I actually knew this side quest existed but never completed it as I couldn't figure out exactly what triggered it. It's nice that there is a list now so I can finish it.

what was the verdict on the dlc for ffxiii-2? worth picking up? i recall hearing the sahz casino was mostly, if not all, filler. how about the other stuff?

They were... meh. Costumes and weapons are filler as you'd expect. Everything else amounts to just a coliseum fight that grant you a crystal letting you summon them. I never played the Sazh one, but the Snow DLC was just a cutscene followed by more coliseum fighting (though in terms of that it's actually the best bang for the buck, 3 fights and the chance to farm all those 1-off monsters like Chichu). The Lightning DLC was even worse with a shitty fight followed by a teeny tiny bit of story that doesn't really do anything but change the tone slightly of the ending. Which if you're curious:
Ending spoilers:
She goes into that crystal prison of her own will, to save Serah's memory or something. It just tries to make that ending scene more of a happy/bittersweet one. And there's a hidden scene after that showing her being freed and walking around a thousand years later, setting up XIII-3.
In the end, they're not totally horrible, and sorta worth it if you have a few bucks in your PSN/XBL wallet that's otherwise rotting. But unless you're really jonsing for an extra fight or two for a summonable monster that's of no use since you've beat the game already, you're probably better just youtubing it.

pretty sure i did that ff9 quest. and i never used guides anyway. (i remember them making a big deal out of not having a guide for the game, to teach people the joys of no internet no guides no nothing of the nes)
goddamn ff9 is beautiful. i need a hd port of it with upscaled backgrounds now please.
There's another one to add to my list of completes!
Seeing as it's fresh in your mind, is the ending as batshit as I remember? "The ending" in this case being everything from "monsters are coming from the moon" onwards, I guess. Also what is the deal with the Ragnarok ship.
Erm, yeah it kinda was, but when you get time travel involved it's always gonna go that way. I honestly wouldn't start picking at loose threads with the ending because the whole thing will unravel. Just enjoy the fact the good guys win, guy gets the girl, ect ect.
Have you read about the fan-theory that
Ultimecia is Rinoa from the future, and Griever is Squall from the future? It at the very least makes sense of the fact that Griever is named after Squall's ring.
There's also the fan theory called Squall Is Dead, but screw that one as it adds nothing to the plot or themes.
Well it's not that out there considering Squall says if Rinoa went evil he would still be her knight.
oh man, that theory
about squall being dead is one of the most depressing things ever. i'm one of those few who genuinely likes ff8, and then reading that dead theory made me cry.
the rinoa one is great i believe it, no matter what square says. i dont get squall being griever though, i just thought it was a gf that was manifested from his necklace/ring/whatever that ultimecia makes because squall is dead and she is trying to stop that but went crazy or someshit. in fact the squall is dead theory works with the riona one if you accept ultimecia in the future is an alternate timeline that gets made after squall dies at the end of the disc 1.
I assume it's just like the recent FF7 release. Shitty DRM on top of no real meaningful changes, and you'd be better off just using the old PC version with mods.
She kinda tries really hard to kill this Squall though. If she was that into him, maybe she shouldn't have stuck him full of ice at the end of Disk 1 in the first place.
Selphie's secret is just some stuff on a computer in Trabia iirc? Or was it to do with the GF she found in a cave?
I'm not sure what they could get out of blood-linking Sarah and Eiko, knowing they're from the same village is enough really.

I was referring to the computer; while fiddling around with the computer in her school, Selphie's information pops up on the screen. She immediately appears, shuts off the screen, and Squall is perplexed by the sudden action. It was never addressed again.
As for FFIX, the game literally asks the question if Eiko "could be related to Princess Garnet". The scientist in question (Garnet's caretaker) tries to run a test on Eiko to specifically prove this, but she runs off before he gets the chance.

Maybe if the PlayOnline official strategy guide wasn't completely useless, we would of discovered this sooner.
Y...You can call me stunned.

For funsies, I'm gonna try to do this year's fiesta on a SFC cart of FF5.

so we'll see how that works out
Hmm, seems like something is missing...
:P
eh, the touch controls are a little clunky but not terrible
as for grindy? that doesnt matter because it's a phone game so doing lots of little battles is fine because it kills time
yeah.
I am going to go back to crying in the corner what I was doing.

I also don't really like them that much but he does get credit and blame for finishing FF XII and keeping TLR off of the PS3!

I don't care what Square says, Ultimecia=Rinoa from the future where Squall died in disk 1 is my favorite fan theory of anything ever.

I'm pretty sure they fully endorse the fan theory, but are too proud to ever make it official since they didn't come up with it.
I'm still wondering if they'll ever revisit the possible blood relationship between Garnet and Eiko, as explicitly teased in the original game.
That and Selphie's dark secret.

My experience has shown me the internet's reaction to everything is extreme in one direction or the other.
Isn't that every E3?
I mean the last few years have been pretty meh, honestly.
Just that the internet tends to overblow things even when they aren't that serious.

Still bugs me to this day.
