What about when Force Unleashed II uses Dagobah and Yoda? I got to the point where Starkiller (or whatever) gets to Dagobah, bumps into Yoda, and they both go 'sup' and promptly uninstalled that garbage.
And yeah the tech thing is fairly minor. I mean once you get interstellar travel I'm sure things slow down. This discussion always reminds me of this and then I feel dumb:
Personally, I would love to have a C'thulhu cartoon where after eating a civilization it goes "You just got C'thulhu'd". I just have that sense of humor, though.
EDIT: To be honest, though, I think EU got completely screwed up a decade+ ago when we had all of these other Jedi popping up in the books during a time when Luke was supposed to be the last of the Jedi. Once I got over that, though, nothing EU-wise really phases me anymore.
As for using the same worlds, yeah it can be a bit annoying, but when working with licensed material, early on at least you stick with the familiar places in order to draw people in. I have no problems with, say TOR, Jedi Academy, and Forced Unleashed all using Hoth. Each is a separate work, so I can forgive it. I have problems when, say, all three Rogue Squadron games use Hoth.
Now I'm wondering, are any of the planets in TOR new?
At least all the Squadron games were the same battle from different viewpoints.
As for New-New... maybe Voss and Belsavis? I'm not familiar with EU lore, but I think those are pretty safe.

Voss is pretty much brand new; the Voss barely existed in the EU beforehand.

I'm not gonna miss the grind of Ilum, but the credits are nice. A full run of dailies, heroic and pvps net me 130k and that's without selling the gear that was dropped or gtn-ing the metals I scavenged.
BTW: Apparently Quesh and Voss are new. (from what I read in wookiepedia)
I always wrote off the relative technological stagnation as social commentary on the presence of a quasi-religious oligarchy.
Say what you want, but ain't no one doin squat if yoda don't want it.
There would simply come a point where it was difficult to improve on technology in significant ways. Also you should consider that while a ship from the TOR era that looks like a Star Destroyer might look the same, presumably the inner workings of the SD would be much more advanced. The TOR era ship would have a rank 1 laser cannon or whatever and the SD would have a rank 10. Iterative improvements rather than aesthetically obvious ones.
The real reason? Star Wars is fun let's make all the stuff Star Warsy
I wonder if they're gonna up thre comm limit for non subs with the change..
Considering subscribers themselves are about to be under not only a severely limited comm cap come 2.0, but are also about to be slapped with a weekly cap on comms that they can earn, I'd imagine not.
what the shit?
Why are they limiting on subscribers on ANYTHING?!
There's always been limits to comms, even for subscribers.

These new limits do look a bit low though.
There have never been weekly limits to planetary comm gain and the max planetary comms is so high i've never hit it.

Yeah, I wasnt super pleased when they limited the amount of reputation you could gain in a week, but it also didnt really bother me since you could defer using the items that give you the rep (and the limit was high enough that you could feel like you made some progress and if you only had 1 or 2 characters it would take you more than a day to hit it, although I personally hit it day 1 because I have a lot of characters and a lot of free time).
But the cap on coms you can get in a week? Insane. You can get 35/week just by doing the daily flashpoints while leveling via the group finder, plus another 4-6 (I assume theyve changed this, but I didnt think to test it out so) for turning in the quest for doing a flashpoint (also a daily, so 28-42).
And judging purely by what Ive experienced trying to get my character gear on the PTS, the 350 com limit is too low. Cheapest gear (boots, gloves) are 100 coms, head and pants are 120 with chest being 140. So stuff is more expensive and you can hold fewer coms. I guess this just means I'll end up with more crafting mats/learned schematics (despite the 10% reduction in chance to learn).
Ah, apparently there's now been a "unofficial and subject to change at any time" heads up from devs about how comms conversion is going to work. Basically 1:1 for BH comms to Classic Comms, 4:1 or worse for everything else.
Things I have learned in my short time on the PTS:
Crafting:
- it costs almost 10k to rip out mods/armorings/enhancements
- you dont get Exotic Element Equalizers (new version of stabilizers) from REing mods (havent tried enhancements yet), only from armorings and ears
- to make a mod it takes 1 Mass Manipulation Generator (equivalent to the matrix cubes or whatever you get from REing 61/63 gear) and 4 exotic element equalizers
- they only take 42 minutes to craft on a companion with full rep, 37 minutes on SCORPIO
- armoring costs are the same as mod costs (1 purple cube, 4 blue equalizers), no apparent underworld trading material necessary
Crew Skills:
- you can now run Rich rank crafting missions at 450 and they take about 40 minute (again, on a companion with full affection but no +efficiency)
Character:
- It takes a lot more of a stat to hit the levels we were seeing in Black Hole gear - with 611 crit rating and the Agent buff Im sitting at 30.23% crit. To get here I have lost about 54 bonus damage.
- Im on my Sniper, so these numbers may be different for different characters.
- Even with +3% to hit from my skill tree, it took me 504 accuracy rating to hit 100% (100.84%) ranged
- My surge has dropped about 14%
- I have gained about 8k hp
Sniper:
- Im not sure going full marksman is worth it any more, there seem to be a lot of useless talents near the top of the tree, however its possible Entrench is going to be way more necessary
- Covered Escape is kinda cool, I dont know what level you get it but I can see it being used as a ghetto force speed
Regarding the cost to extract mods from gear: On Test, it's actually cheaper to extract the level 55 stuff than it currently is to extract the stuff on Live.
On Live, a Dread Guard armoring costs about 12k to extract.
On Test? Arkanian armorings are about 9k.
- The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (2017, colorized)
...wait....so you actually get less powerful as you go from 50-55? What?
All the stats have been reworked, so that when you copy over your dread-guard 50 over to the PTS, you'll see all your stats have gone way down. So much so that even after you put on the 55 gear, it's still lower than current dread guard levels. They've changed the diminishing return numbers as well.
Cambiata, did you ever get your Guardian tossed over to Test? If so, how has the Alacrity on the default Arkanian gear worked out for you? I've messed with a it a bit on my Vanguard, but the low amount of it proves almost unnoticeable.
Also, as a PSA for all you Sorc/Mercenary/Powertech DPS who rely mostly on Force/Tech damage: thanks to changes in 2.0, you need accuracy too. Despite that 100% base Force/Tech accuracy level, your stuff can now miss, especially in ops.

