But the Industry and Steam threads have pretty constant "this ain't a chat" reminders. But there is no chat. So whatup.
There used to be a chat thread in there, long ago.
It degenerated into people posting images as replies, gifs, anime junk and drama and was basically a cesspit so it was wiped off the map.
Good thing we don't have any of those things.
It's not as bad here as it was there, Jesus it was so bad there. Pages were just chock full of bullshit. The G&T chat thread also treehoused even harder than this one. There are definitely times I wouldn't be surprised if this chat thread got shut down but it's not as bad as the G&T one yet.
I couldn't keep up with that chat thread. I don't know if it was simply too big (it seemed like it moved hella fast, even compared to our best days) or if it was just so fucking inaccessible due to all that shit you mentioned.
It sounds like it was hella bad.
It went really fast, yeah. Like you could write a post and the thread would move half a page, maybe a page. I liked it a lot because that was where I first started posting and I was a kid and it was a community but yeah eventually I understood why it was shut down.

Surprising no one, the free Obamaphone program has been poorly managed with very little oversight. Looking at that little chart accompanying the article, Virgin Mobile and AT&T drank deeply from the government teat.
The U.S. government spent about $2.2 billion last year to provide phones to low-income Americans, but a Wall Street Journal review of the program shows that a large number of those who received the phones haven't proved they are eligible to receive them ... A review of five top recipients of Lifeline support conducted by the FCC for the Journal showed that 41% of their more than six million subscribers either couldn't demonstrate their eligibility or didn't respond to requests for certification ... The FCC until last year allowed consumers to self-certify, without requiring documentation, that they met federal poverty guidelines. Subscribers didn't have to recertify once they were enrolled in the program, and there were few checks on whether households signed up for more than one cellphone.
I could see how there is an argument for like, cultural imperialism via co-opting ethnic dress, reinforcing exoticism and otherness
but that is a bit of a stretch and in this particular case a bit of a type I error in seeing leering white monsters where there are none. but the best and most potent forms of imperialism are the ones we dismiss! a hyper-reactionary defense of ethnic separatism would find huge problems with anyone wearing anything outside of their culture, sure
My conclusion is that all white people are monsters

Obama's socialism is so deep that it travels back in time like that anomaly from the last episode of TNG
Also I would honestly be kind of surprised if oversight saved any money, for every person committing any kind of fraud there's 99 that aren't so spending a pile of money to build a new bureaucracy to police it is probably going to be counterproductive

is it immoral/injurious to minority classes for beautiful white people to wear their garb?
i was reading this blog post earlier about how this hot white burlesque performer had a sari but also it was a lil more racy
basically these ladies of color were saying hmm dat is appropriating sexualizing bullshit
do y'all agree y/n
sex is weird and I feel like the shit that gets people off isn't necessarily connected to the shit they otherwise think and believe when their systems aren't being overloaded
like maybe you agree hitting people is bad and hitting your partner isn't okay but when you are making sex,
i'm not actually clear on whether this is part of her performance
like, apparently the lady went to india and really loved it and i think she sort of dresses like that sometimes, in addition to while dancing
meh
just, one of my friends who is usually p smart and not weird linked it saying it was interesting and i didn't really know how i felt about it
Nothing wrong with it though.
I find saris sexy, which my Indian friends found funny since they obviously don't see it the same way I do.

I can finally make a salad I enjoy. I kept buying leaves of various types but I couldn't make it click, even with this dressing I really like
I just wasn't putting enough stuff in. too much leaf made it almost gross to eat all of for me.
noms. one a day for lunch is the plan, upgrade from my general 'eat what's around' plan for lunch. which yeah I've been good lately but it's just asking for trouble.
Obama's socialism is so deep that it travels back in time like that anomaly from the last episode of TNG
It even stretches back farther than that. Obama's socialism is so strong, it reaches back to the 80's, when one Ronald Reagan (aka the Conservative Messiah) started the federal subsidy for people to have a phone (though at the time it was actually a land line).

I'm having trouble mustering outrage.
The FCC has stepped in in their oversight role and corrected some abuses of the program, netting some savings for a legitimately useful program that is keeping the digital divide from further disenfranchising poor americans.
If we want to talk about real fraud and waste, let's talk about military contracting or something. This program is a tiny fraction of a percent of the national budget.
The thing about erotic fiction is that I can't get off if I don't see a scrotum slapping meatily against angry red recently shaved genitals
seriously though WHY DO THEY DO THIS
Because the most devoted porn addicts love the undeniable evidence of sexual penetration occurring I guess? They need to see it vivid and explicit in front of them because it is the last element of vanilla sex that is still transgressive enough to stir the bruise-mottled tube of meat hanging flaccid in their fist.
