True, but when they're charging you 1800, you'd think they'd do the check for you.
Why? As pointed out by Javen, its still significantly cheaper than WoW charges people. It's also cheaper than Guild Wars 2's transfer (GW2 charges $20 for 1600 gems vs SWTOR's $20 for 2400 coins, and both transfers cost 1800 of their respective unit).
So it looks like they are planning to take down the asian/pacific servers soon. I just got an email that I can move them for free now. Otherwise, when the time comes they'll automatically be moved from
Dalborra -> The Harbinger
Master Dar'Nala -> The Bastion
Gav Daragon -> Bergeren Colony

Meh. "It's stupid expensive in other MMO:s" isn't a great sales pitch IMO.
(Not only because I don't play those games. For various reasons.)
That people can squat names, and/or check if they are taken on a destination server, doesn't mean they can't offer their customers a nice service. Again, IMO.
Taking your customers credits, and then letting them know, "yeah, you should have checked that your name was available if you wanted to keep it", is to me a douche move.
If the game had more than a half dozen servers in North America, and if we didn't have to go through no less than two rounds of forced server mergings where the player had no say in their destinations, and if we weren't strung along for a year with promises that server transfers are coming "Real Soon Now™", then $20 would be a fine asking price for transfers.
Subscribers should get a discount for this, at the very least.

The server mergers were great for the game, so I don't really care if each special person didn't get to pick his or her own very special server that he wanted to go to. The merges they did let existing guilds stay together and didn't just randomly throw people in different directions, which means they could make sure every server was kept at a healthy population, something free for all transfers wouldn't have done.

Really not a fan of the fact that Cybertech and Artifice can't RE level 31 mods.
Are you talking about Kel Dragon stuff or the current Underworld stuff? Because the Underworld stuff is about to become craftable, but if crafting 30s is any indication it'd going to be super fucking expensive and not worth the time to learn the patterns.

I don't know what Kel Dragon is. I'm talking about the Verpine/Underworld stuff, and it's totally worth it to me if I an learn the pattern. I made a mint on Dread Guard level stuff before 2.0.

You could if youre fortunate enough to get the (one) crafting mat that drops off the final boss in HM S&V (and maybe HM TFB). And thats after burning through a bunch of coms to learn the pattern you want to craft.
Is there a list of the CC costs of unlocking a collections available anywhere? Minor clarification, I am not asking for the CC costs to buy the item or items. Once you have the items, you can see the costs. I would like to know the costs before I buy them on GTN. I might actually buy some of the overpriced items e.g., covert waist and other items in this collection, if all my toons could make use of the items for a nominal cost.
If you go into the Collections menu and scroll down a bit, then click on a particular pack, it will show you what all you can get out of it.
Excluding junk items like crafting mats, of course.
I know that but I keep getting speeders I would like to know if any of the others have something I would like
I'm not certain what you're asking about then. I'm looking at my Collections menu right now, and it's showing everything - speeders, armor, crystals, everything - that is in every cartel pack.

@assuran hey, was it you that said you could make the old bounty hunter gear?

Yes, I can make the battlemaster eliminator and medic gear, on Assuran.
However, I'm in the middle of moving and haven't logged on to TOR in two weeks.
I think I'll get my gaming computer set up some time this week though (probably later in the week).

Cool, I'll probably bother you about it later on then when you're set up, could use a set.

I had a friend tell me that you can't pull out set armorings and put them in any orange shell anymore. He said that set armoring can only be pulled out and slotted into cartel market gear. Is that true?

No.
But if you pull a an armoring out of a chest/leg/etc piece it can only be put in any modable chest/leg/etc piece.

It always amuses me when one of the missions is "infiltrate the [whatever] base", where "infiltrate" means "kill everyone."
Still, it would be kind of fun if some of those infiltrate missions were about dressing up like a member of the group and trying to pretend like you belong there. I think Imperial Agent has at least one mission like that, but I think all of the classes could use some mssions like that.

