I've got the Wii version of Disney Infinity, and I can't figure out how to get online. Any suggestions?
The Wii version lacks the online functionality, unfortunately.
Dang it....wish they had stated that on the Disney Infinity website. I looked, and I thought the only thing the Wii version lacked was support for two players in the non-Toy Box adventures
EDIT: Now I'm really miffed. I looked on the Disney Infinity website, and saw no mention of the Wii lacking online support. And, the downloadable toy boxes look really fun I chose the Wii version because I didn't want to spend money on an Xbox Live account.
I wonder...if the Wii U is backwards compatible, would getting it allow me to play online without having to get another starter set?

Is this really surprising though? It is always buyer beware when online play/functionality and Nintendo meet.

Well, unfortunately even if you ran the Wii software on the Wii U, it's still limited to the Wii software features.
If you have a Wii U though, definitely return your Wii copy for a Wii U one.
I have a tendency to scratch packs when I'm at a store these days, just for the heck of it.
I found two rare packs at my local Wal-Mart today but I didn't buy 'em because I'm so close to a full set that I don't want to get any more duplicates.
The exclusive stuff really turns me off the game. It does not encourage me to shop at a specific store, instead it encourages me to throw my hands in the air and accept I will not own it all.
*living in Australia we only really get 1 (terrible) retailer that does the exclusive thing and we end up missing out on a bunch of stuff as a result.
I have now finished all the current sets, Pirates/Incredibles and Lone Ranger were most fun for me. Still missing half the wave one power discs.
Now to spend some time with the toybox, and level up characters to make my hall of heroes all pretty.
I went to the Fantasia: Music Evolved panel today at PAX and got this thing:
Reverse side text: Enclosed is your exclusive Disney Infinity Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey figure, which will work with the game when it launches on Aug 18, 2013. This is 1 of 5,000 figures created for the D23 Expo and is not available in stores until 2014. Place this Disney Infinity figure onto the Base and unlock it in the Toy Box mode to create new and exciting adventures. Additional information can be found at Disney.com/Infinity.
I guess my question is, is this game worth it? I really hadn't paid any attention to Skylanders/Infinity, such that I don't even know what the gameplay is like.
Also found out a neat tidbit. the D23 5000 of them have silver stars on the hat. the release ones will have white instead. this makes no difference in game.

I am so jealous right now.
As for the games worth, It really depends....
It is a collection of average-to-decent Disney themed tie-in games. each between 5 to 9 hours long (maybe longer if you are a completionist)
Usually involving light platforming, some easy combat, racing, collection and similar events.
There is also a editor mode where you can make your own levels or virtual playgrounds and then share them online. (I suspect this is where the games staying power will show itself)
One neat feature is the Toybox levels you make in the editor can be shared between platforms, so make a level on the PS3 and someone on the 360 can play it.
If you have kids, or even someone you can play with who likes the various Disney universes then there is quite a bit of fun to be had here.
*Note that to play co-op within a playset you will require a extra character purchase due to the restrictive nature of characters only being able to interact with their own universe i.e. Mr Incredible can not play in the Pirates playset (toybox mode is an exception to this and is a free for all as far as charcters go)
Yeah I forgot to mention the figures are pretty great, larger and imo nicer painted than the Skylanders ones.
They did a fantastic job unifying the figures into one stylised art style while still managing to have each world remain unique graphically.
Interesting bit of info I heard from one of the devs.
Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey is the most guarded piece of Disney IP. When they approached Disney about adding him, they immediately said he had to be a park exclusive figure. This went back and forth for awhile until they finally came to a decision on it. Also he is the most powerful character in the game.

Hi5! I got one at the same panel. It was under the empty seat behind me, I just moved my seat and snatched it for the hell of it before someone else could. Looks like it goes for about 75-100 bucks on eBay.

If that's true, that likely means that we won't end up seeing any Park Exclusive figures at all. Which, yay.

Beat the Pirates Playset... it didn't seem to unlock anything as far as I could tell tho At this point I'm just trying to finish up the challenges (I apparently have at least one more.. gotta see if I can find it) and then get the dumb star for sailing for 2 hours :P
I really wish there was some way to tell if I am missing capsules. I don't think there is, at least as far as I can see. I suspect I'm missing at least one ship part...

I just wandered into that panel for shits and giggles because I had nothing else to do and John Drake cracked me up at the Giant Bomb panel the night before (where they threw entire Disney Infinity starter sets into the crowd, and people won the Sorcerer Mickey statues for twerking on Brad Shoemaker). Was interesting to see what they're doing with Fantasia, seeing a live demo of it really explained the game better than any press release so far.
Pretty sure you only get an achievement for "finishing" a playset, the unlocks are all in capsules or locked behind the multi-character doors.
Well it's Wii U, so I don't even get that :P
If you go into the Vault, I think it is, where it shows your entire set of toys, when you highlight one, it tells you where its from, so you should be able to check that to see if there's one in the Pirate section of toys that is still grayed out. And it might actually give you a rough area to find it in.

Yeah, in completely random order and no sorting options. Again, this game has shit UI

Really? Huh. I thought for sure it was sorted by set. Guess I never looked at it very closely.

Nah, it's sorted in some order, but not really sure what. They seem to put "like" things together, so like, buildings are together, trees, cars, etc. Which makes sense but it spreads everything around.
What I hate though is that it's one giant menu. If I want to find, say, a teleporter, I have to scroll through 20 pages of crap to find which one has the teleporter on it. Why not have the ability to filter? Like, show me just the special function stuff, or whatever.
So the toys and vehicles that you "unlock" via the hex shaped power discs.... are they really only unlocked while the disc is sitting on the base?
I can not find for example Mickeys Car anywhere in the editor despite getting the message "unlocked in the Toybox"
Pretty horrible system if that is the case, also means you can only use 1 of those particular toys at a time?
The textures seem to unlock fine, just the toys/vehicles seem to be missing.
I thought I read that the vehicles/weapons from the discs will spawn 2 of an item?
Also, was at my local TRU yesterday. I noticed that they were setting up shelf space for Infinity near the front of the store. Probably to coincide with the trading event.

Sucks, I am going to be out of town this weekend so I can't go to the Toys R Us thing. Which wouldn't bother me so much except that I really want that exclusive disk and they will be sure to be gone by the time I get back

I can pick you up one if you'd like me to.
Edit: Alternatively, you'll be able to buy 'em online.

It seems a bit baffling to us here, but the number of families with Wii consoles are huge, so it'd be stupid not to have a Wii SKU ready to go.
And isn't the Wii the best-selling console in regards to Skylanders, or I misremembering that?

Yeah the best I can get is Silver. The pig is crazy unruly to control.
Side note, I think Pirates may be my new favorite playset. Ship combat is super fun.
Yeah I've been having a ton of fun in the pirates set.
