I think with SRM cats and other short range builds, pilots that don't completely panic when they're close up realize how deep they're in it and take high risk/high reward shots hunting ammo compartments or the cockpit.
I panic and alpha the CT or an ear, overheat, and then die. Screaming.

The problem with legs is that due to being on a stompy robot, they're constantly stomping about. I generally only go for them if they're already damaged, otherwise my weapons attention is better used elsewhere I find.
Aim for the hips. You either get the joint, or a torso.

I'll say it again: Headshot those Splatcats! The Catapult is pretty much the easiest mech to headshot with its huge cockpit hitbox.

I think the only time I've managed to headshot a Cat is when I've had an elevation advantage. Specifically, arm lasers and jumpjets, although I'm sure a hill would work just fine. I think the way the nose is angled it's just easier from above, plus the jets help smooth out your own movement.
Also, I don't hit override enough in those situations. Never occurs to me in the moment.

Lots of lovely firepower, but beware using the Awesome as a brawler. Your large torso area means you can get taken down much quicker than expected. I think everyone that plays them here tends to use them as large fire support mechs.

Thats why I stuck with the STD300 instead of the XL300.

It's super true. I've started just going for the cockpit every time I see a catapult.
Well... you know what you call a flock of the damn things? A murder of crows.
I think that when you kill one, it should be mandatory to go all Captain CapsLock in all-chat, saying "NEVERMORE!!"
I'm really surprised that there aren't more puns flying around about the Raven. (See what I did there?)
so raven 3Ls are frowned upon in this establishment?
I'm terrible at the Raven 3L. I always run into buildings. Bah.
If I'm running at full speed through buildings it just becomes a recipe for disaster (ie rubberbanding on terrain or becoming stuck outright). I chop my throttle down to about 110 around corners and then accelerate when I'm clear. Also, if you run 10-20kph under max (140 cap for me) through town, you can take advantage of all the little nooks and crannies to cut off prey or escape pursuers/locks.
Ahahaha, I just got recognized! This has never happened to me before. I'm sorry in advance for the e-peen stroking, but I just have to tell someone who will understand
I sent an old classmate who I know to be a gamer a link to MWO on Facebook, telling him to go and play it because he'll love it. He said he already does play it, so I tell him my ingame name so we can buddy up, and his reaction was (translated from German): "YOU'RE THE LEGENDARY KASHAAR?!!? You've killed me more than once before!"
Apparently he doesn't like being hit with Large Lasers from a distance - and in his nerdrage, my name got stuck in his brain
The thing I hate most about a majority of matches? When I stomp the other teams face in and they ragequit out so they can't see my glorious scoreboard stats.
It drives me nuts they don't stick around to realize the true level of their humiliation. Ie: That team on Alpine last night.

why havent there been any ISN News Flashes since feb 11th? have the devs realized they cant start the clan invasion in time? Its been said, by Garth i believe, that they will push back the timeline if they have to.

Oh how can you not include the visual aid? COME ON.
Every time I search "khan kirk scream" in Google, I'm taken aback by the visceral hatred in the eyes of fifty simultaneous Kirks. Never fails.
I think there are people who still depend on lag shields to keep them alive.
Our 8 man ran into a group twice that ran mostly light mechs. Both times it was conquest. Instead of running around and capping when they found out we were much heavier than them, they just tried to brawl with us. And both times, 8-0 in our favor. many light mechs were legged.
You know, unless they have something magical or whatever, I wish they'd just leave the clans out of it for a year or two. Get community warfare really established, create a kickasss metagame, fully realize merc corps, etc. etc., then kick the clans in.
The game is only half finished right now, I don't want them spending all their time balancing clantech before they finish the rest of their game.
I'm all about the Clan invasion, unless it becomes JADE FALCON THIS JADE FALCON THAT.
Hey, now. Some people like the Falcons!
Okay, I like the Falcons.
I'm just hoping that they don't let you customize structure, armor, engines, and heatsinks on OmniMechs. It's gonna feel really weird to me if the starting Clan designs are appropriate for anything besides incinerating one enemy, dropping the mic, and walking away to cool down. If we can actually make stuff like the Hellbringer good (and all it would take would be ES and FF to bump the armor and heat sinks a bit), then it's gonna be a lot harder to balance Clan vs. IS. If the original Clan Omnis retain their flaws but allow for greater customization of weapons...I think 10 vs 12 would probably be pretty close to balanced, especially if they take steps to discourage mass fire for Clanners.
LRMs with no minimum, ERPPCs that do 15 damage, double heat sinks that only take 2 crits, SSRM all sizes, Ultra and LB-X all calibers, ER everything, omni points, XLs that take up less space in the side torsos and therefore aren't destroyed when side torsos are destroyed, ES and FF taking less crits...
So...what kind of stuff would the clan tech entail? I know they have the iconic TimberWolf that I grew up loving from...certain games....but like..
What do they got?
Basically what it boils down to us all their mechs are far more heavily armed, ton for ton, than Inner Sphere mechs. That comes from more hardpoints, but also more advanced weaponry that the IS doesn't get till later in the timeline.

I would hate fighting that, so it's probably good.
that xl300 is perfect for dragons, catapults and cataphracts.

it is fun being recognized in game then proceeding to rape face. just further enforceds the fear, rage and notoriety.
