Crazy Video Game and Music idea

Hey guys, i have this weird idea but i dont know if it's that good. So basically we play retro video games on a big projection, plug audio into a big PA system, then have a band or music improvisors jam along to the music. Its actually pretty fun if you try it (even though it looks really geeky). I am very nervous about it because I think it's a cool idea, but i don't know if people will get it or if no one will show up. Any kind of help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You need to edit out the identifying information in your post or it's just an advertisement and we don't allow that.

I went to see a live, open-air showing of the newest cut of Metropolis with a live soundtrack by a trip-hop group. It was enjoyable, and there were a lot of people, but it was also well promoted and I mean, it's a new cut of Metropolis. I know there are always ads up for showing of Kid A + Nosferatu and Dark Side of the Moon + Wizard of Oz (though I think I see more Nosferatu showing these days), so people will see that type of stuff, even if there's liberal drug use involved.

You can take the route that most beginning fighting game tournament organizers go and do as much promotion as you can way before the event and get as many RSVPs as possible so that you have a general idea of who is interested and how many will show up before your deadline to get the venue and players set in stone.

Are you thinking of a straight performance (like the video) where the crowd watches, or are you wanting people to play the games while a band plays?

thanks for the advice, guys! I want people to play the games while a band plays, because it makes it a little more challenging for the band to keep up with certain games (it might be ridiculous) but I also plan on having set songs or videos to play with (like speed run videos, or the using the donkey kong country 2's music test).

This might be a better "found" event than stage performance. Setup somewhere public, like a park, where people can walk up or away or not as they like. While I probably wouldn't go to a concert like this in a million years, if I encountered this out and about I would likely stay and watch for hours and probably donate some money to keep it going.
