I'm still quite proud of how my thunderhead turned out. I don't think I'm going to make him look very aged, cause in the fluff he's a unique warjack fresh out of assembly.
His metal bits could still look better, and I should probably inkwash him a bit more on parts to add some shadow. But I still love him.
I'm not sure on the details, but he makes all the armor plates and shit in a CAD program and then traces them onto greenstuff. Or something of that nature.
And I don't want anyone to think that I don't like what he does or anything like that.
My neighbor (who owns my local tabletop games shop) is going to sell off his store and he's giving me first dibs on everything in the store. I'm mainly interested in the specialist games such as Necromunda, Battlefleet:Gothic and Mordheim. Is there anyone here who has played these before and do you have any recommendations?
Necromunda is great if you have a dedicated gaming group, because you just have a gang roster that gets updated every time you play. This means that you can see little Jim Juve come in the gang pathetic and weak eventually grow up and become the leader of your gang, which I think is pretty cool. Also you don't need a whole lot of models - maybe ten to twenty depending on how much conversion work you want to do.
I think Mordheim is similar, but in the WHF universe.
Gothic is probably my favorite game, just because it's the most tactical of the GW games. It can get a little expensive (most models that aren't Imperial or Chaos are pewter), but worth it. Also, very scalable - you can play a 300 pt escort clash in an hour, or spend all night in a 2500 pt fleet engagement.

it did come out good, but there are a few things you can do to make it look a lot better.
First, the rivets. Each of those tiny dots there on the brass area, if you were to dot them with silver, then line them in black, would add a huge amount of detail and take a lot away form the flatness.
all the light blue areas - wash them thoroughly with a dark blue, then go back and highlight and touch up with the same light blue you have as a base. It will add a lot of depth to the area.
The rest of your silver mechanic areas need some blacklining, as well as along the edges of all of the dark blue armor plates. Notice those big screw looking circles on each shoulder? Those are a perfect area to blackline.

Thanks alot Rank, I'll defiantly give those things a try next model I do. Once I have it down I might go back over and do a bit of work on my Thunderhead.
As a matter of fact I'll throw together my extra Charger Warjack in a bit, paint him up.
I can just see you, like, yelling at your father and refusing to mow the lawn because nobody understands you while tinkering with Warhammer models.

But still, the paint on that stuff is top notch.
Actually, I was slightly off. I guess they're stamped on, not traced. It doesn't really matter.

Cool.
Also, you mean the holes in the brass sections? Just dot some boltgun in those holes and black wash the whole section?
I just want to hear a bit more details about the games and which games you feel that were the most "fun" for oyu.
If you want, you can download the rulebook at specialist-games.com. All of the rules are free.
Gothic just feels really epic when you're playing it. It's not really like 40k where you just roll dice back and forth for two hours, there's some nice tactics involved. You have to give individual orders for your ships or squadrons, and once combat gets started there are different effects for being damaged.
Not a very good explanation, but check out the rules.
Mordheim is neat as long as you ignore a couple of the really unbalanced warbands. If you like customizing individual models in fantasy then you'd probably like Mordheim.
Thanks a lot, I'll check up on the different games but after what I've seen in this thread I'll probably go Gothic and Mordheim.
didn't I hear some place that they were going to be doing a mordheim revamp ? the game store in my town did a fire sale on all their mordheim stuff, it was 50% off everything. So , i baught the 6th ed of warhammer instead of spending 100 on evefything thing they had for mordheim. im kinda pissed i didnt' spend at least 25 for the mordheim box that in an of it self is a steal.

Sigmar from WFB as one of the lost Space Marine Primarchs?
Yes / No / Maybe?
I say yes. I have no problem with the idea that WFB is within WH40K.
Warhammer World could be somewhere stuck in a warp storm, yes. One of the Age of Reckoning dudes let slip that Orcs come from mushrooms from outer space, the same way that Orks in 40k reproduce and spread, so it's entirely possible.

quetzi - the tyranid section of the OP is way convoluted and too long. Can you go through and make an edited version? I'm trying to keep them a bit more concise, but I know nothing about the nids.
I remember that fluff, How Sigmar came from a two tail comet coincides with the Chaos Gods splitting up the children of the Emperor into the far reaches of the universe in the rocket ships. Oh the days of 2nd edition, the times where doing vehicle damage would take a while, and the cards always with those damn cards.

All you need is this.
"We cannot live through this. Mankind Cannot live through this. In a single day they have covered the surface of this planet with a flood of living blades and needle fanged mouths. Kill one and ten take it's place. If they truly are without number then our race is doomed to a violent death before every shred of our civilization is scoured away by a force more varacious than the fires of hell themselves! Death! By the Machine God. Death is here! - The last words of Magos Varnak"

uriel, that is looking a lot better already. Nice job.
Thanks Rank, for he advice. I think he's about as good I'm going to get him without having to strip and redo him. I'm going to get ahold of some matte varnish and just seal him.
I'd highlight the armor plates, but I like how dark they look. Fits my theme.

its all the machine god / tech priests that keep things running and they dont really even know how they work anymore. its all "magic" but they do prolly keep them clean, but wearthing just looks sweet. I don't have the patients, im generaly a dry brush and go type person. I need to get better about doing proper shading techniques but , screw it . lol

Yeah sure. I was reading through it and found it quite amusing.

practically everything in the first two OPs are straight from Wikipedia. I'm going to go through and edit them down to better posts eventually, but right now I just want to get something up for people to read through.

man what?
Seriously, no idea what you mean by "the equivalent of tracing".

Goddamn firefox dictionary thing.
That is the second time I've done that.
Cool.
Also, you mean the holes in the brass sections? Just dot some boltgun in those holes and black wash the whole section?
You could probably say that for most of the specialist games.
Sigmar from WFB as one of the lost Space Marine Primarchs?
Yes / No / Maybe?

Also because their race was made obsolete by the might of the hive mind.
Actually that is a shitty picture.
It's cool, but no space marine chapter would ever let a dreadnought fall into such disrepair. Those things are sacred.

edit: the model, not the tyranid section

I support this.
That's the point of the Space Marines. They don't know how to use any of their equipment.
And if they did, they are charged as being a witch and burned.
Which is why Space Marines, while universally accepted as neat, are dumbheads.
YOU SEE THIS EYE?
DOES IT LOOK LIKE IT GIVES A FUCK?
Man, fuck the fluff. If you can make something look that fucking rad, go for it.
Yeah sure. I was reading through it and found it quite amusing.
