Tattoo Parlors near the convention center?

natedoggcatanatedoggcata Registered User regular
Anyone know of or recommend any tattoo parlors near the convention center. I thought it would be cool to try to get a tattoo in the area almost as a way to commemorate the visit

Heh, I thought I remembered someone *just* having asked that. It's not *really* faq material, so might as well leave this thread if people have suggestions.

as mentioned before, not really near the bcec, but my general boston area recommendation would be fat ram's pumpkin tattoo. i got my first tattoo there. they have great artists who love to do custom work and a generally nice vibe.

Redemption has a good reputation, and in Cambridge. Go with quality work rather than proximity to your location.

Source: I am a guy with a lot of tattoos, however none from this or any other Boston area shops. Also get in touch with whatever shops now rather than doing a walk in for best results.

Oh in that case, butterflies on the small of the back. =)

Also: I take it you're not from these parts.

@Triipledot if you are in NYC, why not get the work done here? Some of the best artists in the world work out of the city.

My wife and I both had work done at Painted Bird in Medford when we first lived here and were very satisfied. Mine's got a circle and has a lot of black fill, and hers is multicolored linework, and we were both happy. The previous recommendations of Redemption and Fat Ram's Pumpkin are also excellent from what I hear.

Orange line from the city will get you almost right to Painted Bird's door.

It's funny that you posted this, because a friend and I had the same idea. I started poking around on Google Maps and really liked a few of the portfolios I saw at Fat Ram's Pumpkin, which I've seen mentioned here a couple times. I'm still looking around, because I'd rather go farther from the hotel and get good art than rush it, but so far that's where I'm leaning.

I second Sassfactor. I had my tattoo done at Redemption two or three years ago. It looks great and I haven't even needed to go back in for a touch up. But definitely communicate with them ahead of time. I had a reference image so I was ahead of the game on the communications end but they prefer to do their initial guidelines with scanned images rather than freehand.

Just messaged Ram's, artist id like to get work done by takes walk-ins on Saturday, this has just become almost too tempting not to do. Anyone down to go? Ill be driving.
