Congrats Gilrain on passing 600,000 points! Also, great job everyone! We're back on the rise as far as Points Per Day. Sadly, GameFAQs may pass us this week. Still, good going!

Well, GameFAQS has passed us, which made me shed a tear. On the upside we are still on a positive overall slope, so perhaps soon they will tire and we will overtake them once more! Long live the Folding Arcadians!

Just one question. (I am sure it has been answered already, but I don't want go through 55 pages. If you have a two CPU system (G5 - PowerPC in my case) - you can open the program two times (if you put each copy in a seperate folder first, of course). Does that mean, that both clients work on the same WU, or do they work seperate WUs? It would be silly if client1 and client2 work on the same WU basically "competing" with each other while wasting CPU cycles. If they work cooperatively, or on different WUs, then this would make sense.

They work on whatever the Folding at Home server sends them, but they should be 2 different work units.
Two clients don't work on a Mac PowerPC. The problem is, that the "output file" is saved in the users folder or at a another location. (not in the program bundle/ or the program folder itself) Both clients access the same file at once and cause a corruption. This means that both clients will start over and over again while achieving the maximum of 1 - 3% before resetting it back to 0.
Is there a way to change this behavior?
edit: Currently I just run one client which does the folding - better than nothing. Unfortunately there is no client which supports multiple CPUs, cores on the PowerPC side (except the PS3 version)
In about 13 hours, we're going to pass Microsoft. Good work everyone!
EDIT: Also, a new PS3 client came out which features a shutdown timer and the ability to play music while you Fold.
The shutdown timer is clutch, and i should start folding again thanks to that.
It's pretty neat, it lets you set an amount of time you'd like the system to shut down after, or to shut the system down at the end of the next work unit.

I've been using it alot. Makes me feel like I'm doing something very tiny to help justify all the money I spend on games.

So yea, I haven't been able to contribute for quite some time, for reasons too numerous to count. As soon as Comcast decides to stop being a bunch of cock shiners, I'll have my servers churning away.
I got a friend of mine to join with her new PS3 that she got for Christmas, so that's one more for the team. We've been putting up some decent numbers lately, great work everyone!
I agree Cornell, the shutdown timer is a pretty neat thing.

Had my PS3 for a few weeks now but I just got it online and updated [email protected]
I entered the team number and put the donor name as my forum name. Is that it? It just shows the team number in the upper right...I don't see Folding Arcadians anywhere. Maybe I'm not supposed to.
Also, unless I'm retarded (a clear possibility) the Extreme Overclocking stats tracking page only shows the top 20 people on our team. Am I missing something here?
Otherwise uhm...we're gonna cure cancer! Yay folding!
edit: N/m..I found the stats page. Looks like I'm in.
I'm probably going to throw this on my HTPC too now.... With a quad core on the inside it'll have enough spare resources that I wont need to worry about it... while its also running on my server..... Which is dual core... So I could technically have 6 cores folding away...
I've just gone through a reinstall of Vista since my main machine was having some major issues, and so my point count has been quite low lately. However, I'm almost back up and running and soon I shall be posting many WU's again! Hopefully!
MuttonChops, yes, I was having some issues. It seems that one of the main servers at [email protected] was down, according to a post I found on their site. It's supposed to be all fixed now.

We've had a bit of a...mild decline in our Folding numbers of late, so I wanted to come and post in the thread and say we've got to keep up the great work we've been doing!
I'm really pushing to try to get back to my old levels of work, and Gilrain is inching ever closer to being the first person on our team with a million points! Also, we're still getting some new active users every now and then which is fantastic. A friend I politely talked into joining, quantumparadigm, is working her way up the charts, and Steeef and I have recently been engaged in a most epic battle.
We're now at 319 members and only 54 are active, so I know we can push just a little bit harder. Great work everyone on the whole. The folding must go on!!!

The PS3 client has been shagged up for the past few days. It's locking up on a black screen and I have to power cycle the PS3 to get out of it. Anyone else experiencing this?

I haven't had any issues like that, sorry I can't be of more help. Did the problems cease? Are you running version 1.31 and the most current PS3 firmware? That's all I can think of...Hopefully you were able to sort it out!

Thank you very much for joining the team Epitoma, we appreciate the help!!!
Also a very special CONGRATS to gilrain, for being the first member of our team to cross the 1 million point threshold.
Awesome awesome work gilrain!!! You should make Threepio give you a prize, for old times sake.
That's not a bad idea. I'm not sure if the other two lads got theirs... I got a bill from shipping but I didn't ever receive confirmation of receipt :-|
Yay, thanks, thanks -- I'd like to thank all the servers at my old job, who are still tirelessly running the client, unbeknownst to anyone there.
Haha that's absolutely fantastic. First step, stealth install on servers. Second step, top secret folding room. Third step...the mooooon!!! Our numbers are up lately, we'll make it yet!
Also, Threepio, thanks again for spearheading this group in the beginning. We would never have gotten here without all your efforts!

God, I have a pair of virgin quad- and octo-core Xeon servers at work that I was setting up. And a fresh lab full of Core 2 Duos.
I want to do it, even though I know I shouldn't.
I've bolded the part of this sentence that needs correction.

I've joined up as of this morn, and when I get my PS3 in June it'll be folding when it's not providing me with hours of enjoyment.
Go team?

The problem rectified itself a day or two after that post. I should probably get my core 2 duo folding again, on a casual basis.

Folding on a 256 MB 3850 is producing approximately 1500 ppd worth of moon-fuel, and is a LOT more reliable and efficient than the old GPU client. It no longer uses DirectX, so running a game wont close the client; neither will locking your PC or fast user switching operations.
