The warlocks need a better unique armor piece, like a fancy gauntlet for their left hand or something, because that tiny little armband really pales in comparison to the cloak. I guess you can get pretty sweet coats as higher level chest pieces, but the hunters' cloaks are awesome as hell and super noticeable. the Titan's sash is pretty cool too. I mean, it is not an awesome cloak, but it sure beats a goofy armband.
The high-level armbands have crazy holograms and stuff come out of them. So who knows, we might see ones that project something along your whole arm.
Though I agree that the Iron Banner one is way understated, there are definitely some awesome-looking Warlock armbands. (Sorry for picture size.)
Aghh. So sweet. So from alpha to beta they changed pulsed scout and hand cannons pulse and scout don't shoot as fast which took me forever to figure out. Scouts don't either so my go to weapons are gone for now and I couldn't find the op assault rifles. Oh well, I was clan tagged now I'm not dunno what happened. I really want to not pug multiplayer as I've scene that uber screws me up I'm no lone wolf or I was in alpha had the medal and all. I think though I'm not a hunter and need to switch back to warlock. Shrug. Is it 9/9/14 yet. Oh and doea any one know if the stuff on Saturday is only at two pm or Anytime after as I might be screwed out of beta stuff due to family visiting

So, it looks like the Vanguard Preorder bonus is going to give you access to a full compliment of 60dmg green weapons. So, it'll only really take you to level 8 or so before you'll find something to replace them. Seems like a fair bonus that doesn't screw anyone picking it up later.
How are these actually supposed to work? It's odd, if you look at the first part of that video, the helmet says lvl 5 required, the sniper rifle and rocket launcher say lvl 10 required. One screen shows weapons with 60 attack, the other shows 106. So are there only 1 version of these items, or do they sell different level versions (0, 5, 10, etc)?
Just remember that half the people you meet are below average intelligence.
I also REALLY hope they make it so you don't have to wear your helmet in game. I'd much rather be face out.
helmet when in combat situations
no helmet when in safe zones
makes sense to me
The "Helmet Toggle" option shows up in almost every game that has it. Leave it on if you want. I'd rather see my character's face.
But.. you can't see your character's face in first person?
Ha, yeah I keep forgetting that. It's pretty amazing how you never notice the transition from first to third. It's not even a thing.
But I don't like how the helmets look and I think my robowizard looks neat. I'd rather have people see that then the helmet; same deal as what went on in Borderlands 2. And honestly, I'd rather see other peoples' faces in game as well; it helps me tell them apart much quicker.
I do agree that I'm not a huge fan of the Warlock helmets. I want to give Warlock a chance, but Titan armor is just so awesome. If Warlock coats were all open, that'd be one thing, but having them all buttoned up and looking robe-ish is definitely less awesome.

This is amazing! I'm ranked #6776 overall, on the next-to-last page. However, I'm not dead last! (There are 6803 players ranked on 69 pages.)
I wish there was a quick-start FPS tutorial somewhere. I just learned last night:
1. Tapping L3 makes you run faster for a few seconds. I thought you had to hold the button down to run, and that kind of finger gymnastics were difficult for me so I just never did it. It seems like there isn't any drawback to running all the time, so I'm working on just habitually pressing that stick a tiny bit harder whenever I see my target reticle.
2. Pressing square after you die in PvP lets you respawn faster. I honestly thought you had to wait out the 10 seconds as a "penalty" for dying.
3. My gear sucks! I examined another few players in the game and was shocked to find that most people had much higher armor and attack values than me. I was using green gear that had lower values. One hunter I saw had double my armor value (I'm playing a Titan)!! Switched some stuff around and I can now survive more than a single shot from most folks. On the offensive side, I'm getting better at not missing with the shotgun. A shotgun+punch is an instant kill (if I can land it).
4. You don't get assist credit if you die. This must be a FPS thing. I'm more accustomed to the tank being a DPS sponge and the DPS actually getting the kills and everyone gets credit. When I take a guy down to a sliver of life, and then die an instant before someone else breathes on him and kills him, I only get credit for dying, not for almost killing him - which should, in my mind, count as an "assist". Point being that if I had a TINY bit more survivability, I would start seeing a lot more assist credit. How to get better armor??
My K/D is slowly climbing. But it has a lot of downward weight. I'm up to 0.30 now. I'm consistently no longer the lowest scoring player in most matches, and about 50/50 on not being the lowest K/D.

@Stupid You still get assists if you die. I've gotten quite a few assists for almost killing a guy, dying myself and then someone else finishing them off.
Also, I seem to be #3096 overall which isn't too bad. I guess that lands me somewhere in the middle.
Some guys on reddit glitched the environment at the entrance to the Forgotten Shore, clipped through the world, and through some exploring, they found an area with assets unlike what we've seen in the rest of the beta. Environment spoilers follow (no story spoilers), though obviously, this is all without context:
Traditionally, I've been more hyped for the PvE, MMO elements of the game, but the Crucible sucked me in once I was kind of "done with" the story missions and a few runs of the Strike. Videos like this get me really excited to explore more of the world with you guys.
I don't suppose there's any spare UK 360 download codes doing the rounds, are there? I just realised I wanted to try preordering this to get in, and it seems it's too late. No worries if not, but just thought I'd chance it.
I didnt see anyone respond to this so far, but I should get 2 extra beta codes for brobox360, you can have both of those if you want, since I'm guessing you'll be playing with Beckyface?
I dont even know if I get to play the beta, Xbox live has constantly shit the bed these past 2 weeks for me, it seems nothing is wrong when testing connection, but it is really unstable, jumpy and inconsistent like never before.
So, are hand cannons at all feasible in PvE? I mean, I know for any mooks, it's just 2 body shots or shot/punch to take down, but are you basically just screwed against a Yellow and up? Especially something like the Devil Walker/High Servitor?

I've found them very underwhelming. They're basically scout rifles with slower rate of fire, much smaller clips and much longer reloads. They need to do way more damage to be viable imo.

I get by with handcannons just fine. I basically chain headshots on the heavies. It's pretty important to have the highest level gun available to you, though, because the bodyshot damage seems to drop very quickly. But you can take down a yellow Fallen without reloading if you do it right.
Edit: Though I should mention that the vast majority of encounters with those guys has been with a party, so it's definitely possible that I'm not doing absolutely all the work.

Better hipfire accuracy means they're way better indoors than scout rifles are.
Mostly, I'm just hoping I find a hand cannon with a scope on release.

I don't have any issue with hip firing my scout rifle at close/mid range. And the extra ammo and faster reload means I can afford to miss a shot on occasion. It just doesn't do its job as well as it needs to.

Or the Scout Rifle does more than it should?

I wish I could somehow have a handcannon and a long range weapon and something with a few more rounds in it
Hm.

I waffle between a hand cannon and a scout rifle depending on what I happen to find with the highest stats. The hand cannon feels like it fits my style really well. It just feels more accurate and nimble from the hip, which makes it each to jump around, take pot shots, and finish with face stabs.
But at the same time, it seems super accurate at moderate distances down the sights, so I've had good luck picking guys off with headshots from 50-100m out.
Everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
doesn't the handcannon generally stagger more than the marksman rifle?
I assumed that was one of its pros over the rifle. I absolutely detests both the marksman and handcannon in mp mind may change during the final release and depending on what gear I find.

I'm not asking for story reason why it happens. It makes perfect sense as is. I just don't want to do it.
edit: it's not a deal breaker or anything, just a preference.

I'm glad of the break.
I don't want my stash of level 9 items to get any bigger, just sitting there, taunting me.
I have a new sniper rifle and a cape, dammit !
