Some noob questions about the boards

Can I even post forum help questions here? Anyway, if you post and get an immediate notification saying to "wait for approval," is that some kind of "precaution" for everyone who posts in that thread, or did I do something I'm not supposed to be doing?

Are the mods friendly?
I don't want to have to test the waters around here, so I'm asking ahead, and following a basic creed like I do with other forums: keep on topic, avoid raging too hard, don't be a dick, and keep the trolling to a minimum.
That being said, can those be a fair, condensed set of rules to follow, to get by without getting myself in trouble? These might seem like weird questions but I ask because forums differ from site to site and it's an easier way to...... ease into the community.

That fancy 5 year badge is nothing because I don't know shit about this forum yet.

It sucks, and you're all stupid for liking it.

There's really no easing in going on around here.

You just post stuff in a thread of your interest while following the rules that you've stated.

I guess I just feel like I stand out like a sore thumb. Like, everyone stops and goes "who is that guy?"

So what is the "wait for approval" thing about?

There are like 900 people online right now, early in a Sunday afternoon before the Super Bowl. There a a lot of people here.

Follow the specific rules listed out, try and be reasonable about stuff and you'll be fine. The mods are pretty much all great and the only important bit with them is believe them when they tell you stop doing something.

If you are new to the forums then you should first go and read the rules.

For example, this is basically a fancy but thinly-veiled "hi I'm new" post, and and those are against the rules of the forum. Those things you mentioned are not the first things to keep in mind when you join a new forum. The first thing to do when you join a new forum is to read its rules because THEY ARE the fair, condensed set of rules you need to follow. They will usually tell you everything conduct-related that you need to know.

And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn
