I'm about 85% certain it's fake. Showing the same exploding car game clip over and over is silly, plus the thing that GAF post mentioned.
I do like that console design, but if this is like the Wii where the blue line glows even when the system is off, that shit would keep me up all night.
It just looks too slickly produced to be fake if you ask me. Also that design is just devisive enough to be real. I could do without all the fucking LEDs though.
The GAF post is good detective work but who actually knew the order of the shapes before reading that? I had no clue.
Might be just some playstation/sony fans hyping everyone up, then again, perhaps too professional for that crowd. On the other hand, remember the Majoras Mask remake for the Wii U someone made?
I feel like a Sony fan would have showed us many more shots of the PS4 itself instead of actors with glowing symbols in their eyes.
It felt very much like a 'real' thing a marketing department would have done rather than something a fan would have done, just because the focus is different. A fan who wanted to put a lot of effort into a fake PS4 ad would probably put in more focus on the PS4 itself.
This reminded me of those (terrible) guild wars 2 ads that showed live actors running through gritty streets, turning to stone, vaulting fences, swimming in the ocean, etc, and at the last second showed about 1/2 second of guild wars 2 footage.
I thought that game looked fine, personally, but I realize the art style may be subjective. Even if the PS4 does look like that I don't know that I'll be terribly upset. Good graphics are nice but for me they won't make up for bad game lineup.
I just did a search and all sources I can see state that NO platforms have been announced by SONY for this game. So, where are you guys getting Vita from?

Aside from the art/graphics style which is distinctly PSP/Vita stylized, more and more info is coming out hinting at a new Vita "hunting" game.
Phantasy Star Online 2, Soul Sacrifice, Toukiden, Ragnarok Odyssey Ace, and God Eater 2. Those are this year’s PS Vita hunting games, according to a new Japanese TV spot for the handheld.
But there’s one more.
Below the list of games, shown above, is “〇〇〇〇〇〇〇〇〇.”
Those circles are called marumaru, a commonly used placeholder symbol in Japanese. It means something is supposed to be there, but they’re not quite at the point of telling you what it is yet.
Perhaps it’s the today-teased Panopticon, whose platform and genre have yet to be announced? If so, we’ll find out on May 21.

Actually, I think I got that confused with another game that revealed the platform in the source code. I don't think this is the same game Donnicton is referring to (the name doesn't fit) but I'd still bet on the Vita given the graphics, that it looks to have some kind of co-op element and the fact that it's a game for a Japanese audience. Putting it on the PS4 would be a pretty dumb decision given how irrelevant consoles are there nowadays.
I doubt it. They'd be pretty out of touch to try and do so and I doubt they'll make that mistake given how smart they've been so far. Remote play may be an effort towards that but there's always going to be latency issues with that.
Their best bet is to pitch cross-platform PS4/Vita games to Japanese developers, so that they can hit the western audience on console and the Japanese audience on handheld.

Those were horrible. So horrible that I felt kind of like a fool for playing the game. I ended up getting bored by level 30 and haven't picked it up since.

I wasn't aware any modern day game platform had a certain graphical style that applied to all its games. I don't mean this snarkily, I'm genuinely surprised that you could tell which platform a game is on just by looking at screenshots of the game (barring the Wii, I guess).
Of course, I don't have a Vita, and have heard it has a pretty limited stable of games, so maybe they do all look alike.

I don't think he was talking about the graphical style so much as how it looks like it was made for a handheld screen, not an HD one.
SOE still exists as a weird side-division that's run separately from the rest of SCE but they are under the SCE umbrella.
As for their games appearing on the PS4, I'd consider it a certainty. They've already hinted that Planetside 2 will be ported over (I expect it to be at E3) and given all the changes Sony have made (simple architecture and development environment, opened PSN up for F2P games, etc.), it should be a hell of a lot easier to do so than it was with the PS3.

I like the vibe they are going for here. but that's way too CG to be real, right?
I wonder if that bisecting glowy line changes colour depending on various factors, like if your friends have messaged you?

And maybe some dry ice and a "pssssh" sound for the deluxe model.

We'll see in a few weeks I guess.

I wouldn't say that. A couple of the best fakes we've seen have actually been university or portfolio work, so there was a point to all that effort.
I'm putting stock in the "ad agency mockup" more than "Sony fan in moms basement"

That definitely looks like a Vita graphics style.
If that's PS4, I'm severely underwhelmed.

My god, they are making a video game about Jack Lew's signature

I write about video games and stuff. It is fun. Sometimes.
DC Universe Online and Free Realms are on the PS3. I wonder if there is a chance to see Planetside and the next iteration of Everquest in the PS4.

I did think it was pretty cool how the Sony logo suddenly sprung to life and zoomed in on you.

100% official that it's a Vita game now:
The trailer is up on the JPSN.
