I debated giving a detailed answer with specific examples, but the short answer is that what's happening at DC right now is an unprecedented clusterf**k of epic proportions. Everyone in the industry knows it and can't really believe what's going on. On the other hand, it doesn't seem like DC is running out of people willing to deal with the bulls**t, and most fans don't seem to care. So more power to 'em.
The push-pull between editorial and creators has been going on as long as there have been comics. Editors are supposed to safeguard valuable properties, while creators want creative freedom. The system works when there's compromise and collaboration, and most importantly trust, on both sides. I think it's a cyclical thing. There are periods of more creative freedom and less creative freedom, as publishers exert control over their properties.
If these things had follow-ups, someone needs to ask him what about editorial coming up with their own plot points. Raping Sue Dibny or killing John Stewart aren't "protecting" properties, they aren't telling someone they can't do something, they're introducing their own awful ideas to the property. These guys are answering the question like this is creative freedom vs. editorial boundaries, but it's freedom vs. mandates.
It's interesting. That Article mentions a point that fans don't often bring up. It's not always about an editorial demand for killing of raping a character. It seems like the pure amount of rewrites and interferences that come with trying to write books for DC is the main issue. I could
probably live with writing a bad plot but having someone ask me to rewrite or redraw something multiple times, especially when the demands were whimsical, and without extra pay? That would make me quit for sure.
of the DC properties I think they did neat and interesting things with of the current run are Andrew Bennett I vampire and Amethyst
I really have no idea what they were thinking about Blackhawks and Gi combat
I had high hopes for Stormwatch (Ellis and Gage did interesting things with the property back when WS was seperate and Cornell and Milligan both are great writers, but it never came together. Flashes of potential here and there.). I am a big Wildstorm fan though (at least the late 90s/early 2000s period where you had brilliant stuff like Wildcats 3.0, Sleeper, Ellis' Stormwatch, Planetary, Adam Warren's Gen13 etc.), so sad that nothing of that potential every came through.
I do love the new Wonder Woman and am eagerly awaiting the Dial H TPB (missed the first single issue, so tradewaiting it is).
The DCnU version of the Blackhawks were supposed to be like a secret G.I. Joe, right? I wouldn't mind that sticking around as long as they kept a focus on air stuff as a nod to the original Blackhawks. Maybe make them a division of ARGUS if they weren't established as such already.

Basically yeah. Though one or two might have or gained super powers.
I just really hope that Dial H doesn't get canceled anytime soon.
I'm of a firm believe that Dial H will go the Vertigo route: low singles sales bolstered by strong TPB sales (just have to wait until the TPB comes out).
And just like that, batwing moves to the top of my pull list. For those who don't want to read the interview, Palmiotti and gray are going full on with the iron man theme and adding a large dose of fun. The new batwing is also an already existing character. Color me intrigued.
Man, I'd be pissed if I was a current fan of the book. It sounds like they're destroying absolutely everything that it's about. At that point, why even call it Batwing?
Oh man, I forgot to consider that DC might choose a white guy. I was about to look up and see what Lucius Fox was up to in the New 52, or if Cyborg was still being advertised as being a Justice League member (since the clues they gave were that they could travel the world, had a connection to Batman/Gotham, that technology was important to them, and that they were a recognizable character).

Yeah. Gonna pick it up for at least an issue and see. The Green Arrow and Superman writer changes got me reading those. Maybe this will too.
Garlic Breadi'm a bitch i'm a bitch i'm a bitch i'm aRegistered User, Disagreeableregular
There's literally 0% chance of it happening but it would fit him being from Gotham, having ties to Batman, and being "the Batman of [wherever]" (since his name is Batman)
I had an idea, for like a minute, about teaming up Batman Jones and Cassandra Cain. For the life of me, I can't remember what the foundation of that idea was.
I do remember that I wanted Batman Jones to wear one of those crappy Batman Halloween costumes, like, with the Batman mask, and the shirt that said, "BATMAN." But, it'd be paired with military surplus gear.
I think Batman Jones' mask should have a mouth hole... And the trench coat looks a bit too "cool" for him. He should be wearing an actual sheet tied around his neck.
Mike Danger"Diane..."a place both wonderful and strangeRegistered Userregular
I'm seeing Batman Jones wearing a slightly nicer version of those Batman hoodies where you put up the hood and it becomes the cowl with the ears and everything.
Ok, this bit from what I presume is the latest Injustice: Gods Among Us comic made me laugh a little.
I know it's a serious moment but the look on Supes' face as he no-sells that punch just cracks me up. That last line from him kind of reminds me of that note from Lex Luthor in Superman: Red Son too for some reason.

It reminds me of that line in the pre-New52 DCU where Batman goes, "The last time you inspired anyone was when you died."
Bruce kinda sorta fires Alfred.
Beryl becomes the new Knight.
The Prime Minister looks into "bionics" to revive Knight but is told that there may be an active lazarus pit still around.
The Cube Robin fought for is the trigger of the oroboro. A super weapon that is linked to a ring of bombs around the planet, each of which are located in a Batman Inc member's home city.
Also, when Jason was knocked out, he pissed himself. So, Ranger is following the pee trail.

And a good sign that Johns did in fact leave Green Lantern to launch a Shazam solo book.
well
parts of it
the boots are way too busy and there are unnecessary seams like every other goddamn DC costume
but the lightning bolt being actual lightning that is crackling is a fantastic effect and the hooded cape gives him a nice "magical" flair.
Basically take those two things and put them on the pre-boot costume and you have perfection
It's this. 3 Issue mini series from 1999 that introduced the Pieter Cross version of the character. Pretty good, if I remember correctly.

and yet it had tons of holes and questionable characters good thing I had bought all 9 issues for $5
Let's Play Final Fantasy 'II' (Ch10 - 5/17/10)
Basically yeah. Though one or two might have or gained super powers.
Was even written by one of the Joe writers.
He's not a good writer.

As for who it is, I'm guessing Tim Drake.
