over $100 but the first pair lasted about a decade and the current pair are about 4 years old and still in good shape.
Just take good care of your shit.

    yeah, thats definitely true, its just that im super frustrated at how there's pretty much only one beauty standard and its one that isnt even realistic in most cases! I dont want to sound like any body is a 'wrong' or 'fake' body though, sorry if it came off like that ;w;

    pretty much this

i previously bought cheap shades cause I always forgot them or messed them up, but I spend 250 on my ray bans and have taken care of them for the last 4 years.

They finally had an accident. I had them in my passenger seat and forget, invited a friend for lunch and he sat right on them. Luckily I took them to an eye store in the mall and they fixed them for me, but before I took it in I thought they were done for.

Yeah, for what it's worth a middle-weight acetate frame pair of sunglasses, can take a lot more punishment than ultra-light titanium aviators like the classic Ray-Bans.

I can see these Persols having a couple decades-long life based on the sort of accidents I've had handling them. Whereas the first pair of fancy sunglasses I had ended up sheaered at the hinge the first time I misplaced them and sat on em

I'm really hard on glasses I've only worn them for a couple years and I've lost one pair (only after beating them to hell) and completely lost a lense in another, not to mention all the clip-ons I've misplaced and mangled. I like the look and comfort of wire half-frames, but I think I would like something more durable for everyday wear. Big thick acetate frames would be durable and also harder to misplace, but I don't really like the look all that much. Like, they'd be okay for work and stuff, but they feel out of place with nice clothes.

I still have a current prescription so I'll probably use Zenni or CostCo or something dirt cheap like that so maybe I'll get two pair? If they weren't for everyday, I might try rimless for the second.

Hahaha I'm glad I wasn't awake for the last few pages.

I have never liked my body, period. I wish I could be like Liiya and have my self-esteem fixed by a caring dude in a relationship but that doesn't work for me unfortunately. No matter what Annie says, every time I look in the mirror I see a skeleton and I hate it.

Is it easy to shop for clothes, yeah usually. I guess I don't consider that a bonus to combat the "do you have an eating disorder" that's been the last 2 decades of my life. I even got it when I was 10.

Anyway, I guess that's why I don't really post my outfits in the thread or anything. I just know that someone is going to look at my chicken legs or my collarbone and think its disgusting. And, to be fair, I think they are disgusting, but I try to be the only one who has a chance to criticize myself if possible. No reason to put myself out there like that.

This post totally wasn't necessary, but its typed out and I'm hitting post. Cool.

I guess I am gonna go ahead and say I also don't post pics in here because the same reason from opposite ends, and sometimes it is hard to be in here or I just bow out for the day because sometimes the thread turns into "gosh I can't wear that because I look like a disgusting fatty" because someone has two ounces of body fat that they don't like. But I try not to take it too personally because culturally we've all been taught to shit on each other all the time and it's just instinctive at this point that you aren't allowed to feel like you're pretty or awesome, you're only allowed to think you're better than someone else, if that makes sense. I dunno I had a far more coherent thought in my mind but I spent some time with my boyfriend and now it's less focused.

I think that thin girls look just as nice as thicker girls. Also, athletic girls! Athletic ladies also seem to get a lot of hate for having any muscle on them whatsoever.

    disagree button

I love my transitions to death. they come out to be way cheaper than buying separate pairs of prescription glasses and sunglasses, and it means I only have one pair to keep track of

the only time they annoy me is on cold days because they don't lighten up as quickly
