Wow I am kind of shocked at how quickly and successfully our old people territory managers figured out the instructions I sent them for removing some apps from their phones and registering with the new MDM platform I'm using to push apps and updates to them. Two of four already have it installed.

I should start looking for other jobs or coming up with some sort of school plan or something
This fancy delivery boy thing is nice but I have been doing it for way longer than I thought I would
You're a courier?
Basically, except instead of couriering for whoever needs something to go from point A to point B, I only do deliveries and pick ups for the firm I work for which does litigation support/reprographic work
My job title is technically Customer Service Representative because I am the one that paralegals see when we pick up and deliver things, so sometimes I answer simple questions or take special instructions but the customer service aspect is mostly smiling and nodding and the meat of the job is driving boxes around
The work is simple and generally easy to do, and the pay is good for what the job is, but it is very much a job and not what I would consider a viable (or desirable) career. However advancement within the company is pretty much all to the sales side of things, which doesn't really interest me.
I am at a comfortable plateau in my life: I no longer live with my parents, I am putting roughly half of every paycheck into savings (most of which stays there since I do my best not to spend beyond my credit limit), I pay off my credit card each month to try and build up my credit score
So I'm 23 and achieved personal independence in the majority of my life but I need to come up with a plan to end up with a better job because eventually I'll have to get off my parents health insurance and I already want to stop living in a house with 5 other people
If somebody wants to pay me 40-50k to lift some boxes that would be cool
a nice woman who i volunteer with asked me what i was looking to do, and when i told her, she handed me her card
she apparently is in charge of the Portland district?
she said they're not much into hiring these days (which i already knew) but that each resume she gets goes through a half-hour "informational interview" (which i presume to be background checks and stuff)
in any case, it gets me in the system, and I apparently have someone fairly high up vouching for me, so what's to lose?
Today I was reminded of how conservative the corporate workforce tends to be. I got to work a little after the other guys I'm working with today (had to take my little brother to school) and when I get into the meeting room they're all talking about how the "liberal media" is the only thing fighting against guns and then compared all of their guns.
We had a break halfway through the morning, and what are the talking about when we get back? Gun accessories!

Try having a meeting that starts an hour before you usually get to work, which you need to get in an hour earlier than that to prep for, on the Monday after daylight savings time.
It's noon and I'm checked out for the day already.
I think it's somewhere in the Constitution to keep it in there to give IT people headaches.
Oh ho! You programmer types look like you've finally gotten date\time standardized pretty well.
Lets just throw a little monkeywrench in there shall we?
I didn't send you the high res image you were asking for because the item is currently out of stock for awhile. Driving people to the site for that would be silly. Telling me that "The <REDACTED> can be find in another web site... but can you please send me the high rez visual anyway?" is even sillier.
I'm not sending you our high res photography so you can give sales to another site. No.
Sorry, Pierre.
"zip, i dunno what it is about you, but there's something very cat-like about your face. i can't really place it. you'd make a good mountain lion." Hail, Satan!Satans Post
Looks like a sales person sold our product with promises that we can't keep and now they're probably going to be quite upset!
Those were always fun. Arguing with a salesperson that the product doesn't actually do that, can't in its current iteration do that, and won't be able to do that without significant investment never seemed to stick.
Once I had one of the directors come over and start agreeing that they were a very important client and we'd hate to look stupid in front of them, and only backed off when I showed them the amount of hours it would take to actually implement the functionality that had been magicked out of this salesperson's arse.
The one about the fucking space hairdresser and the cowboy. He's got a tinfoil pal and a pedal bin
Well, on the plus side our product isn't the problem, but our sales person oversold our hosting services. Basically, the client company's authentication does not, and won't match up with ours, so our option is to either float the content out in the open web or give it to the client to place on their internal network, which will then not allow part of our product to work, because it interacts with IIS logs.
And the customer agreement is already signed, and has been for a few months, so I anticipate we're in for some anger somewhere.
Our main finding is that – contrary to the policy’s intent – DST increases residential electricity demand. Estimates of the overall increase are approximately 1%, but we find that the effect is not constant throughout the DST period. DST causes the greatest increase in electricity consumption in the late summer and early fall, when estimates range between 2% and 4%.

Most of the conservatives I know around here (Boston) tend to complain more about taxes or Deval Patrick's nanny-state.
why on earth do we still do this stupid crap again
everyone says it's a farming thing but the more reasonable explanation I've heard is that it actually has a net benefit for saving electricity
