a friend of mine came to me with this problem. but i am unable to help. partially because i buy whatever is on sale/feels good but mostly because he is clearly insane. he sent it to me with permission to post and ask where ever i see fit.
so i am looking into buying white t-shirts as my entire collection of
them seems to have gone missing. white undershirts to wear to work
and under button up shirts. i went to 5 stores yesterday jotting down
the prices and running the per shirt cost from all of them. a friend
recommended jockey undershirts but they seem to carry a premium over
standard stuff like hanes and fruit of the loom
i am looking at various online stores and noticed this policy at the
one recommended by various online sites..
Handling Fees: Due to our low wholesale Mark Ups, All orders incur a
$2.95 Box/Tape Charge. Also, Orders under $50 incur a $7 Handling Fee;
Over $50, yet under $100, incur a $3 Handling Fee. All will appear on
your final invoice under the title of HANDLING.
that puts the per shirt charge up to $3.75 if i go with an 8 shirt
selection of 2 each on 4 different shirts.
is a $3.75 per shirt cost any good? i am going to go need to
look around more, maybe tomorrow go out to places like wal mart. i
was still in the sub $3 range before they pulled that on me on the
last step.
during the calculations today its estimated that jockey shirts to be at
$4.++ a shirt, correct? about $4.90.
do you have some advice to give on this?
going the cheap route, with a wal mart selection..
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5673621
with the 7% sales tax i come up with $4.20 a shirt, that is cheaper
than the premium jockey stuff in our first example on the phone but
still puts it above the per shirt cost from online.

If he wants a truckload of shirts, that is.
I was actually going to reccomend that site, the shipping fees aren't that bad and the people call you right away after you order. Great service, I needed the shirts for silk screening and they were all fine, though he should check to make sure they're the weight that he wants them (for undershirts) because the one exampled there looked a bit thick.
