Well it's been nice knowing youse guys. My last running core here at work has to be taken outta commission. With [email protected] running on this thing, the core temperature was reaching 47 degrees and higher. Over the past several months that was enough to wear out the thermal gel between the chip and the heat sync, and that was with a fan on the heat sync to boot. For the past week this PC was getting the blue screen of death every few hours. So now the thermal gel has been renewed and there's a new power supply as well but I won't be reinstalling [email protected] There's no point really, I finish up here in less than two weeks and I'm moving on to a cushy government job.

I will, hopefully, be back and folding when I can get Internet set up at the apartment but I have no idea when that will be. I came so close to my goal of breaking into the top 5! oh well.

    Cheers

MuttonChops, you shall be missed! I hope that you are able to return soon. It has been good to know you as well, oh noble folder.

Sunstrand, congrats! Thanks for your efforts.

And SpikedFreak, since I unfortunately forgot to say this earlier, thank you very much for saving me from quad posting. It's always nice to see that our folding group has plenty of life left in it.

    You are all awesome. :^:

I got my PS3 and my laptop cranking away at home. The desktop is running World Community Grid, simply because that runs on the BONIC client and takes good advantage of dual cores of doom. I'll look into haxing some of the other household PCs onto [email protected]

Thought you guys might appreciate this. It's just for the weekend (sadly) but every little bit helps, right? I'll leave it up as long as I can but this is a highly critical production server, so no long term possibilities :-(

4x 4gb Sticks.... I cracked it open as soon as we received it just to look at those sticks. The best part is that there are still 4 slots left... 32gb's is totally possible.

Yeah, we're the cancer eating away at cancer. Once cancer sets up some folding boxes in a desperate attempt to cure us, the circle will be complete.

When this happens, I'll have one core running to fight cancer, and one core running to fight humans. Then I'll start playing the battle theme from when Kirk and Spock fought.

I'm back to folding, at casual capacity. No more hardcore 24/7 with 4 clients. At times I may have up to 3, but more often it'll just be 1 or 2 for a few hours out of the day.

My PS3 + 2x Desktop cores are taking a vacation. The Intercooler for my PS3 went, and my PC is occupied with multiple games. I'll see about getting a new intercooler soon, if for nothing else toher then the fact that it moves the main power switch to the front of the console.

My PS3 and PC are still chugging along...though with all of the cool stuff coming out in the next few weeks, I may have to slow things down a bit. We shall see. Ratchet and Clank is going to be calling to me!

Once again, thanks everyone for all of your efforts. One of these days, very soon, we shall reach the moon! We're just on a ...holiday break. :)

    I am still folding.

Considering when I got in, I feel that hitting the top 50 in the short timespan that it has been is pretty impressive :).

Then again, if I was actually PLAYING my ps3, it probably wouldn't be this awesome. ;-)

Hmm, GameFAQs is set to overtake us in 1.6 weeks? I'll see what I can do. You guys have had your way with #1 and #2 producers for too long, anyway. ;-)

Edit: okay, I added four more cores, but they're not super-fast. It may not be enough. Everybody search for more cores to add! We cannot let GameFAQs overtake us.

I'm assuming this program consumes all available CPU resources to accomplish its goal? Cause I've got a Home server here with a Pentium D 930 that's typically just sitting there consuming power here at home.... This might be something useful....

I think I signed up properly... I've told this to run as a service on my server... I think once I get the intel bundle this year I'll do something similar on my Media Center PC, since it'll also be dual core at that point and capable of backend work easier than right now.... wish I could tell it was obviously working properly...

Yes, but it's very good about giving up the CPU just as soon as anything else wants a go. :)

Here's a question.... When running as a service in the background, does it have a window pop up while running on the following boot?

I only ask because I've got a crap load of computers on display at work with internet access that all they do is sit there... Displaying desktops to customers... All... Day... Long.... Some 13 laptops even....

How long you think it would take their corporate network to block their network traffic?

Um, forever, unless they're actively hunting for stuff. It doesn't use much traffic. It downloads a small chunk of data, then operates on it locally for a day or few, then uploads the result. Then it repeats. It's not constant at all.

I'll be folding again as soon as the Mac Intel beta client starts behaving better. It's fast, it just has a nasty habit of killing my WU randomly.

In other news, I skimmed the top 100 teams, and noticed this:
83rd Place: Penny Arcade, with 707 active CPUs.
