I mean, just... holy crap. I was wondering if perhaps the Warriors of Darkness were overshadowing the Warriors of Light in terms of useful classes, bu Recollect blows everything else in the game out of the water.
I might just keep Aigis a Dragoon, because I don't know if I want him to be that powerful, just to give him acceptable Speed.
Of course, depending on how strong Omega Weapon ends up becoming, I might have to fight fire with fire, as it were.
Alternatively, I could give Aigis Recollect as a Paladin, and only use some of the Memories. Just enough to offset Paladin's atrocious Speed and boost his Strength some.
Spending several hours training your career Ninja as a Dancer so he can learn Phantom Rush, and then finding out that Phantom Rush doesn't use the offhand weapon, and discovering that he can do more damage for less MP by using Spreadshot.
Sure, each hit does less damage than Phantom Rush, but it's a question of 6 hits averaging 1500 damage a pop vs 8 hits averaging 1200 damage a pop. In this case, quantity beats quality.
So I just reached Fabrica in the memorist chapter. Seems like the difficulty spiked a bit and new equipment is sooooo expensive. First time I've felt the need to grind before going after Phoenix. I don't like grinding.
You shouldn't need to grind much ever in the game. I remember the equipment starting to outpace what I could afford. Just, you know, don't buy more equipment? :P
I forget when you get the new character, but they'll be pretty strong, so that should help you
Well I figured out part of why I was having some issues. I was trying to level two red mages to 20 but it seems in this chapter I really need curaja. Cura doesn't cut it anymore and takes way too much MP per HP healed (especially with lower red mage MP totals). I've switched them to black and white mages which give them way more MP and access to curaja. I'm thinking I'll level those jobs for a while so I can equip higher magic to my red mages later.
Yo PALites, PSN store has a 25th anniversary sale up. £4 for every title and WotL, £8 for Dissidia 2 and FFIV complete.
Thanks to this, I now have the first nine titles in the series on a single portable device! Legally! I also got Dissidia 012 and am having fun with the fighting and stuff.
My kill-time-until-FFX-HD-comes-out plan has been simplified. Speaking of: I am now striving to max everyone's* stats in FF7 using Morph and W-Item.

Well I just wanted to get it over with. Random battles have been fine with that setup until now but bosses were usually pretty damn tough. I feel kind of silly now for not changing them to white/black for bosses.
Yeah. One strategy is to powerlevel Black Mage and White Mage (depending on what you want each character to do) until you can equip higher magic to a Red Mage. I also liked to do that with a Summoner, though you could conceivably just powerlevel White (or Black) and just be a Summoner for boss fights.
So, I just snagged Final Heaven. Pretty awesome move, and it really highlights the difference between the Warriors of Light and Darkness.
The Warriors of Light seem to be all about quality of a single blow: see also Doublehand. Whereas the Warriors of Darkness get Phantom Rush, and seem to be about quantity of attacks: see also Dual-Wield.
And I just cannot keep my plans for Aigis straight. Now I kind of think I'd likee him to be a Monk, or at least have Martial Arts equipped, because Raging Fist is freaking awesome. I'm currently leveling Glaive to get that last level of Monk between him and Raging Fist, and might drop Aim for Martial Arts if Raging Fist uses both weapons, because then it will probably be more useful for bosses than Spreadshot, albeit almost twice as expensive.
Nevermind. I will not be using Raging Fist, for two reasons.
1: Glaive can get better mileage out of Spreadshot or Phantom Rush, because Raging Fist doesn't use the second weapon, and doesn't hit as many times as Phantom Rush.
2: Aigis will never want to use Raging Fist, because he will either be blowing things to Kingdom Come with the aptly named Final Heaven, or necking Dry Ethers to do it some more.
To put Final Heaven into perspective, when I got it, I tried it out on a random mob, and my first thought upon seeing its damage total (after I unlocked it as a Seer and switched back to Monk) was "I need to equip the Ultima Weapon for this".
Granted, that was on a random trash mob, albeit one in the World of Nil. In a superboss battle, I need Mighty wall up to break it. Or at least I think I do, because I scarcely do anything in a superboss battle without Mighty Wall up.
But that's putting it into perspective again, isn't it? With Doublehand and Mighty Wall, I am reliably doing 12000-odd damage to Omega Weapon Level 4 with a single Final Heaven. Ivory Slash doesn't even break the cap at all, which shows you just how amazing Final Heaven is.
Not sure why I'm fighting Omega Weapon again, except for the challenge. The only unique items left are the Hero's Shield (and nobody in my team who can use shields wants to use shields) or the Loki Harp (and nobody in my team is a Bard).
I could go and snag one of the respawning trio of treasure chests if I win this particular battle, but that feels like a waste when there are two one-off super-items still hanging out in their stained glass chambers.
I ended up grabbing the Longinus and switching Sol back to a Dragoon with Doublehand and Holy Blade. With Ivory Slash still and the improved speed, I think his damage output is even higher, so that's cool.
Then, of course, I got overconfident and botched a fight against Gigantaur :P. Knockdown is rough if he uses it too frequently.

