I'll get it... if I manage to beat 4 by then. Otherwise I'll wait for a sale or for when I get through 4 finally. Still, what great news, my longtime EO fan bro was naysaying, "oh we never get the remakes..."

Millennium Girl is now released in Japan.
Also Atlus' parent company, Index, has filed for bankruptcy.
I just bought a 3DS XL and I went ahead and picked up EO3 and 4, even though I'm still not finished with 2. Christ, this is a lot of EO staring me in the face, and now I'm seeing something about an EO5 on the horizon?

Not quite? Millenium Girl is a remake of 1 with an actual story mode and modernized music (though Classic options for both game and music are also available).
Also, whoa at that Index news. I think I heard some rumblings of an investigation in Industry Thread where it was practically a money laundering operation by its tight-knit owners or something along those lines.

What we're getting it this is unbelievable I am shocked shocked I tell you I never thought this day would come take all my money Atlus because this is such a huge surprise.
Been playing this since it came out, basically only at lunch and on breaks. Finally beat it.
Final boss kicked my low sixties party back and forth across the planet the first few times; respawning hands too fast for me to ever really hurt him. Third time around? Knock out the hands, and the death effect on the low level dagger I never bothered upgrading on my Arcanist procs and one-shots his ass at full health.
I wonder if they are going to go all out with voices and everything. I'm still on the fence about it because it sounds like it does not have subclasses that I am accustomed too, and that the story mode characters have set classes.
Have you heard about the Millennium Girl? She's coming to North America on the Nintendo 3DS for $39.99 on October 1, 2013! Take advantage of the game's two modes, including the brand new story mode, to get the most out of Etrian Odyssey Untold.
In story mode: Join Fredericka and her companions on their mission to solving the mystery behind her past.
In classic mode: Rediscover the origins and secrets of Etria by mapping out a fresh 3D portrayal of the land.
Begin a new journey through the land of Etria in 3D October 1st!
Was playing IV the other night and came across a surprise. A quest for a 'Rose Ice Crystal' a client wanted to give to her brother (third labyrinth). I get there, discover there is one of them (they are rare), when suddenly a guard shows up and says he wants it for his lover.
I know the pronoun game when I see it.
So I let him have it, go back to town, and yes, indeed, the woman cancelled the quest because her brothers lover had just given him a Rose Ice Crystal, and how can she compete?
Before this I only played through 1 (and maybe 80% of 2), and I was NOT expecting gay content. Made my night.

I am thinking of subclassing Arcanist (for those sweet, sweet bind circles) on the Medic or the Sniper.
It would make the sniper amazing and keeping things bound, but on the other hand, Medic doesn't usually heal every turn and this would give more things to do.
But Medic/Runemaster would let the medic keep up the elemental buffs debuffs I never seem to have time for when casting on the Runemaster.
Thoughts?

The Arcanist's passive boost also works well with the bind-shots, or so I hear.
The elemental buffs are pretty good.
Yeah, and I feel bad I never get to use them a lot because often it seems more important to start in on the exploding things with fire. I think Medic/Runemaster would be perfect for that, since she never has anything to do first turn anyway.

Sniper/Arcanist really comes in on their own once you get access to the third tier of skill and you can get a TP refund on binds. The difference that makes is night and day. All of a sudden a binds sniper goes from being a terrible TP hog who needs as much TP support as possible to a nigh self-sustaining tormentor of mobs.
Medic/Arcanist could work, but since Arcanists require high Luck, which is a stat Medics won't get that much of as part of their class, the sub-class isn't going to be too reliable. Arcanist/Medic is more viable as healing isn't a binary effect. Since you've got a heavy back line, you may want to consider Medic/Dancer. Dances can help fill in the dead time, provide a buff to the back line (or front line as necessary via the free line changes) and the dancer sub-class unlocks Bows for the Medic, giving you the option of having more auto-attack damage in exchange for Tec.
Medic/Rune is an 'obvious' choice as they are both Tec classes, but just be careful as the Runemaster's skills are on a different order when it comes to TP costs compared to the Medic. It can exacerbate TP issues. Then again, the Runemaster class passive on your 'real' Runemaster adds more elemental damage via this option if you decide to push for more than just buffing as a sub-Runemaster.
medic/dancer is interesting because you can use energy tango and and regen waltz with wide dance to party heal for a whole 1 tp. I don't find myself using a medic at all anymore though. subclass an arcanist for revive and star drop and you're good to go.
Decided to go Medic/Runemaster for now, and I may swap the medic out for another class (subclassed into Medic) later. For now I am liking the occasional free heals and Fire Rune stuff (going mostly fire on my Runemaster, atm)
Sniper got Arcanist and for now has the 'heal while walking' thing, that will get switched to the Third Tier bind stuff once I get over 40.
The Fortress, Landshark, and Runemaster I am waiting to subclass until I unlock the next two classes, I think.

I actually subclassed my Landshark as a Runemaster. That elemental damage!
That's one of the more "given" kind of character builds though (as is Medic/Runemaster). But it's very safe and can't go wrong.

I was thinking that as well, since I took advantage of the rest to respec her towards link attacks.
If you have the ability that lets your Landshark go first for a few turns, the elemental link attacks are pretty much the way to go. Get those passives that increase the amount of link attacks and the damage increase per follow. It's sooo good.
EO4 is thankfully very friendly toward respecing, so you can try things out and if they don't work respec and also get to repick your subclass.
I actually prefer the non subclass games to the ones with subclassing in it and EO 1 with all these improvements sounds dreamy.
Two EO games in one year though is nuts.
I wonder if immunize will still be bonkers...
Yeah there's no way it will be. Millennium Girl is probably going to have balancing far better than what EO2 provided to the original classes. I also expect some of the popular Hexer shenanigans to be reworked / prevented.

Do not wait to subclass them. If anything, just subclass to get the 5 extra skill points, even if you don't make use of the secondary skill set.
Landshark/Rune is really damn awesome. Vanguard + Links was the mainstay of my damage output until I got hold of the 3rd class unlock.

Well, Hexer was meh in EO1 - it was the changes in 2 that made it insane.
I miss immunize still, just because it was so bonkers. Maybe it'll just be nerfed a bit, or boost won't do +5 skill ranks (letting you do a level 15 immunize for invincibility, then axcella III to do it again when it wore off)
What's sad, is that in all these promos, the thing that hit me first was the one screenshot where they finally added a treasure chest icon to the mapping tool.

Just picked up EO4, and loving it just as much as the previous entries. Just starting the third maze at the moment, and curious when I'll unlock dualclassing. Figured it was like EO3, but that just let me have arcanists... which seem like snipers, except they bind everyone instead of just one target, heal and need less tp to do their job.

Atlus does not have a European entity. Any localization woes are not the result of their team.

I found that as long as you weren't performing the killing blow with elemental dmg, it was ok. So you can weaken them first.

So much better now.
Looks like the increase to the amount of link attacks is Tier 3, but I will hit that soon enough.

Mild EO1 spoiler involved.
Pure nostalgia for me, since this is my favorite in the series.

Like the opening cinematic:
Or the first random battle music (non-FM synth):
Or all the stratum music (non-FM synth):
I jumped immediately to the 4th stratum, and the pacing was changed to be slower. It still works quite well though.
