I was wondering, anyone going to the dinner staying at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers? If so, could we split a cab? I'm deathly afraid of being stranded in an unfamiliar city in a foreign country, you see... But with other people, i wouldn't have that problem

Boston has a pretty intuitive subway system. here's a T map if you need some help getting around.

fiddlesticks, i did not think that through... i don't have international data at all, I was going to rely on the wifi at the convention center and at the hotel... getting in touch might be harder than it could be.

Well, like I said it's not too tricky a thing, there's only one train. I think that bridge takes pedestrian traffic, even, so you could walk it too, if you're nervous about the subway. It's less than two miles.

Alternatively we could just text. I don't know your carrier but I can't imagine the roaming costs being prohibitive for a dozen roaming SMS messages.

thanks for keeping me posted. i really appreciate it. i don't think it will be a problem, however the division tables may be more than i initially thought. we are a pretty small dining room and not many "free-standing" tables that can be moved around. i think there will still be 3 large tables, then i will probably have to put 6 people at our large round booth. you will all be close to one another in the same area. i hope this is fine. thank you again for choosing us and i look forward to meeting you Friday.

so because of the size of our group the tables might not be exactly contiguous

Anyone staying at a hotel within walking distance of the convention center? I was thinking about bringing our nice clothes to your place so we could change/go all at once. Our hotel is across the river and another $30 round trip I'd like to avoid just to change clothes.

I have been fretting about this for months

The only solution i can think of is to not have tables at all, and have dinner in a bumper car stadium where we can bump against the people we like while t-boning the outcasts
