i cant get into the candymancer teamspeak (Just throws up a connection error every time I try.), and there is nobody in Kash's server, but im in there hanging out, waiting for others. It's entirely possible that i am doing the teamspeak thing wrong though too, i've never used teamspeak in my life so yeah
I just get this every time:
"<17:42:45> Trying to resolve hostname tungsten.typefrag.com
<17:42:49> Trying to connect to server on tungsten.typefrag.com:8761
<17:42:56> Failed to connect to server"
Candymancer is Vent.
What? I was told it was TS....that explains a lot.

Sorry - there were a few servers going around. Use Candymancers (Vent), we'll stick with that until PA is up.

G&T Vent's back up, btw. The server was physically being moved and had to be re-installed in the new location, hence the downtime.

I was playing with a similar build earlier with 2 LLAS instead of 2 ERPPC but I think I can make this one work with the low heat on the STREAK SRM2 and LB10-X. The main heat is the ER PPCs which I can manage easily enough.

My continuing adventures in MW4: Mercs are proving to be damned entertaining. It's astounding how much better I am at this game with my hundreds of MWO matches under my belt. The builds I'm fielding this time around are also a lot scarier. The last time I played this years ago I mostly just ran around with derpy laser and missile builds. This time around? Ultra Autocannon 20s. Accept no substitutions. Half my lance has them and the only reason the other four don't is because they don't have mechs that can fit them. Yet. Watching mechs explode as soon as they get in range due to being whacked with 4 of those things at once doesn't get old.
Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries does do one that helps balance out clan tech that I'm liking and that was to make it all spit out more heat which would be a good option for PGI to explore when it comes time for them to start tackling clanner toys. I'm actually sticking to some old Inner Sphere stuff in MW4:M just because even though it doesn't hit as hard, the heat on it gives me some better fitting options and resulting in more actual damage due to my mechs running cooler. Also, the more I'm playing with those old LRMs and Streak SRMs the more I'm thinking PGI really needs to steal how they can't turn that well. Sure they lock on and are guided but they can't turn terribly sharply so you actually have to pay at least a little attention to what you're doing.
So i've been piloting a slightly modified version of @TOGsolid 's 5J (swapping the LRM20 with a LRM15 and upgrading to a XL315, atleast until i can unlock speed tweak to bring it up over 100.) and i've been enjoying it alot so i'm thinking of eliting them, any suggestions for the other chassis i should pick up?
At a quick glance i was maybe thinking of the 3C/5N for the larger engine/larger arm-torso twist respectively.
PErsonally, I don't frown upon Raven 3Ls at all, even when there are a couple. It's just the majority of the time there are 3+.
Yesterday, Heffling, Heckels and I played a match where it was our 2 lights vs SIX MOTHERFUCKING LIGHTS on the other team.

My biggest problem is groups of streak 3Ls as well. It was worse when I'd take out the Jenner and know that the other light would almost certainly be an ECM light, so I'd be hosing my team. Now that the matchmaker screws us over in tonnage independent ways, it's less of an issue, unless it's a flock of the damn things.
I will admit that when I do manage to get the upper hand on one, it's extra satisfying. Legging one with the AC20 the other night was cathartic.
The matchmaker still can't seem to decide if I need to be dropped with premades, or grouped with people that repeatedly fire LRMs at 90 meters range.

I decided that I'd pick up the TBT-3C for the engine. It'll go into something over 60T.

yea, matchmaking is weird now. i was pugging it up for a bit last night with my hunchback. i was either in a group with 4 other hunchbacks, a stalker and some lights vs 5 stalkers/atlas, a couple cataphracts and a light. Or my team ended up with 5 DDCs, cataphracts, me and a light vs Trebs, phracts and atlas. very weird.
I'm getting the impression that I'm not as horrible at this game as I thought. I was able to beat a Centurion one-on-one with my HBK-4SP, and the guy ragequit right after. But then the rest of my team gets annihilated, and my kill was the only one posted.
It's pretty disheartening to watch some people play, sometimes. I watched a friendly Atlas firing LRMs into the dirt, and another guy trying to shoot the legs off of a Catapult instead of shooting the gigantic boxes of missiles.

If the ammo gets stored in the legs often enough, that might be OK. I haven't run a catapult since closed beta and don't remember where that tended to go. People tend to shave armor from legs first, so they may be no tougher to crack than the missile racks. (although, big cube target, right?)

Consider my interest piqued. I usually pair LLAS with LBX to melt armor, but the PPC would be better pin point damage. (P.S. To whomever awesomely suggested I lower my mouse sensitivity to help with pew pew, you are a gentleman and scholar)

Not sure if it was me who suggested it to you, but I tend to go into nerdrage about pubbies with twitch shooter mouse settings completely messing up their shots. It bears reiterating: Lowering your mouse sensitivity is really pretty much the best thing you can do to improve your aim in this game, no matter how fast your mech of choice might be. MWO is not a twitch game where you have to be able to do a full 180° turn in 12 ms in order to be pro - it isn't even possible to do that, because of the torso twist limitation, and the limited turn speed of the mechs' legs. It is instead a game of careful leg orientation and using your torso - and of course on many chassis, the arms - to to track targets. It doesn't matter so much how fast you can "acquire" a target in your crosshairs, it's much more important to keep it there and steady while you fire your guns. In MWO, precision matters much, much more than reaction speed.

I've recently found Ravens easier to leg. Maybe the Cheese Commanders are shaving lots of leg armor for added gouda? In fact I double legged one last night in my CDA-3M.
The problem with legs is that due to being on a stompy robot, they're constantly stomping about. I generally only go for them if they're already damaged, otherwise my weapons attention is better used elsewhere I find.

I find myself going for the legs more often recently. LLAS or LPL are great for it, since you're bound to hit them at least a little even if they move perpendicular to your own mech. I've got more of a problem targeting the correct leg when I want to shoot an already damaged one - it's ALWAYS the wrong one on the first shot, even if they're standing still! Apparently I still get "left" and "the other left" confused...

Does that seem right to you?
...is it bad that I often forget the Spider exists? Because that's also a really good candidate for a hero mech.
If Rhonda's Highlander is not pink, I will be sorely disappointed.

New Oosik Mechlab update is pretty awesome.
Most definitely. Unless we're in an 8 man.

we either did well or got obliterated.
Capsaicin, did you get another medium mech? you REALLY should try another weight class...

I almost bought an Awesome last night, but bought the TBT-3C instead for the XL300.

Now that you have that engine you can do all sorts of fun things with Dragons
