As far as the bonus buttons go, there's not going to be any pop quiz to earn one. I would like to trade them, though, for buttons or other shiny things.
I look forward to the meetup Saturday. Is anyone else planning to be at the Pre-PAX dinner or Thursday night gaming at the Westin? If so, we could perhaps do a little warmup trading.
PAX is coming!

I need those please!!! But I didn't do buttoneering...but I can give you something else for those!
All of my buttons are different, but clearly identifiable as a set. Is this going to be a problem?
Not at all. Remember that the trading works both ways. If you have no way of making yourself recognizable as a buttoneer, the trick is to look for other people. However once you have a few buttons that people recognize, and especially if you pick up the official button, then you'll be easier to spot than you think.

Cool, I just wanted to make sure it was OK to not be able to give out the same button to everyone, Which would suck, because it was alot of work. This will make them rare though.

Are you trading the official one or is that at the PC/handheld/something desk?

From the OP:
Official Button Pickup - Come by the BYOC Security desk any time and pick up your Official Button. I won't be there, but just ask the Enforcer behind the desk for one. They can get busy at times (especially Friday morning), so if you see a line, go look around the show and come back. There is no button drop off this time (sadface) but hopefully in future years we can get someone to take over that for East.

Wow, I love all these cool buttons! Unfortunately I did not design a button in time, as I thought we would be trading cards again -- but I will bring my cards PLUS Easter eggs filled with Skittles and jellybeans to trade with those willing
Just a reminder, that I'll be walking around giving out buttons, I'll have a red and black backback with my pins on it. The pins are white and say "I Impressed a Random Guy at Pax East 2013." I will try to make the post-pax meet-ups each day, but you'll also be able to find me in front of the Pixel Art Gallery each day at 3pm for the Wizard Duel. See you all there!
Can anyone tell me were Bandland is? Is it called something else? Is is the Rock Band free play stage? Can't seem to go d it on my map. Hope to see a bunch of you there this mornIng--hopefully one of you can post directions/nearby landmarks. Thanks!
No, it's called Bandland. It's in the main lobby of the BCEC. It is the area where the nerd celebrities have their signing booths and stuff, near the set of escalators opposite the info booth. It is on both the main pax map and the dya maps.

Just wanted to say Thanks to all the awesome Buttoneers I met. I feel bad because when I got home I realized that I still have 7 buttons hidden in a pocket in my backpack so I could have traded a few more. Oh well, they'll be specials for next year. I hope all those that Impressed me enjoyed the buttons. My friend and I gave out/traded 193 buttons to cosplayers, buttoneers, and just plain cool people. This was my first year doing it, but not the last and I already have some great ideas for next year! Again, Thanks and it was awesome meeting all of you!
Sadly missed the last meet up, the omegathon ran over and we had to do some things for the brigade before we could leave the convention center.
I have some cookie brigade bonus pins along with mine and Robziel's pins left. Not a lot though, but I would be happy to mail one to anyone who wants them.
Things didn't go so hot for me. I was only able to find two buttoneers even though I was looking Other than that other plans made it impossible to go to either meetup, so I'm going home with a full bag of these buttons. =/
Kinda depressing, really. Still had a great time, but sad that I have no buttons to show for it.

Sorry...I was afraid of that. I don't know how big Boston is compared to Seattle, so maybe we just needed more participants. The bright side is you don't need to print any for next year?

Well as a brigadier I actually got a lot of the pins just going to the Thursday night board game night run by @lexicongrrl and the few times I was out distributing. Otherwise I didn't really socialize at PAX because of brigade obligations. There were plenty of buttoneers and most were obvious during PAX, at least in my experience.
I think it had more to do with how you spent your time and where.
My hat for the record is nearly covered in other people's pins.

I found quite a few buttoneers throughout the weekend. I gave away what I had left in the main theater line before the final omegathon.
I strung my two buttons down my lanyard and kept my eyes open for fellow buttoneers. I even bartered away some of them for loot.

So if there is enough interest I'll run and organize the post pax swap. If you have left covers send them to me and a list of the ones you're missing and I'll match them up and send your sets.
It sounds like a bunch of folks are empty, so I don't know if there's demand for this, but if there is, I'll do it.
“Myth is the hidden part of every story, the buried part, the region that is still unexplored because there are as yet no words to enable us to get there."
I was just asking anyone with a ton of pins on their lanyard, bag or clothing if they were trading and got a lot of "YES!". that made it pretty easy to trade. I'll definitely be doing this again next year. I won't do the post-pax swap since I only have 7 pins left and promised a few to friends, but I'll have the extras for next year as bonus buttons, and hopefully i'll have a big buttoneering surprise for next year too, the designs are already in the works!
Missed the Saturday meetup but nice to meet all of you who made it to the Sunday evening meetup. I certainly see my and Pickett's buttons in some of the pictures posted so far. As for the issue of it being tough to find other buttoneers, I suspect it was a combination of the lower number of buttoneers at East and the layout of the building. I have made a TON of trades at Prime due to seeing other buttoneers on the three tier main entry escalator set of the WSCTC and arranging to hold at a landing to trade (if you've been to Prime, hopefully you know where I mean). There just isn't an equivalent at East, and it feels more spread out, making it easier to miss people.
im SO glad i made the most of my first PAX and did buttoneering It was great meeting you all and trading for awesome buttons! I still have like 100 and something buttons left so about 50 of them will be making their way to prime this year
I had a great time at my first PAX, and I'm glad I made the most of it by buttoneering. I handed out all 50 of my personal buttons, and we managed to get rid of all 600 of our booth buttons. Though my favorite part of PAX wass when I got juiced by Fruit Fucker, only to later find out that it was Cliff Bleszinski...nerdgasm
I did most of my swapping at the Westin Thursday night which was fun. It would have helped had I not been late for the Saturday meeting, but the need for sleep took a little precedence. Between preparation, travel, and actual PAX'ing, being on the go (and mostly on my feet) eighteen hours a day for five days took its toll.
I have plenty of buttons left if there's any post-PAX swap... and any leftovers will be back in Boston next year.

My husband took a lot of pics from the Sunday Meet up so once we get through everything I'll see if I can get them posted.
It was a really fun time and great meeting everyone of you that I could and I look forward to swapping Buttons next year.
I also have a bunch of buttons left over for any Post Pax swaps that might happen
