It's impossible to sell gear right now, wait till after the patch.
Why would it be easier to sell after the patch? whats in the patch?
More people playing again.
Though with the gear changes, it may be more difficult to sell some stuff.
Anything major to note? I haven't checked out patch notes yet.
I think 1.0.8 is bringing better rare drops with tighter stat ranges. So instead of rolling 1-100 for strength, it would be 75-100. Not 100% sure though.
Besides, a Tal ammy with crit can beat trifectas because of the huge int roll and free elemental damage. Only the near perfect rolls outshine Tal's ammy, but those are obviously not nearly as affordable.
Speaking of which I checked the prices on a 7% crit tal's ammy and you can get them for 12m now; crazy. Last I checked it was 80m or something.

I just sold a Vile Ward that I bought for 40 mil for $9.99. I say it's still easier to flip items, and it only takes like 30 minutes to compare prices between gold/RMAH and then buy/sell a full list.
Evaluating gear on the AH is essential to improve your character for the lowest possible cost. Example, I have these two rings:
Which one gives more paper DPS? (Hint: it's not the trifecta)
There might even be a case that the first ring is better for CM Wizards, since it has high LoH.
Ares, a Wizard with the highest unbuffed DPS in Europe, uses a Tal ammy without IAS.
Trifectas are overrated.
Base damage on rings is very overlooked stat for DPS. For example look at the Oculus I have equipped on my char. The only Oculus rings that do more damage than the crazy base damage roll on mine are ones with 6% CC (which I need to upgrade to when I can grab one cheap).
May not be so overlooked once people are able to directly see the effect of an item on their dps etc in the new patch.
I changed some stuff around and blew about 300M on upgrades. Now packing over 300k dps (with BR). If I can somehow roll a decent hellfire ring I will be very happy. That and getting a nice crit mempo of course.

is that 300k with wotb also on, because if not that is ridiculous
No - that's simply with Battle Rage (which since it is on all the time is a reasonable assessment). No Wotb or anything else. Its also with my crap hellfire. When I do ubers I swap that out for a much better ring...
Need to shop around for a decent 5-6% crit zuni's vision, don't really want to trade blackthorn's for a witching hour, and a higher CC tal's ammy is way outside my budget. Not sure where to go next.

250-300k DPS buffed is what I run with as well. WOTB up I saw 650k-700k DPS last night I think.
Wow - I haven't used WoTB for a long time. That would be interesting to see...
5 Stacks of Frenzy also raises the dps quite a bit higher than 300k too.
Yeah I'm talking buffed with 5 stacks of Frenzy puts me around 250k... Add Brawler's 30% and its above 300k. WOTB more than doubles that number... Have to check to see how high I can get it to peak at.

I used to run Brawler. I should put that back in. It would work really well on high MP with Ground Stomp/Wrenching smash which draws all the mobs in close. I wasn't counting Frenzy or anything else like that in the 300k but it would be interesting to see what I could get dps to peak at.
Incidentally if anyone has the annoying problem that I have had a couple of times of items purchased on the gold AH not showing up in your completed items (and clearing completed items, switching between gold and RMAH, re-logging etc doesn't work) I did find a fix - basically just do an AH search of items with a max buy out of 1k gold. Start buying stuff. Usually takes no more than 5 or 6 purchases and it eventually shows up.
If you are reading this add me.

Yay. Spending half an hour on the AH to upgrade some items and I can beat Inferno MP4 Butcher! Of course, going from 40k to 90-100k DPS should probably make this unsurprising.
You would think the players selling the gems would up the price of them because they're in high demand? Or am I stupid?
*Edited to not sound mean.
The pool of gold buyers is drying up. So, people are trying to cash out gold (through gems), meaning excess gems on the market, meaning prices drop. The demand isn't necessarily high, and the supply could be excessive right now.

I've never been a heavy min/maxer but I want to start upping the ol' DPS. How should I be gearing up? Also are there any particular builds I should be gearing for?

More idiots too, though. Definitely a net gain.

you are presenting a false dichotomy based on your budget. a truly endgame DPS ring would have big int, avg dmg, crit, CHD, and IAS
yo matz why you gotta do so much damage for
why you making me look like a chump

like this guy
That's nice. Now how is that going to help him improve his Wizard?
You're like the guy who recommends crafting a godly ammy over getting a Mara's or a 2/20/2 crafted circlet over a Shako.

I don't even know what I'd need to do to get my WD up to 200K damage unbuffed:
