Sigmar from WFB as one of the lost Space Marine Primarchs?
Yes / No / Maybe?
I say yes. I have no problem with the idea that WFB is within WH40K.
Warhammer World could be somewhere stuck in a warp storm, yes. One of the Age of Reckoning dudes let slip that Orcs come from mushrooms from outer space, the same way that Orks in 40k reproduce and spread, so it's entirely possible.
THE YOUNG RACES
At some point, the Orcs arrived. Quite probably their insidious spores were unwittingly introduced to the world by the star vessels of the Old Ones, although possibly they drifted through the voids of space and came to the world by their own means. Either way, in the hidden wilderness, the greenskins spread to become a constant thorn in the side of the other races.
The Liber Chaotica books are ambiguous as to where they are set, 40K or WHFB. I'm all for ambiguity, but just don't make it official. I hate all the freaking nerdlings who must have dogmatic background dictated to them. They destroy all the mystery the setting has, which is one of its strong points.
quetzi - the tyranid section of the OP is way convoluted and too long. Can you go through and make an edited version? I'm trying to keep them a bit more concise, but I know nothing about the nids.
Yeah sure. I was reading through it and found it quite amusing.
practically everything in the first two OPs are straight from Wikipedia. I'm going to go through and edit them down to better posts eventually, but right now I just want to get something up for people to read through.
Okay it might be a bit long but I just slammed something out really quickly about a lot of basic 'nids stuff:
Tyranids are a race from the fictional Warhammer 40,000 universe, a race of rapidly evolving insectoid creatures that spreads across the universe like an intergalactic version of a locust swarm. All Tyranids have several defining traits, including six limbs, bony forehead crests, weapons built into their bodies and an external carapace in addition to a skeleton. However, aside from these basic characteristics, they can vary wildly in appearance, from the lowly ripper, which scampers along the ground in search of resources to collect to the mighty carnifexes, near-indestructible creatures that look somewhat akin to gigantic beetles.
Tyranids are connected by an elaborate psychic web called the hive mind. While some of the weaker creatures, such as gaunts and gargoyles, are incapable of establishing a strong connection to the hive mind, larger synapse creatures maintain a connection, and will control the weaker creatures through this. Thus, synapse creatures function in a manner similar to the generals of other armies, controlling the troops with an iron will and forcing them onwards. Of course, not all Tyranids need the hive mind, and can function just perfectly fine without it. This is not to say however that the hive mind is not a great aid in these situations.
Tyranids invade a planet through a series of infestations. Generally, the relatively independent units of genestealers and lictors will be sent ahead, and will be capable of bursting out from hiding when the time for an actual attack comes. Before this attack, the flora and occasionally even the fauna in the area is mutated in preparation for the greater invasion, which includes the addition of all sorts of alien terain such as digestion pools and capillary towers, which cause the race to grow. Upon the defeat of a planet's defenders, the rippers will scour the planet and devour all of the organic matter, for reprocessing into the hive mind, and occasionally for the adaptation of superior genetics. Then the hive fleet will move onto the next world.
The unique nature of the Tyranids allows them to constantly evolve and advance, far quicker than standard evolution. Even surviving Tyranids will be digested back into the collective gene pool, but their genes will be marked and noted as being superior, as it allowed them to survive, and incorporated into the next wave. As such, they often come with all sorts of advances to help them survive against the metal clad warriors of to 41st century, including dangerous toxins and poisons, barbed hooks and claws, and powerful symbiote organisms that function as living weaponry, spraying clouds of maggots, poisonous crystals, or even of more Tyranids, specifically spore mines, which can function as living bombs.
Oh man, reading the thread makes me want to get back into making these things again.
But they're damned expensive for someone on my budget.
Any ideas where one would get them for cheap?

I loved that part where the author just goes insane and starts ranting about the Horus Heresy and Abbadon's black crusades in really, really obtuse language. All pictures of Chaos Space Marines and defilers in the background, with notes written "These images haunt my dreams" in the background.

I have no problem with crazy S&M elves personally. However, I'm sure they would not fit with my playstyle, which is pretty much only suitable to Tyranids and maybe Orks.
Are you fucking kidding? The fluff is some of the best stuff about this game.

I've been reading through their codex and it seems like you basically have to get in there and kick the shit out of guys as fast as you can.
t Gigglio: Yeah, a lot of them are, but it seems to me like this is mostly because the army is so unpopular. It's like a loop, though. It doesn't get any updates because it's unpopular, it's unpopular because it doesn't get any updates.
Check out this shit though. That guy's a damn pimp! He's got his bitches with him and everything!

Yeah, every Dark Eldar model I've seen looks like it is dated back to Rogue Trader and totally "S&M Metal Slug character."

Actually the high WS/BS and the I goes pretty well with my bumrush strategy that I use with my 'stealers. Still, they're pretty fucking ugly, and don't seem like they'd be fun to paint unless I was slitting my wrists to provide the paint.

See this is what I do with my genestealers. If they stay in a melee for more than two rounds they are so fucked, but in the first round or two they are destroying shit. So the obvious answer is don't play Dark Eldar, play 'nids instead.

k, added some of the info from the oDaM OP.
Regarding dark eldar, I cut the info I had posted there and put that piece up because I was completely out of room and needed something short. I'll edit it back in later once I've trimmed some of the fat.
After reviewing my space marines last night I've come to the conclusion that "holy fuck" it's probably not worth it to clean them up and redo them.
Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.... my point is, I'm not sure what army I want to play as. Not that I can afford anything for a while yet, but still a boy can dream.

Play as 'nids. Or Dark Eldar, seeing as you are an S&M faggot.
Also, this thread is making me reconsider my decision to skip PAX.

Ah, so that's what those zombie imperial guard I saw at the store were. Pretty classy shit right there. Still though, the undead role in pretty well filled by the Necrons.

Dark Eldar suddenly got useful in 4th edition.
Now that aside from the orks, they're one of the only races with lots of open topped transports.

Yeah, Nurgle Lost and the Damned can take traitor guard (who can look like zombies) and actual plague zombies. Oh, and mutants. Can't forget the mutants!

Socially liberal people just love to be Empero-fascists.
It's not as if you can use a shower too easily when you're stuck in three tons of iron and staby bits.
That eye does look like it gives at least some fuck, not much but a little.

It's funny, because I own at least portions of all of these armies. Fuck the angels though, go with 'nids or orks.
Tyranids would be a blast to paint and the orks would be awesome to model.
I mean, who doesn't want to have a zombie army in 40k?
They have really awesome fluff.
Also, this thread is making me reconsider my decision to skip PAX.