But one of the respawning chests is a Ribbon, and that's a pretty big help.
Yeah. Gigantaur can be nasty. I haven't been fighting him much lately. I don't need too many more Mog Coins. I've been fighting Omega Weapon for cool loot and the massive challenge, and Adamantoise because I need better armor to fight Omega Weapon. Adamantoise is a bit of a jerk, though. Last two fights he only dropped 1 Adamantite, and then he leveled up again.
And see? I told ya that Longinus makes your resident Paladin even better!
...having said that, I now have Aigis a Paladin again, because Mighty Wall Final Heaven etc. etc.
There's a lot of Fusion Abilities that are moves from previous games, actually. Final Heaven, Phantom Rush, Grand Delta, Meltdown(FFVI style), Giga Flare... it's pretty cool.
...oh lordy, Omega Weapon has leveled up again. And Level 5 isn't even the maximum yet!
It's a bit addictive, especially since it's so easy to fire up or turn off.
Hopefully, my team should be done entirely with grinding for job levels to get new moves.
There is the possibility that I might want to get Phantom rush for Nacht, but since he has no levels in Monk or Dancer, I don't think I'm doing that any time soon. Gonna stick with dual-wielded Ebony Slash.
I just can't figure out what move goes best as Glaive's standard damaging move. Spreadshot sometimes does more damage than Phantom Rush or Miderayuki, but sometimes it doesn't, and now he's got Saber Dance, which seems to outpace Phantom Rush in a single hit, but I'm not completely understanding of the damage formula for Phantom Rush. Is it defense-peircing or magic based? Because it seems like I can reach across the enemy back row with it while I can't do that with other moves.
But I think I'm gonna keep Dance on either way. Quick Shot was fun, but Glaive as a Ninja is plenty fast now, and I think it's lost its teeth with Saber Dance and Phantom Rush on the prowl, and Dance lets Glaive sap MP with Osmose Dance when I don't feel like burning another Dry Ether, and use Heal Dance when Adamantoise has Confused someone yet again. At this point I may have to traipse over to the Colosseum for another four of those acessories that block all the status effects that can be healed by Basuna.
Ok question. I always get slowdown when I use KoTR with my PS1 FF7 copy on my PS3 Slim. Like REAL bad slowdown. Do the PSN releases have the same slowdown?
Looks like its the US' turn for some FF PSN deals. It doesn't look like the prices have kicked in yet, but I'll be buying IV Complete, VIII, and IX for sure. Maybe V because its $5 and I can see how bad that version is for myself. Annoyed that the PSN versions of I and II aren't up there. If I recall, those are built from the GBA versions that had quite a bit of improvements over the PSX versions?

Would've been an awesome time to sneak in some missing PSN Final Fantasy games, but nooooo....
I already own all of those

Dabbling in Dissidia 012: What's the difference between Action Mode and RPG Mode?
Action mode plays kinda like a SSB style fighting game, RPG Mode instead is an ATB style RPG. Same fights. I never touched RPG Mode.
Alrighty then!
Meanwhile, at Stately Sunken Gelinka, I'm having difficulty with this trick to get a bunch of Mind Sources. This serpent doesn't want to use Aqua Lung to trigger my complicated materia interactions.
Hmm, maybe instead of Final Attack-Morph with Final Attack-Full Cure and Quadra Magic-Full Cure I should swap Final Attack 1 with Command Counter and Final Attack 2 with Magic Counter. If I'm understanding the interactions correctly it should simplify things.
Ok, so I'm enjoying the HELL out of FFXIII...which is very surprising given my previous stance/thoughts. But that's for another time...
I found out I'm probably headed to South Africa for 4 months this coming Monday and I really want to beat FFXIII.
I'm in Chapter 11
Just got to Oerba Village
Was wondering how much longer I have? I know I have 2 chapters to go and I'd imagine I've got to be getting close to the end of 11. I don't plan on doing anymore sidequests, just burning straight through to the end. I'll pick it back up when I get back to the states and finish the achievements.

At the end of Oerba you are launched into the final two areas of the game (which are quite difficult so they can take quite some time). If you've been keeping up with your hunts there's a teleporter there as well, and after you finish the first of the last two areas, there's a warp back to the first area and your base camp in Ch.11 so you can do endgame stuff.