It would be great if they came up with a mission that acted differently depending on what class you were, but it was actually the same mission. Maybe even advanced classes--a Jedi Shadow might have to remain unseen whenever possible, while a Jedi Sage could talk her way through things. A Jedi Knight would have to use the Force to cloud minds. A Smuggler would be able to bluff her way in. A Trooper, meanwhile...oh, Troopers.
It's not Star Wars, but it is from a Bioware game and it's an infiltration quest.

My favorite is the Trooper mission to infiltrate the casino's secret upstairs suite. "Infiltrate" in this case means for you and your buddy to walk in the front door of a crowded, brightly lit casino lugging assault cannons.

Maintenance tomorrow morning, patch 2.2 goes live during that time.
It always amuses me when one of the missions is "infiltrate the [whatever] base", where "infiltrate" means "kill everyone."
Sad part is that just like most other games, stealthing means you miss out on a lot of XP and loot.
Sure, you can compensate for the XP by doing an extra bonus mission, or two. And the loot isn't something that a daily mission in BH or Sx won't more than compensate for, but still ...
I wish the game would reward stealth classes for stealthing ... Or am I drifting too far off into RP territory?

The only way to do this is to remove XP from killing and only reward it for accomplishing goals (enter X base, reach Y room, get Z data). I think a LOT of MMO players would avoid the game if they got no XP for kills.

Had this exact problem with my Inquisitor after finishing Alderaan. He stealthed everywhere, and while that made the quests easy, he missed so much experience that he entered Belsavis badly under-leveled. A very bad idea, because Belsavis is where the game's difficulty really ramps up.
GW2 handles stealth missions quite effectively. Indeed, there are a number of class story missions where you disguise yourself before entering the bandits' camp or wherever. You gain XP from doing so much stuff besides killing in GW2 that the sneakiness doesn't hurt you.

Secret World also does very good stealth missions. Best part about them is they dont tell you that they are stealth missions. A lot of them involve disguises, stealing passwords, hacking computers, etc. And the stealth is player movement vs NPC movement, no stealth button saves so anyone can do them. Some missions like that could be fun in Swtor but they would have to include you leaveing your companion behind.

I'm sure that before each companion got pigeonholed into one of five types/catagories, that idea was in the works.
I do wish there were more "companion team-up" missions. Trooper and Warrior get a couple of good ones. Granted, it's really nothing more then sending the correct person to the object for a bonus but that make me feel more like a leader of sorts.
Is there a PA guild on jedi covenant? I'm terwef there. 49 Sentinel nearly 450 cyber tech. Gots no gold nor friends. Just a few alts...

No official PA guild there, no.
Technically speaking there is no PA imp guild at all anymore since the one on Shadowlands got absorbed into another guild. AFAIK, the pub guild on Shadowlands is barely active.

Notes from livestream today:
Jeff said 2.2 should be this week.
Patch 2.3 - August 6, brand new recurring event (L15+ to participate), new daily area, new flashpoint, new graphical upgrades. Event will launch ~ 1 week after patch.
Those going to cantina tours will be getting exclusive new info about upcoming patches via SWTOR thumbdrive. Those going to the LA meet and greet in 3 days will get patch 2.3 info and Jeff will buy you a drink.
Not done with Dread Masters but can't talk much about it.
Working on cross server PvP queue. Trying to resolve queue issues in patch 2.4. Patch 2.4 will be the biggest PvP update since launch.
Cathar sold well but new species not anytime soon. Takes a long time to develop them.
Around July 4 and end of July you will see subscriber only benefits.
Rakghoul DNA, you should keep them just in case. Alot of back and forth about Rakghoul event, not clear if it is coming back.
SSSP - yes it exists, and is based on player feedback but that is all we can say right now.
Using /stuck in a warzone while in combat will add 20 seconds to your rez timer in patch 2.2.1.
Hood toggle - we are working on it but it would be alot easier if we added it in from the beginning. A lot of work to add them now.
