The Guiding Principles and New Rules
document is now in effect.
25 year old competitor dies at the X-Games.
The extreme sports event claimed its first life, as Caleb Moore, competing in the controversial Snowmobiling event, had a crash that caused brain damage that would eventually become fatal.
Full story here.
Now, I stopped watching the X-Games a long time ago, but this is still heart wrenching, for a number of reasons. Thoughts to his family, and hopefully ESPN will reconsider of their safety measures.

It's sad and unfortunate that this young man died but really who the fuck is surprised that a "sport" which involves jumping hundreds of feet and flipping a 600 lbs. snowmobile over your head led to a fatality? I've never watched freestyle snowmobile events ever and always cringed at the thought of it.
It's positively insane event and it's existence let alone televising it is god damned stupid.
Lets ask sony bono and that one kennedy and natasha richardson you dumb fucks.

this is pretty needlessly morbid
How about "Gravity claims yet another victim at the X-Games"?

those things are hells of dangerous, I have seen way too many young men crippled by them
Theory of Gravity gathers more momentum as it claims yet another victim at the X-Games?
that too!
Dangers of falling large distances coupled with a heavy object landing on top of you may lead to health risks says local physicist Dr. Sheldon Cooper.

I wouldn't say so. It was a only a matter of time before something like this happened at the X-Games especially after somebody thought freestyle vertical snowmobiling was a good idea a few years ago.
I enjoy the x-games about as much as you can... it's kind of poorly produced, some of the events are cheesy
and among the cheesiest in my opinion are the snowmobile events. it wouldn't kill me if they dropped it... basically any mistake is a 50/50 chance you're going to get smashed by heavy equipment
we also talk about other random shit and clown upon each other
Ouch.
that's probably a good sign that it should have never been an event to start with

I guess you can say that kid and the snowmobile had a falling out...and on.

how he didn't die is beyond me
Now imagine him doing that and then a dune buggy falling on top of him.
...i can't believe he did a 720
Also
you know
for people who live in areas where it snows and don't get their roads plowed every day.
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
Like I said, yokels.
The only non yokel I've ever seen using an ATV or Snowmobile as a form of basic transportation is DMX.
I fully support the urban ATV wheelie movement.

That said motorsports in general are far more dangerous than regular sports because you're involving a machine literally built to get you into situations your body can't handle.

The guy who broke his hip (the article calls it a "separated pelvis") was this dude's brother.
