So, if we have any Republic characters running around on Shadowlands, I have a level 15ish Scoundrel who'd love a questing buddy. Or if you want to start up a new character.
What times do you usually play? As I mentioned above, I have a static character that I only play with another friend of mine but that's going to be mostly a weekend thing. My knight is my during the week solo character. he's only like level 6 now but I could probably get him to 15 in a day or two. I don't think I have any other character slots free to make another alt Maybe one slot could be freed up if I delete my 20 something bounty hunter who I have no real expectation of playing again.

Right now I'm usually playing now (our current time) and then later on in the evenings, starting around 7 or 9 central time. Is your Knight going to be a Guardian? I have a Knight I want to go Sentinel with, he's level 5.
My Knight is going to be a guardian, but I'm est, and will usually be on around 6 or 7pm eastern unless there's a hockey game on. We can team up tonight, that'll be fun to me, however the purpose of my knight is to have someone to play when my other friend isn't online. So I might get ahead (or fall behind) with my knight.
Tonight I think we're going to do hammer station though, if you want to join us!

alright, my Scoundrel's name is Ulys and my Sentinel is Khaldas. I might be on a bit later than you tonight though, but whenever I'm on is fine with me.

Despite my apprehensions about 2.0, I'm still pretty excited for it. I've pretty much stopped playing my 50s while waiting for it, though, since there doesn't seem to be a lot of point to doing so.
Also for new players: I just want to throw out there that I am an officer in a robust and thriving guild on the Jedi Covenant server. If you ever feel lonely on Shadowlands, you could roll a character on JC.

ORLY.
I'm not new but I have like 1 Republic character that I've bothered to invest any time into and I'm not really attached to him.
I wonder when 2.0 is supposed to hit, part of me doesn't want to play until it does since hitting the com cap is probably going to happen to me and then, sadly, I kind of want the achievements.
Oh, Bioware released their plans for the com conversion, Black Hole coms are exchanged 1:1, dailies 2:1 Columi 4:1 and tionese 6:1.

If bioware is feeling generous with the com conversions, they'll let the initial conversion go over the cap, like how dropping from sub to preferred doesn't drop what you have to the lowered cap.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

Iirc, they are doing that...something like 800 maybe

If you like the cover system you've likely made at least some use of, sniper is likely a good choice. If you'd rather run around shanking people and/or healing while also being stealthy, operative.

Keep in mind at end game most people only want operatives for healing since their dps is generally subpar. Personally, I enjoy healing on my scoundrel and have spent most of my endgame time dpsing on a sniper so.
I tried Sniper initially and the playstyle just didn't do it for me (too similar to and felt much slower than my Mercenary), but I ended up loving playing as an Operative dps. If you want to get into end game operations you're better off playing a sniper or being an Operative healer. As much as I enjoy dps'ing as an Operative the specialization is in serious need of a buff to make it competitive or worthwhile to bringing to progression and/or nightmare modes. However, if you have no intention of ever getting into end game content, Operative dps is a lot of fun and they make fantastic healers.
The comparison is slightly unbalanced because my Merc is in full 63's and has about 350 more primary stat than my Operative in full 61's, but I have to play my ass off to be middling dps on my Operative versus my Merc which easily puts out 400-1000 more dps depending on the fight.
If you need to transfer money, just put a random green you can remember the name of up on the GTN for a high price. Then switch to the character with money and buy it from your alt.
You can mail money and items cross faction without having to go through GTN malarkey. Just make the recipient of the email the name of the character you want to send it to. I mailed items all the time from my Imp main to a Pub alt while I was leveling him.

f2p/preferred can't mail credits, hence the GTN workaround.

Ahh ok, my bad. I didn't realize he was f2p/preferred. Then yeah, the GTN thing is the only way.
They probably have the lowest dps in the game and while my guild wouldn't shun you, we would definitely prefer something else.
I also found that leveling as a scoundrel/operative took some time to get enjoyable since you're subject to a lot of potential damage (I leveled with a tank companion and would cc the silver mob in the group) and you don't get an opener for a while. It was just a drastic change from the survivability of my sniper, jug and sorc healer.

Quick question for Agents out there; which A-Class is better for a player that's trying out the class for the first time?
I leveled an Operative to 50 and regretted it somewhat. While I'm not huge on the cover system, at least you get a great view of the combat while you're shooting, especially in flashpoints, as a sniper. Most Operative dps builds are heavy into knifing builds. So you shiv people over and over again. That wasn't really for me.
However, operatives get stealth, which is great while leveling for skipping pain in the ass areas.
I wonder if the account-wide inventory unlocks apply to other servers as well? That would be supremely helpful, since I kind of want to roll a character on shadowlands

Account-wide would suggest it is for all servers, not just the server you apply it on.

I enjoy the hell out of scoundrel DPS, and I have done HM ops with her (not nightmare though). Scoundrel even has some special utility the way sniper/gunslinger does, in that it's one of the classes that can pull a "dirty rez."
Still I'm rolling a gunslinger too, and a commando as well, partly because I really need ranged and partly because scoundrel dps is too situational. But while I can't compete with the top dpsers in my guild, I'm not at the bottom, either (and I am one of only 2 scoundrel dps, and we rarely both run the same ops).

It does, I have used it with characters on three different servers.

Oh yeah, forgot to ask. What's the good or bad word on the Agent's talent trees? Any on either side I should avoid barking up on?
I haven't done a great study of it, but I use the far left tree on my sniper, and the middle tree for my scoundrel. Left tree on sniper is sharpshooter, I think, and I enjoy it but supposedly with 2.0 it won't be as viable anymore.

Is the dirty rez, the in combat rez?
In combat rez is just a regular every day battle rez, which yes a scoundrel can do, along with all the other healer classes (sage and commando).
The dirty rez is where a scoundrel or a shadow (or in imp parlance, an operative or an assasin) uses their in-combat stealth to take themselves out of combat in a boss fight, and then uses a regular out-of-combat rez. It provides an extra rez when the BR is on cooldown. But only once per stealth class, since the in combat stealth skill has as long of a cooldown as the br does.

No, dirty rez is when you have a stealth character pop their "exit combat" ability and try to use their out of combat res. As long as nothing happens to put them back into combat before the activation time finishes, it works.

I think Marksman/left tree is the most viable for leveling (and its what Ive used for raiding, it puts up pretty good numbers), but I think the highest dps currently goes to a engineering/lethality hybrid (middle and right trees).
Looking at the talents coming in 2.0, full marksman doesnt seem worth it but maybe they'll make changes.

While there are some really great folks Pub-side on Shadowlands, most of the big guilds over there are kind of... well... incompetent.

Also nice to know that the new com type can to be used to purchase campaign quality gear (63?) which apparently is usable until level 54-55ish.
