In a left-field announcement, Nintendo has revealed a new collaboration with Atlus: Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. A brief trailer shown during a Nintendo Direct presentation didn't offer many details, showing only characters from both games as well as the rather self-explanatory title.
Presumably, the characters from each series will fight it out for ultimate supremacy. In other words, your Trapper Keeper doodles are about to come to life. Further details, it seems, will have to wait.
That was why I liked Wind Waker so much. It felt like an open world even though it kinda wasn't. Haven't played Skyward Sword yet, so I dunno how open world it is, but my ultimate dream is a Zelda that approaches (though not all the way, for sure) some level of Skyrim open world-ness.
Kotaku is being fucking gooses, that is totally Xenoblade 2. There's a big red X and also it looks like it plays exactly like Xenoblade.
It's like showing a trailer starring Link swinging his sword and throwing his boomerang and ending it with a big Z and going "GEE I WONDER WHAT THIS NEW GAME IS".
The guy at the end even sort of looks a bit like Shulk and it might be him (unless stuff happens at the end of Xenoblade 1, I haven't finished it so no spoilers)
Oh my gosh, you guys, Ni No Kuni arrived yesterday and it is aces. Jrpg from studio ghibli and level 5 (dark cloud series, rogue galaxy) and you collect monsters like Pokemon? Yes please! Also your sidekick has a ridiculous Scottish accent and you are a boy wizard like Harry potter and the first like 30 minutes delivers a gut punch emotional scene of loss and I am so sold. Dunno where else to talk about it, but anyone else get it?
Yeah I'll have to pick up a Wii U at some point just for Wind Waker HD and the new Monolith game
I'm not super wowed by the visuals in that Monolith trailer though. It looks pretty and all, but also much more grungy than Xenoblade. I kinda liked the very slightly cartoon-y look of Xenoblade, shifting more into realism is not where I want that company's visual design to go.
That said, there are some environments in Xenoblade which look pretty banal compared to the rest of the game, and this could easily be such a situation.

Look man, all the uk accents sound the same to me. But seriously, the game I alike if the Japanese wrote Harry potter and let you play it as a vidjagame. Literally gushing about it here

Seems like the WiiU really launched at the wrong time.
If it had come out with even half of the shit that Nintendo dropped today, I don't think people would have been nearly as down on it. It seems really odd that games of this magnitude are being announced months later, and won't be realized until 6-12 months into the console's life cycle.

My going rates as a babysitter start at cupcakes and beer. But I'd do it!
Also, this seems to be the same reaction that the wii got. A subpar reaction at first, then everyone saw the new nintendo stalwarts and got all excited, and then after that there was little to no third party support of the system and it was a disappointment.
Now, I mean, for some people that's totally enough for the cost of the system, which is fine.

@lostwords Yeah I got my copy yesterday too! I only played the first couple hours (up to getting the amulet and shit from Old Man Oak)
The gameplay is pretty solid JRPG territory, but it seems like there's a LOT of room for it to grow into something pretty special, once you acquire teammates and more familiars. The story and art style is what sold me on the game months ago, and so far has not let me down in the slightest. Paying $60 for a 50-hour interactive Studio Ghibli movie is something I will never regret, I think.