Yeah there's hardly any of it anyway and I didn't notice a difference on the speed of my skills, so I just itemized it out. I itemized out as much accuracy as I could, too. Still didn't approach the shield and defense numbers I had before, though.
However, I really enjoy the full defense spec now. The surprising thing I found was that it's more difficult to pull threat from fully geared healers than it is on live. On live, the only thing I have to do to pull threat from a healer is to attack the mob that the healer has pulled. That doesn't seem to work on the pts. This surprises me especially because of the "high threat" moves I've spec'd in to that I don't have on live.
It's possible that they've also done something wonky with healing threat. I was doing the first boss of Hard Mode Scum and Villainy last night, and I was having trouble peeling adds off of the healers as a DPS.
- The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (2017, colorized)
Okay...so...after the patch my stats will just straight go down? How am I supposed to tank/damage the things I already fight at 50? We now have to get to 55 and somehow magically get new gear to do the 50 Ops, which will have worse gear that what we're wearing by then? I'm confused.

Well technically, your defense, shield and absorb will go down. Your health will go up dramatically. Even when itemizing towards the lower endurance, higher def/shield on mods, I still had over 33k health with the new gear.
Edit: also this is not taking in to account augments.
So with tonight maintenance postponed, does that mean we get the gree for a bit longer?
No.
Hey, I just wanted to pop in and address this. Even with the maintenance postponed the Gree Event will still be ending tomorrow. It will end at approximately 5am CST.
- The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (2017, colorized)
I guess I'm wondering how it will be possible to run HM Ops, especially the harder ones, if everything but Endurance drops so dramatically. It's not making any sense to me.

There were already tanks who believed that defensive stats weren't as important as stacking endurance, and they were able to survive ops. The healers made up the difference. And having played a healer on the PTS, I can say that though it's intense, the the buffs they've given to sage healers, at least, make it doable. Shadows tanks even have a raid-wide heal buff they can give.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Nobody's been doing any Ops during this event anyways, except Xeno of course. I wonder if I should even bother augmenting everything right now, I was just about done saving up money for that.
Good thing I didn't augment any of the Gree stuff then...

Bounty Hunter story spoilers - Alderaan
Alderaan was great. I got to punch some people of course, and then this one dude was like "kill him, bodyguard" and I go "yeah sure, you're the one with the credits" and shot him. (Mako disapproving, though I don't know why). And then finally I put Raffid in charge and married him for no other reason than a quick fuck and a title.
I'm right back into the game. Although F2P this time around (preferred technically). I haaaaate the F2P limitations, which seem to do more to discourage me from playing at all rather than encouraging me to upgrade to sub status. But I suspect the system as it is is designed more to attract players who have never played and never subbed rather than guys like me who had preorders of the original box.
Even so, I've bought (through rich alts that still exist) a few account wide unlocks and almost got the game back to 'default'. I now have titles, legacy titles, Section X unlocked account wide, and 10 more inventory slots unlocked account wide. I almost have the money to buy the 3rd crew skill unlock account wide, but it's spread out on three characters and I can't transfer credits between characters
The hutt cartel thing I preordered also comes with a month of subscriber status, which I'm guessing unlocks when the Hutt Cartel expansion is finally released. At that point I'll also get about 500k released from escrow across my characters. So I'll use this money to try and unlock more quality of life things for when it goes back to F2P assuming I'm still interested in the game at that point.
Instead of playing my old characters though, I've created two new republic characters. A smuggler and a knight. Since my highest republic character was only up to tatooine I'm excited about both characters. The knight's my solo character and the smuggler's the one I'm going to play with a friend.
I also turned off subtitles to force myself to listen to all the dialogue. I'm also pretending I never played the game before. Somehow this makes the story even more enjoyable

Ops bosses always have at least some defense. I always stack Acc to just over 100% Ranged (110% Tech) as an Assault Vanguard.

So, if we have any Republic characters running around on Shadowlands, I have a level 15ish Scoundrel who'd love a questing buddy. Or if you want to start up a new character.
