The 360 version is hilariously bad. Player models can just vanish from screen along with swathes of textures, it's like getting into a shoot out with Claude Rains.
I am hanging on to my PSU, Ram and cooler. CPU and mobo. A 2600k is more than enough for BF3. Already have a 1kw PSU so I am keeping that too. Going to keep my 1tb Caviar black as a slave to the SSD for documents and downloads. I am going to replace the squeaky fans on my H80 with nice new ones. Needed a datavac to clean this mother before installation.
just a warning on those Corsair Vengeance. The heatsinks are held on with adhesive strips. If you press down on them too firmly when fitting them into the RAM slots, they'll just fall apart like crepe paper. As I've just discovered when stripping down my PC to do some cable tidying and putting it back together
Yeah, I am pretty careful with the 2 sticks I already have. I have assembled more computers in the last few years than I can keep track of (well over 100) so I have developed the perfect touch when it comes to seating components. Thanks for the heads up, though.

I wonder if the Paracel and Zevod demos included the lock-on RPG feature.

I'm holding out that it is just to test the mechanic for the Stingers/Javelin. Someone mentioned they are adding a noise to the lock-on/fire bit so this adds to my theory. In my mind.
the video stated the others were really quick lock on and it looked like faster travel time. They had reduced damage, but no one knows by how much. So it's an issue of ease-of-use versus overall damage (with all weapons getting a damage bonus with laser lock on assistance). Now, we pretty much know how that's going to work out: the rpgs are going to win out because most of us are already fairly good timing unguided rpgs with their arc and can better-use that increased damage.
I agree rpgs don't really need the laser lock on bit, and hope they realize how easily it will be to destroy vehicles en masse.
I'm pretty sure I remember the video from levelcap specifically saying that the rpgs would have lock on ability if the target is lit up by laser.
So what is the point of putting any other shoulder-mount in the game?
DICE's way of forcing Recons to be useful in some way.

I took out 3 choppers in a row last night without laser guidance. The only time I ever used the IGLA in BF3 was when I had a particularly nasty pilot and airspace needed to be shutdown for a bit. Since BF4 is going to be sniper-city thanks to "play it your way" there will be no reason to use anything other than the RPG. There will be a christ-ton of recons no matter what and they will be LASing shit. It seems like a bone-head decision to me but whatevs I'll just rack up more RPG kills.

I've had players pop up after I've dropped down onto and engaged a massive group, playing as PC.

ok tell me if I am alone in this.....
I know that I don't get as many kills as I used to because most of that was from learning the maps and the new ones throw me for a loop.
I know that my initial weapon sucks and I hae no idea in the beginning of where to expect the enemy to come from. in BF3 I learned those bits and that kind of made me less terrible.
my issue now is that it appears like I have 1/2 of my BF3 hitpoints. I suppose this is just my initial shock and being a bit overwhelmed, right?
the initial weapons, from what I've used, really aren't that bad. You do have to be very mindful of bullet spread since the engagement ranges can be fairly long depending on where you're fighting. The weapons themselves almost seem to have been bumped up in lethality a bit, but accurate/burst fire is the key unless the enemy is in your face (no AEK, M16A3, etc. in this demo). Overall, I believe the balance between the weapons has been pretty well done so far. We'll see how things go at release.
And once again, everyone's on the Fragnet server, complaining about rubber banding.

This game loads slower than Runescape did when I had a 28.8k modem.
Got Battlelog set up with my laptop next to the monitor, though! Looking forward to seeing that big ass map.
Edit: Game froze, but isn't showing up as unresponsive in the task manager, but Battlelog says it can't communicate with it!

yeah I have to say the performance with a ping of (supposedly 16) is not good. and stuff you want to vault over is sometimes stuff you can vault over. more often than not is isn not stuff you can vault over.
it might just be me disliking the map and learning the game all over again but so far BF3 was more fun. I dunno.

Recon is actually my favorite class.
Carbine, C4, pokeballs. Rapefest420.
BF4 Recon with a Carbine and C4 brings back fond memories of the Spec Ops from BF2. That was a fun class to play. Also fun - Support with PKM. Such a sweet gun.

Oh shit spec ops was my jam in BF2. I guess I should give recon a shot. I haven't really messed with recon since BF2142 (damn I miss that one).
They need more servers for Xbox. So far the queue for domination games can be anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes.
The control seems to be smoother than BF3, unless my memory is fuzzy. I am glad I pre-order it.
Excuse me while I put on my try-hard hat for these practice rounds so I can suck less when retail version come out.

When I'm 237 years old and on my death bed the last thing that will wheeze out of my desiccated lips is "Fuck Punkbuster".
Edit: Welp I have done basically every single possible thing that is physically possible to get PunkBuster updated and it won't go. Something must be really fucked on their end.

I yearn for the days when I would be kicked out of servers over and over again because of Punkbuster and downloading the pbsetup executable on their hokey website yielded an actual updated Punkbuster installation.

My biggest problems right now are the Framerate hits when the tower goes down, and the random stuttering.
Other than that, having a good time! The game looks beautiful to me, but that may be because the majority of games I am playing right now are mostly UE3

I tried some yesterday mostly playing engineer (you have the beginning smg with laser sight) and usually I just hipfired towards anyone. I even killed a prone guy while strafing and full-auto hipfiring like 20-30 meters away. You can ADS at the same time as firing even, so as far as I've understood regard it as CoD with the shooting. Shoot quickly and use a lot of bullets. It's very, very far from Bad company 2 shooting.
This might of course be a bit different with guns that have more recoil, but I have a nagging feeling that smgs and ARs will quickly become the standard, as they are in CoD and for good reason. Lots of accurate bullets is powerful, especially now that ARs can snipe you from quite far away.

NO ONE EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION! Oh bugger.
Maybe I'll play Recon then. That target painter does very useful for the team.

And they stole the C4.
Support will get it at launch as well I believe.

The fact that expecting people to be team players in the recon role is laughable at best on most servers.

Got something very similar for my 760. I assume the drivers aren't quite ready for prime time yet.
