Problem: My powerbooks cd drive does not work. I want diablo 2/warcraft 3 on it.

I have a pc with an external harddirve that I can use on my powerbook, is there anyway to get it on my pwoerbook and working?

Also, I cant run classic on my powerbook so that might be an issue as well.

The more you help me, the more reach arounds you get.

Goddamn, wait a bit next time.

First question: Do you own another Mac or know someone that owns a Mac?

I think I see where you are going with this. Install it on their mac and use my external harddrive to move it over? Does diablo 2/warcraft 3 require the disk to play?

You could rip the disc images to a mac compatible format and transfer them over.

I have no experience with Macs, but I'm sure they have virtual drive software of some sort available on the web.

Just run the images off that. I think that should work.

Yes, at least on the PC.

On the mac...I don't recall it needing it but it's been probably 4 or 5 months since I've played.

Can't you just rip the data to another hard drive and transfer to your powerbook?

    EDIT: WTS, i'm retarded.

Diablo 2 requires the disc to play on the Mac.

If you image the disk as a .dmg file using another mac (Disk Utility will do this), then transfer it over, then mount it as a disk; then, as far as the game is concerned, the disk is in the drive, and this is a run-on sentence.

So... do that thing I said. I'm not sure if diablo 2 is OS X compatible via a patch, let me check.

    answer: yes

Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility

Create a dmg of the CD on another Mac and then transfer it over the network. Should work fine.

You guys rule so hard. Hopefully I can try this tonight. Fair warning, this whole disk imaging thing sounds like magic, so I might be back.
