Not content with putting its heroes and villains on the big and small screens, it looks like Marvel's working to bring its characters to a city near you with a new touring stage show. Marvel has announced that it's teaming up with Feld Entertainment Inc., the organization behind the Ringling Bros., Barnum & Bailey Circus, and Disney on Ice, to produce a Marvel superhero live show.
The new live show follows the oft-mocked Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark Rock Musical, which was initially infamous for being dangerous, wildly expensive and fraught with in-fighting. Of course, Turn Off The Dark has also been a serious and steady financial success thus far, making a different brand of live show seem like a safe bet for the House of Ideas.
Marvel's Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada told Billboard that he'd been wary of attempting this with other companies before and that "You always have those questions - how are you going to keep it from being goofy, or silly, or unbelievable?" Feld Entertainment Inc. productions apparently had the skill to sway him, though as Quesada remarked "They're already doing feats that are superhuman to begin with."
The show's plot is still in the planning stages, but Kenneth Feld, Feld Entertainment CEO, said that the basic plot outline is a no-brainer. "The world will be in jeopardy, and the Marvel superheroes will save the world."
what
What happened with that Batman live show, anyhow? Are these things really huge draws?
Looks like it was super successful in England but had to cancel a few shows here in America
That may have been because they had too many shows though because it did well in bigger cities and got decent reviews for a stage show about Batman
Also, Ares showed up in this week's issue of the comic, was name dropped a while back alongside Black Adam, Sinestro and Hawkgirl and on XBL you can buy an Ares helmet for your avatar.
So
Ares is in.
That super is ridiculous
I'm disappointed at Ares, though. He's not really a DC character. Like, he shows up in Wonder Woman stories sometimes (and is different every time) but he doesn't really interact in the universe
And his design is the Injustice comics is awful and generic
I don't even like Martian Manhunter and I would give him a spot over Ares

Hawkgirl but no Martian Manhunter?
That's like including Daredevil in a Marvel game but not the Hulk.

I guess they want to make sure every hero in the game also as an opposite from their respective rogue galleries, which would explain Ares. It seems Batman and Superman get more than one, though, which explains Doomsday. since Batman has Bane, Joker, and Harley, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a third Superman villain.
If Captain Cold isn't in it then Flash doesn't have one.
Or Hawkgirl. Or Cyborg. Or Aquaman. Or Nightwing/Green Arrow depending on who you pair with Deathstroke.

I could see Deathstroke counting as a Green Arrow villain, if they wanted to force the issue. Have they confirmed no Captain Cold? Aquaman has a couple of decent villains. I admit to being stumped on Hawkgirl and Cyborg, though.

What? Yes Ares is a DC character. Just because he's based on a mythological figure doesn't mean comic companies can't make their own versions. Comic companies have been doing that for decades. He's also one of Wonder Woman's main enemies, and shared her arch-enemy spot with Circe Post-Crisis. He wasn't changed anymore then other characters with rotating creating teams.
But Ares over someone like J'onn or Jaime who probably aren't making the cut
that's dumb as hell
Ares is a big time DCU super-villain. Its good he's getting adapted for a big project like this. That said, I agree J'onn and Jaime Reyes deserve to be in it, too.
Wouldn't Jaime be really similar to Cyborg though?
If they can distinguish between Sinestro and Hal, they can distinguish between Beetle and Cyborg. One imagines that Beetle can do everything Cyborg could do in the comics, but in the game it'd be easy to make Cyborg into the bruiser and Beetle into the more agile character.
Gametrailer reveal for Injustice was up early, but got taken down.
It's Raven. Who is evil.
That's 21 confirmed characters (with Black Adam all-but-confirmed, making 22). Assuming the figure of 24 characters in the roster is still accurate, that leaves two spots. Ares seems likely for one, and the other would have to be the mystery woman from that achievement leak (speculated to be Killer Frost since...well, there has to be an ice-user somewhere based off the original trailer).
Harry, Ares obviously is a DC character. He is just an incredibly minor one with no real consistent interpretation to make it into Injustice.
The video-game's creators disagree with you. From the Ares versions I've read there wasn't anything that drastic between them. That Ares is a minor bad guy in the DCU means they need to start letting him branch out and this might be a way to do that.
With Netherrealm I'm not getting any hopes up for DLC until it's actually officially announced. Yeah, there'll probably be DLC but I'm not going to speculate or hope for anything ahead of time.
The hyped the heck out of DLC for MK (New Modes! New Arenas! New Fatalities! New Costumes! New Characters! New Challenges!) and then did not deliver. All of the costumes (which were just ninja palette swaps) and fatalities (only 3 of them) were all preorder bonuses that were on the disc to begin with and the four characters they released (one of which was a guest) were all missing like a dozen minor things here and there compared to regular characters. No new arenas, challenges, or modes were ever released (though there were some references to a Survival mode called "Endurance Mode" in the game's code).
The eventual PSP version did fix some of the missing things with the DLC characters and gave some additional modes and a new arena, but who cares about the PSP version?
Granted, I guess they do deserve some credit for being the fighting game to have the most DLC characters that weren't already on the disc. Still, after MK and knowing what a massive troll Ed Boon is, not going to foster any hope towards any particular DLC until it is specifically announced.
Though actually, I haven't even decided if I'm getting the game or not yet. My current thought is "Maybe after the price drop as something to play around with if the story (or character portrayals) isn't offensively bad."
Well obviously they disagree with me? Otherwise we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Nothing about Ares we have seen makes it look like they are trying anything new or inventive. He looks like a generic evil warlord and has the same motives as he typically does.
Putting him in over Martian Manhunter or Firestorm or another more popular character seems like a big waste.
I swear to Wolverine if they put Pepper's armour in this movie I'll fight a guy, there will be a scene and it won't be pleasant. Good day.
why would anyone be mad about that?
I guess he can fight me? But I don't want to fight, I just want to see Pepper decide to suit up and kick some ass because there are asses that need kicking and she's tired of people blowing up her house or something.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!

This kinda worries me. Yeah, he has the body for it, but I thought that Jason Momoa would have been the better choice. I just don't know if Bautista has any acting chops, and this is coming from a guy that watched him through out his WWE career. He never really looked comfortable in any of the roles that they put him in.

Them fucking up has nothing to do with the character. Had they given Ares a unique take would you have considered it a waste?
"I did the Justice League thing the wrong way. I read too much on the internet. You can’t do that. The internet is the devil. Or the internet is not the devil, the comment boards are the devil. Believe me, I’ve been on the opposite side on there, too saying, “You can’t let that guy be that character!” But really [in the case of Justice League] it was Weta, Weta, Weta, Weta, Weta. They are amazing and they can make anybody look like anything."

Though how worse could be it than in the new 52?

She looks like Injustice's Ermac which terrifies me. Also she has some heavy duty manvoice.
totally random question, how strong is trigon compared to say, somebody like darkseid as far as threats go
He was the main villain in the Wonder Woman animated feature released a few years back. 'twas a good movie too.
Edit: Also, most of the MK costume DLC was NOT on the disc. They offered a lot of them as free downloads in compatibility packs for DLC characters.

That can be an entertaining Ares. Perez debut arc with him was amazing.
