Whittingham Fair is apparently a sequel/answer song to Scarborough fair. Oddly, while one of the herbs in the first song is switched for Savory in the second, the guns in the Bayo 3 trailer are all the same four names used in Bayo 1. [/regurgitation of GameXplain info]
So Bayonetta 1&2 are now on the Switch. Here's an article listing the amiibo costume unlocks in Bayo 2: https://miketendo64.com/2018/02/15/guide-bayonetta-2-lets-have-fun-with-amiibo-costume-unlock-details/
And they're not kidding that scanning a bunch of amiibo gives a lot of halos. It seems the more figures you scan the amount of halos rewarded steadily increases. At first I thought it was tied to how "rare" the figures were but the next day of scanning my collection the halo rewards increased from 4000, 8000, 12000, 16000, etc. after every 3rd or 4th amiibo.
Trying to power through Bayo1 so I can play Bayo2 after, since I've never played either one.
As others have said, those QTEs are terrible and I cant even imagine a time when these things would seem like a good idea. The bike riding on the highway was an OK diversion but the physics were pretty rough and I fell through the track on a glitch multiple times. The game is pretty good checkpoint wise, so it hasnt been much of an issue. The game looks great considering its age, though I'm mostly just playing through to get the story beats leading up to 2. Very cool that the Switch will eventually house the entire trilogy, even though it irks me that I have one of them digitally.
I definitely wouldn't consider 1 a game you play just to get to 2; even ignoring that I like 1 better than 2, each of them is a very strong game on their own merits
I'm enjoying 1. Gameplay wise, I'm in to it, and I find the campyness to be one of those rare times where it feels just right. I was tempted to jump right into 2 but I'm glad I held off. Not crazy about the sepia tone of the game, but it does make the times its not used stand out more.
And my joycons were dying so I went handheld for the first time with Bayo. I knew it was supposed to look sharper, but I didn't expect it to look THAT sharp. I wish it looked like that docked holy cow.
I dunno playing 2 first then going back to one would definitely make you feel different about chapter 16.
Poor Balder. He had some awful luck.

I am going through Bayonetta 1 again on switch now. I've only played a small part of the second, but I want to get everything done to a decent standard in Bayonetta 1 before I go moving onto the second game. Plus it's been a very long time since I played Bayonetta. I have to say though, I don't know what kind of inhuman monster I was to platinum (pure platinum in many cases) most of the original games levels. I'm utterly atrocious at the game now.
There's a lot of great gameplay in B1 and I agree that the story works best if you know B1 before getting through B2.That said, I still think B2 is far the better game.

I've heard that the alfheims in Bayonetta 2 are far less bullshit than the first game.
Doing that 5 torture attack, 3 hits alfheim was a total bastard - especially when I realized you had to kill every enemy with a torture attack. That really annoyed me when I got both of the last enemies with torture attacks, but because the attack didn't kill the first one it didn't count and so I failed with only 4/5 on the board.
I just started 2 this morning after completing 1 and unlocking most things.
It’s so jarring going right to the second game Noatun is so bright and colorful compared to Vigrid. It’s just so good looking.
The opening of 2 still fills me with such excitement and hype for the the rest of the game.

Man, watching Bayonetta run kind of makes me that they never thought about Bayonetta running. Like they designed her standing and waking, but never running
This thread popping up just reminded me that I really need to get back to actually playing Bayonetta on steam... and probably try Vanquish.

Bayonetta completed on switch, but boy some of those big battles tank the frame rate to zero. I gave up thinking about doing a PP run after that. I'd already played the shit out of the game beforehand anyway, so started Bayonetta 2. Such a great looking game and the frame rate has been considerably more solid so far.
Beat Bayo, now on Chap 5 of Bayo 2. Really glad I did 1 first because I'm enjoying 2 exponentially more. I prob wouldn't have seen 1 through to the finish if I knew how much more I liked 2.
I'm finding everything that irked me about one, either refined or fixed completely. And since it seems easier in general, I could see myself replaying on a harder mode after I beat it. As opposed to Bayo 1 which frustrated me enough in parts to the point where I would prob never do that.
The best improvement are the challenges. They are all very doable on a first run and there’s only one difficult one out of all of them, and it’s not difficult so much as it’s tricky.

Bayonetta 2 is unequivocally better than the first game, from a basic playability perspective, readability of enemy attacks and the alfheims are actually fun this time around. I am really glad I went through the first game beforehand, because its flaws are a lot more obvious after playing the sequel.

The biggest thing I miss are the weapons, Durga in particular. Also the minor costume bits are fun, like kitty ears/tail matching Durgas.
So I was going to buy it for the switch digitally but apparently they dont sell 1 and 2 together and its more expensive? eh. might wait for a physical copy to be marked down.

digitally for 1 & 2 is the same as retail. no matter which order you buy the games in digitally (buying one or the other lowers the price of the other game in the eshop), it comes out to $60 (same as retail b2 with b1 as download)
When Rodin chews out Enzo for saying he doesn't believe in Santa, I like to think that part of that is because Rodin helped Santa himself fight to save the planet from aliens, so who is Enzo to say he doesn't think he exists?

But what if Rodin actually is Santa.

I mean, Bayonetta had Love Is Blue in Bayo2, it could just be a new set of guns.
But who knows?
Noice.

that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
PC version is good and yes, a controller is preferable.
Running around Noatun's huge plaza, while being encouraged to use panther form to run faster, was such a good way to start the game.
Edit: I play only in handheld mode.
