Russia goes BOOM! (Meteor, not nuclear)
So, at 9:20 local time Russia (and thanks to Youtube and the omnipresent russian dashboard cameras, the rest of the world) experienced a fairly major explosion as a meteor detonated in the skies above Chelyabinsk.
While a few hundred were injured it appears that none were injured seriously. It was mostly concussions and cuts from shattered glass.
The downside of this are the injuries, both to people and to buildings (it appears that the bang shattered glass for miles around the event). The upside is that we have photage of the event.
Video of the actual atmospheric entrance (dashboard camera)
On the ground experience. Turn down the volume as there is quite a bang at 0:12
