To be fair, toy box only characters are a waste and not entirely representative. Which is a problem itself. I'm sure I'm not the only parent who picked up a base kit, anna, and elsa, got home, unboxed everything, and then upon starting it up ran into the problem of "what the fuck do I do with this?" Because out of the box, you can't do anything with that setup, and even after playing through the playsets all you can really do is run minigames and play around with building stuff in the toybox with those characters.

I eventually had to go back to the store the same day and get a sidekick pack for 30 bucks so the girls could play coop, which honestly sucks. And as it stands anna and elsa were still a total waste of money.

2.0 supposedly fixes this problem with more 'generic' content not keyed to a franchise, but we'll see.

They should just allow characters to cross over into each others' worlds. That's really what everyone wants.

2.0 looks like it'll have sort of that. It has level discs that are like mini games that it looks like anyone can go into.

Talking to the guy showing the game at PAX, there's really limited crossovers, like Iron Man can show up in GOTG, since he works with them in the comics. But you're not going to see Captain Jack in the Frozen universe.

Yea, sadly it could've been pretty awesome, but kind of falls flat on its face. I was excited for the building stuff, but it just isn't what I was hoping. There are basically no objectives for free play. And the stuff you can play/make just isn't interesting enough to hold your attention.

I was very excited to unlock the Epcot ball (Spaceship Earth) since I used to work in that park and then once I did I was severely underwhelmed. You can't even go into the attractions. Hell, they could've let you go into the attractions and either a) had pre-built worlds b) let you build on a new slate, so people can walk into it and explore c) had pre-built games inside them d) had pre-built the actual attraction and just let you ride it. Instead, you get a ramp that goes under the big ball. ZzZzZz.

I plan to try and get whatever achievements I can in 1.0 and then sell everything (minus Ralph because I like Ralph). Then I'll buy myself the Stitch figure somehow (because I think it is a part of a starter pack?) and Venom to display and that is all.

I pretty much agree, hopefully they will expand things in 2.0, if not it'll probably get a quick playset playthrough with the girls and a few of the figures I'll get for shelf ornaments.

Honestly the figures are pretty good by themselves, a bit pricey for no articulation, though not really that much compared to 3.5 inch figures of similar quality.

    Just posting some info.

    Buy 2.0 digitally for $29.99.
Starting on November 4, fans will have the option to digitally download Toy Box 2.0 on their PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Wii U systems and utilize their existing Disney Infinity base, along with all figures and Power Discs from the first edition in this all-new Toy Box. The download will be available on PlayStation Network, Xbox Store and the Nintendo eShop with a suggested retail price of $29.99. For a limited time, the download will be offered on PlayStation Network and the Nintendo eShop for an introductory suggested retail price of $19.99.

No $19.99 limited pricing for 360 owners. Boo. I probably would've went for it just because.

I'd debate $29.99 and then getting the Spider-Man set (since I'm getting the Venom figure no matter what).

You really can't have characters from different franchises go into other worlds? That's disappointing. I'll probably look in another direction then. Thanks for the input.

Venom is pretty awesome. Once 2.0 goes digital, I might debate on getting it. I'd only buy the Spider-Man set. No way I am going crazy with figures again for a game that is this mediocre.

We will see. I feel like this game will live or die by the new toybox. In infinity one the best you could really say is that you could make some neat looking things, but there wasn't much gameplay to speak of. We will have to see what has been done there.

Just picked up my starter pack, Hawkeye (preorder freebie), Cap, and 7 power disc packs.

I tossed my 1.0 packaging over the weekend while cleaning up...I hope I don't regret that someday.

I may pick this up at some point now, but honestly, after playing Infinity 1.0 (and, well, I suspected it even before that), the Toy Box is something I couldn't care less about

I hope the structured game they have in there is worth the bones

From what I've read, gameplay is pretty much exactly the same. The only new thing is that each character, even the ones from 1.0, have extensive level up skill trees that they can't even completely fill out at max level. While that does look neat, the bare bones gameplay just isn't worth the price especially with Skylanders coming out in two weeks.

Yup. I want to try and get 100% achievements on 1.0 on 360. Then I would like to sell it all off (except Ralph and Venom....and Stitch when he comes out).

Toys R Us was having a deal that was buy 3 figs for $33 (typically $15 each). Basically, almost a buy 2 get 1 free deal.

I'm really enjoying 2.0. The superhero stuff is good. The toy box is also improved. That spin thing is gone and now you just buy stuff.

There is also a house that you build rooms of different shapes in whatever way you want and decorate them with themes and items. Right now I got Beast's Castle as my entrance and you go through the fireplace into a Shield Helicarrier complete with controls and windows. You can also unlock stuff from the games to put in the house.

Also when you put the 1.0 figures in game they unlock character stuff and items automatically so you don't have to buy them.

It seems that all the items that you got from the 1.0 spin thing just start unlocked.

Characters show up in your house and sometimes ask you to do thing like make a Cinderella room. You get new things for doing those.

Is the toy box UI faster this time? It was dog slow in 1.0 which really killed any interest I had in messing with it for long.

Can someone help me understand Infinity a bit?

So...let's say I buy the Marvel set for the Wii U. That would give me the portal. Does that mean I can then download Infinity 1 for free off the eShop and play it too? Would I need to buy a few original 1.0 characters to do that? What exactly is the difference between the Marvel set and the 2.0 set that comes out in Nov?

Marvel IS 2.0. The set in November is probably just another playset (or level) in the game. I don't know if the 2.0 portal works with the 1.0 game tho. It WILL work with the 1.0 figs.

I only have a limited number of figures but in the Avenger playset I found nova and Rocket tokens hidden around. When you collect ten of each that figure can be used in the Avenger playset and has some extra missions. I need to get another non Avengers figure to see if they have tokens appear in the playset too.

Also the toybox UI seems to loadup right away. I did not mess with it much in 1.0 so I don't have a frame of reference, but in the toybox tutorial stuff it pops up right when I hit the button.

They don't. Only thematically "correct"characters can play in the sets from what the reviews say.

Also, reviews all say the Toybox is much better in this version.

I do get that Skylanders is probably the more well rounded game at this point - but they're not Disney and Marvel. Plus, I want to play in the Toybox mode and I don't think Skylanders has an equivalent to that - in fact without a Minecraft port the Wii U really has no sandbox-y style game at all except the Toybox.

I said a non Avenger character. Rocket is not an Avenger. I meant going to buy Groot and see if the game adds tokens to the Avengers playset so I can use Groot. The only non avengers I've used so far have been Nova and Rocket and the game has added tokens for them into the open world.

    A couple things...

    1) I wish they had kept in the "forwards and backwards" compatibility they were talking about when the first game came out.

    2) I saw something (in an ad or on the in-store display? can't remember) that said that everything would be available separately. Since they're releasing 2 versions of the Starter Pack, it would make sense to have some way of getting the Avengers stuff without having to buy a second base.

Well, only 1.0 content works in the 1.0 game, so if you just want to play the Toy Box stuff, any figures you want to purchase will suffice, but if you want to play any of the play sets you'll have to seek those out.
