Hello! You're looking nice today.
So I've run into a snag recently. The PC has spoiled me for co-op. I get games cheap as heck, I can buy and send copies to friends in a second, we can team up that afternoon. But some of my friends don't have a fancy PC. They want to come over and play shit locally. That, I am realizing, is kind of an issue! I've got tons of great single-player games for the 360, but only a few that involve even 2-player couch co-op, much less 4.
Now, I want to make it clear that 4-player split screen isn't necessary. Some games are great fun when traded off, some games are entertaining to watch while you wait your turn or are fun to shout advice about, etc etc.
What are some candidates for great local co-op? I've had limited luck with the site "Co-Optimus". There's not the best sorting, and their "reviews" are useless.
Tell me the shit that you enjoy playing with friends and maybe I will get it and that would be fun for everyone.

I have very fond memories of Guardian of Light, I will have to break that out again maybe. Oh and Scott Pilgrim could be fun times. Portal 2 is amazing but already played by 3/4 of the people I know unfortunately.
I had no idea Geometry Wars 2 was co-op! Also, Kill Team is worth playing? I kind of dismissed it as a cheap knock-off. Is it 4-player?
You're not going to find a lot of 4 player games, but many of the shooters have split screen, including both Borderlands.
Schizoid is fucking awesome too. But REQUIRES two people to get the most out of it. No more, no less.
The classics are hard to beat in general. Bomberman is still great.
I've heard good things about Rayman:Origins 4 player coop.
L4D2 is great because it has a ton of content and is coop, which I like a lot more than competitive shooters on splitscreen, it has a lot of content especially if you pay the extra $7 for the L4D1 content.
The Cave is another good one. Goes up to 3 player local co op.
Edit: I did not know Sacred 2 had co op... does it have online too?
Oh, if you go LEGO start with Star Wars if you're interested in that one at all because the rest of them make the Star Wars ones impossible to go back to.
Damnit what? I was about to DL this last night but the demo text said local co-op wasn't a feature so I D/L'd demo for Carcassone instead. Offline, local co-op?
Great thread + suggestions so far, I also find Co-Optimus hard to grind through.
Can second Bomberman, Geometry Wars 2, Castle Crashers, Scott Pilgrim.
ALSO! Next month coming to XBLA is Terraria (you're a PC gamer so may have it already). I'm anxiously awaiting this one for local couch coop.

The old arcade X-Men and TMNT are also available on XBLA and great fun to run through without regard for quarters. Ahh my young self would crap his pants watching Continues pop up with the press of a start button instead of running out of change.
Actually, that brings up another good point. Don't neglect those old arcade games; throwing MAME on your HTPC and doing co-op sessions of Turtles in Time, X-Men, Final Fight, Sunset Riders, etc. is always a good time.
EDIT: You know, I misread your initial post. I didn't realize you were looking for 360 games. My bad.
Confirmed for next month? I've been waiting for Terraria to hit XBLA for a while, and this would be awesome!
It has bunnies in it!
Though, I must confess, I will straight up slaughter a vidya game bunny in an instant...
Even after baby bunny and carrot chips?
It's a PC game but has the ability to plug in 2 or 3 controllers and play 3 man co-op on the same screen. It also has a mode where one player is the dungeon master and tries to murder the 3 playing co-op but that requires that the DM be on a seperate machine.
I know, right? Hypocritical little rabbit murderer.
Just like I would never hit an old lady with my car, and then do burnouts and donuts on her corpse before speeding away.
Is no thread safe from this!?
Aha!
The perfect moment to update:
So I've been discounting Steam's Big Picture mode on account of not actually having anything HDMI-capable except a crappy laptop. However, if there are any games that would run super well on a crappy laptop, that could be a fun thing for the living room as well! The MAME idea seems right in line with that. Old SNES/Genesis games would work fine.
I'm actually kind of excited to get a SteamBox or whatever.
Also, does anyone know if it's possible to get like... battery-holder packs? Due to acquiring hand-me-down controllers with Play-and-Charge I've got a couple dead rechargable battery packs and I'd kind of like to just replace those with rechargable AAs, they seem to last a bit longer.
ALSO also, anyone played/recommending Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed? It seems almost precisely that one Banjo-Kazooie Mario Kart ripoff on the N64 and I feel like that might have a lot of appeal.
That game is good. There's some bullshit challenges in single player, but just messing around co op racing should be nothing but fun. I recommend it if you like arcadey kart racers.
It's good, but if you go in expecting a Mario Kart clone, you may be surprised. It's a lot closer to Sega arcade racers, and it can be pretty unforgiving at times.
Try the demo if you can, it's a decent example.
Note that the game is really best enjoyed in couch co-op. Online's pretty terrible due to the camera.
Thanks to Square's horrible marketing we got this to really bring someone in couch co-op mood

I know many people aren't big on DSIII, but I'd really like a sequel. The combat system itself was imo tons of fun.
Well, since we're now talking about PC games, Jamestown is definitely a good one, and not very technically demanding. Castle Crashers is good too, but if your laptop isn't up to snuff for it, it might be better to pick that up for 360.
As for the battery covers, yes, there are replacements available. But personally, I'd sooner just get a replacement battery pack. Using the play-and-charge kits is awfully convenient compared to swapping batteries around, and there's not going to be a difference in life as long as the batteries are fresh (heck, the play-and-charge batteries are basically a pair of rechargeable AAs and a small charger in a case).
EDIT - Apparently, I screwed up the links. Linked to the proper rechargeable battery pack.
Still recommend Dungeonland.
If you have 3/4 people it's great fun to bash around with for it's price.
