When I eventually restart Prism, I've been thinking of just doing it 4E style, rather than slapping a D&D stylesheet on DE?AD's [%] system.

But then that would probably exclude a significant portion of the original Prism players who would want to play in the reboot.

It was a game I made for the Gloss thread. I used DE?AD's [%] system, gave it a D&D-meets-Ravnica flavor and added a couple custom mechanics to give the character progression a similar feel to D&D.

It didn't last long, largely because I kinda fucked up the start of it and made the narrative way to messy to keep track of.

So I've been thinking that, when I eventually try rebooting it, I might just make a CF thread and use 4E mechanics.

Okay, I'm like 95% set on playing a Half-elf Skald for my short stint playing in Epic.

I was torn between a Skald and a regular Bard, mainly because the Bard has really good healing.

In the end the Skald won because I can focus on at-will powers, and that kind of really works with what I want to try to accomplish with this character.

Also I will have 3 Warlock at-will attack powers in addition to my two standard Bard at-wills, at least one of which is just an aura boosting power.

Yeah I think overall SE is probably the most civil of the subforums. That's probably bias, but who knows.

I just like the format of it here. More casual.

It's been like that for a long time, but people miss things all the time.

Where are they at with that now?

Have they introduced any more classes yet? Last I remember reading they had put in, and then pulled back out, both the warlock and the sorc. Then they messed with a bunch of stuff with fighters and rogues and basically made rogues shitty fighters with lots of skill-based tricks to make up for it. In a game where skills are optional.

That reminds me of a third-party sourcebook I saw at Borders one time that was all about integrating sex and related matters and monsters into sessions. Totally unwrapped too for any curious little kid to look at should he pull the wrong book off the shelf.

3 and 3.5 were heavily combat focused too. The roleplaying side of D&D has always been pretty lackluster as far as providing players tools beyond just their own imaginations.

White Wolf always did a good job integrating roleplaying into gameplay, but the balance there was combat largely felt tacked-on.

Never played a system which was really well balanced in both areas.

Mutants and Masterminds, I was looking at it yesterday, is the only D20-based game to make roleplay feel as effective as combat. The more I look at it, the more I realize (as someone who couldn't get into most of 4E) it's what I want from 4E.

Outside of that, FATE does a good job as well by implementing the same systems for roleplay and combat, but you have to be willing to make some story game concessions.

And from what I hear, Burning Wheel does it well as well. But since Burning Wheel pure isn't available in PDF, I'll never truly know.

I'm still not sure how I feel about 5e at this point. I know I'll probably wind up buying whatever they publish eventually but I really haven't heard anything to get me excited about a new set of rules. Our group has been pretty happy with the tactical combat of 4e. I think maybe I'd be more excited if they were doing a new campaign setting or something to launch with it.

So I posted some of this in the old forum, but I found an awesome program to help me out. Here's the 3d model of Project Silmarillion. This is going to be used in our weekly pathfinder game:

    table3d1_zps8eaabc96.jpg

Here's w/o the table top so you can see what's underneath. Not pictured is the lighting kit I'm using.

    table3d2_zps91fd7222.jpg

So what I need is help from you guys. I know what I want as a DM, but what other things would you, as experienced tabletop gamers, like to see in a gaming table?

Also; has anyone here done the Challenge of Champions in their game yet? If not, I highly recommend it. It's a great way to get your players thinking and working on those dungeon puzzle solving skills.

You can pretty much work it into any game you want.
