A friend of mine I'm going with got a call. So excited to see him up there this year! I thought he was trolling me when he texted saying he got a call.
I'm pleased to say I was called, and told them one of my sons will play; my wife asked about the omegathon, and I can find nothing but the paragraph in the "what is pax" page -- which says 20 contestants; I think somewhere else it said 28 -- are there any details? I know the games are "random" (or at least varied and a surprise), but numbers, schedule, prizes?

In the past there has been a pretty strict "no substitutions" rule. Are you absolutely certain they okayed that, because that would be very abnormal.
Got the call from Gabe! And here I thought my day was already good, since I was somehow able to grab a physical copy of Fire Emblem: Awakening. But this takes the cake! Now where's that Omeganauts e-mail?!?!

Well, I bought 5 badges for my family, so it isn't really a substitution. The person who called me seemed to have no problem with it nor the fact that my son is 15.

A very similar scenario played out last year, where this sort of thing was denied, but I think that the person being called did not suggest their kid playing until later on in the process. It *is* unusual for them to accept anyone but the person's name who is on the registration though, regardless of how many badges you buy. It sounds like you're in the clear, but it would probably be good to make sure when the emails go out and everything.

A bunch of us who got the call are following each other on twitter: search for omegathon
Ack, I got the call yesterday and it still hasn't really sunk in. This is my third time going to PAX, but first time going all three days. Hello fellow Omeganauts!
Got the e-mail about an hour ago! This is the real deal! I can't wait!

I don't get a call from Gabe/Tycho again? Dammit.
As to anyone that wants to know what to expect: Terror. Lots of terror.
Hope you guys like performing in front of giant crowds lol. There will be a list of games that the first three rounds will be, with the final round being a secret, so definitely wait until that list comes out to practice, but expect a wide range of games, not just modern games, but old ones, and ones that aren't even electronic. Even obscure Canadian board games.

If you've been practicing Crokinole, I can tell you that wouldn't be the final round again, anyway! :P
Hahaha, no, but I'm pretty sure there's more than 1 obscure Canadian board game out there outside of Crokinole.
I got my calls while at a Malifaux/Warmachine paint party. Doesn't get any sillier than that!

Sent in responses to the email after spending like 45 min camwhoring with my cell phone camera XD
Alicia said that this one will also be in pairs. I forgot to ask if the pairs will be determined pre-pax or not...
Let's try to stay in touch with each other here, on twitter, maybe set up an IRC channel? And once the games list comes out, let's post it here and practice the hell out of them, so we give the audience a good show

That would be fun! Do you know when the game list will be released? I think maybe at the beginning of March?

Just sent in my info. Yeah, I spent about an hour getting a good pic. Even redid my hair. ><
Yeah, pairs seems a little scary but I can see how it can be fun. If anyone wants, they can hit me up @GamingMistress. Oh boy, starting to get the shakes again!
Ack! I haven't even had time to do a photo yet. I actually have a test for school tonight. I have a DSLR though so I should be able to get it done soon
Super nervous. But also totally excited. This past year has been kind of awful for me. So, this has really cheered me up a lot!

I'm beyond excited, but I don't know what to expect.
Any insight?
Get good at every board game and video game ever.
Or just YouTube omegathon videos I guess?

Also if you want to use IRC, I would suggest #pax_omegathon on SlashNET (the main PAX channels are #pax and #pax_<something> on SlashNET)
