You guys are making it very hard for me not to get this game!
I can't afford to.
Also @Allforce, living in Florida suck when it comes to conventions. I'm really hoping next year to make the jaunt to Pax East...but we'll see if I can pull it off.

I wouldn't have picked it up if it wasn't for sales. The multitude of sales took what would have been a $250 investment and took it down to around $150.
It's possible that this 2nd exclusive power disc won't sell out right away. Everyone should know now that each pack will have 1, and that it will be the same disc in every pack.
Alternatively, it'll be common as dirt when Wave 2 of the power discs come out.

Are we definitely positive that the TRU exclusive discs are going to pop up later down the line in the standard series? I'm getting mixed messages online.

As far as I understand, all of the TRU exclusive disks are Wave 2 disks. However, the TRU disks have lenticular fronts (i.e. "rare style" disks) which I assume will not be the case with the actual Wave 2 versions, thus making them still unique (i.e. like Crystal Lightning McQueen compared to regular Lightning McQueen)

Hmm. In that case maybe I'll just forget about the TRU exclusive discs since they appear identical in the game...I dunno.
Well, looks like Wave 2 of the power discs come out November 26.
Hmm...and there was a Wal-Mart ad about Woody being released December 1.
I wouldn't be surprised to see that be the main release date for the next wave, excepting the timed exclusives of course.
So assuming there's another three month gap between wave 2 and wave 3, I guess we'll see wave 3 around late February/early March, and then Disney Infinity 2 around June or July of next year.
Working on the Pirates playset...going back to find some of these capsules is going to be a pain... the overworld in this one seems huge and confusing.

One thing that really helps with the pirates playset is if you climb up to the crows nest on the ship you can see the names of the islands around you.
really helped with navigation having one person on the wheel and the other up in the nest when they weren't manning the cannons.

That's how M'Lady Sif and I have been doing it, since the boat takes up a lot of real estate in split screen. I've been manning the wheel as Barbossa, while she acts as lookout and shoots cannons (usually at nothing) as Jack Sparrow.
"Arrrrr, I told ye it was my ship, Jack."
Fake Edit; Is there anyway to make the camera "free roam" while you're piloting the ship, like in Assassin's Creed III? I don't care for how it "snaps" around to the four directions.

I actually think finding the capsules and stuff in Pirates seems way easier, because there are only a finite number of places for them to be. Like, you can pick an island and make sure you've gotten all the capsules there, and then you know you don't need to go back there. This vs. Incredibles or Monsters or whatever, where it's one giant open world and it's a lot harder to separate sections to make sure you've cleared everything in them. In fact, Pirates in general seems better because it doesn't have crazy stuff like cars or hang gliders which means all the challenges are pretty easy to get on Hard since they are all collecting or fighting on foot (except a couple on the rowboat, but those are pretty easy still).
If you had to assume, would you think you'd be able to load any work from PS3 to PS4?
If not, my little brother also has a 360 so if I bought for Xbox I could always send his way when I inevitably had to buy it for PS4.

Toy Box, you are a curious beast. So much potential; so many roadblocks from arbitrary restrictions and hardware limitations.
AI enemies can be assigned to player teams - brilliant. But 8 enemies max out the meter in an empty toy box. Good luck making Disney Dota with that. 40 smaller enemies fit, but I don't think they can be assigned teams.
Why can't the Trigger Area intersect boundaries of other objects? Maddening when this invisible trigger isn't even clipping the geometry of the object in question. Severely limiting for such a useful tool.
I hope the PC Toy Box editor is solid, if I could duplicate objects (including their connections) or select/move multiple objects it would be a massive improvement. Watching the developers' tutorials and seeing them wrestle with the UI, the room for improvement is pretty apparent.
Sigh, I did it again; endless bitching and moaning. Ironically, it's because I love the game and its potential, therefore it's worth taking the time to gripe about. That makes sense.. right?

All your toybox stuff is tied to your Disney account. Not sure how the characters would transfer (if logged in using the same account).

So I was looking and saw there were new Disney toy boxes out. One of them was titled "Toy Columbia". Yes... a toy box version of Columbia from Bioshock Infinite. And it is absolutely amazing. I can't believe how good it is. It's freaking huge and you can take rails all around it (I then proceeded to use the Nemo skybox on it to make it into Rapture! Mwahahaha!)
Edit: Damn, looking at all the possible power disk slots in Hall of Heroes, there is a Wall-E skybox/ground combo. WTF, why isn't that in wave 1!? Bah! I wants it!

I completely agree with this. I was messing with the Trigger Area and was blown away at it not being able to be put anywhere. Not being able to make the sidescrolling/overhead camera stay in a certain place hurts those types of games. You can't even set boundaries that players can't cross to keep them on track.
The UI is VERY unintuitive. Pretty disappointing since it could've made the game pretty great. Still a fun game, but could've been a whole lot better.

Yeah I tried to do the SMB1 toybox level and proceeded to repeatedly fall off the world, over and over, to the point that I could not get back up because apparently I landed on some random platform in the background that was jutting out, and dying would bring me back there. Yeah... no invisible walls is pretty fail.
I'm super considering getting this. I thought Skylanders was super simplistic though, which is the only thing that's making me hold off.

I'd compare the Pirates playset (which is all I've played so far) to the Traveller's Tales Lego Pirates of the Caribbean game, with Assassin's Creed III's ship combat thrown in. Light platforming and combat, with lots of exploration and smashing crates for coins.
I've seen them on sale at various places every week. Best bet is to find a good sale and pick up what you want then. I went to like four different stores when it came out to take advantage of various sales :P (i.e. Toys R Us for Crystal Lightning McQueen + the sale on power disks, Target for 1/2 price playsets, walmart.com ad match at Best Buy for cheap 3-packs, and Nebraska Furnature Mart's buy 2 get 1 free on figures :P)
As I recall, Toys R Us currently has some decent sales going on.
Playsets are sold in stores in a package like this. Basically it's two figures and a playset token.
When you place the token on the infinity base it unlocks the playset content that's already on the disc.
So far there's only a "The Lone Ranger" playset along with a "Cars" playset, available for purchase, with only one more, a "Toy Store in Space" playset announced for release later this year.
Playsets based on Monsters University, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Incredibles are in the starter kit. Those are unlocked with a "starter kit" playset token which unlocks all three.
