Oh, gamer tags might be helpful too if we end up playing together! I'm Zephsace on both PSN and XBL, though my XBL is a bit inactive due to the lack of live.

After playing through all the modes, I'm thinking the first round is going to be All-Items Zombie Run 8 Player Bomberman. It's just a guess, it's probably the most pulse-pounding, "always close until the very last seconds" game mode.
Hey guys, I'm also an omeganaut for this upcoming pax. It should be fun although I don't think I stand a chance since I haven't owned a console since 04 let alone played nba jam on fire and bomberman live. I'll have a good time regardless!
I received the call a while ago of course, but I never thought to check the forums for a thread like this... heh, silly me! I do not have Twitter or Facebook but I am on steam as TurtleFlower and I have a tumblr as well... I would certainly be happy to join in Omeganaut playdates in the future. I am truly excited to meet everyone, and my inevitable partner. I am lucky enough that we own NBA Jam in this house, so I'll try to fuss with that... and play the old retrobomber out of lack of Bomberman Live.
I literally stammered when I got the call, Jerry Holkins... oh... my literary diva, swoooooon...
I just picked up Bomberman Live, but I am a little embarrassed to say I have never played Bomberman in my life....derrrrrp....so I will have to cram in a lot of practice these next two weeks. I also borrowed NBA Jam from a co-worker....I will most likely suck but I will give it my best! Cue the sports training montage..... :P
I noticed from the news post that a lot of Omeganauts share last names. Is there a family theme this year?
I saw that too. Three sets of two, and a set of three. That... almost unnerves me, simply because, well, one relative could throw the game for their other relative to win. I might be worrying for nothing, but it was something that kind of made me look twice.

Reposting because some ppl don't have facebook:
Bomberman Thoughts: For Normal Mode (which we're probably not playing because the program says that it won't be the normal ruleset), there is no substitute for practice. Getting things like the buttons, proper power up usage, and timing down is essential. For Zombie Mode, it's important to get an early lead, then simply stay away from the major kerfuffles and try to steal other peoples' points. It's something that's tough to practice, since not many people play this game online at all...
NBA Jam thoughts: This game is going to be very very bad for people who don't play ahead of time. The controls are pretty complicated, and playing with people who have had exp with the previous versions, they have a very hard time with the new system. Basically as soon as I know who my partner is, we're going to lock ourselves in a room and practice until we can alley-oop without any difficulty. Once you have that technique down, the game becomes a little more balanced. It's very back and forth, and my style will be to try to get the offense down perfectly (the best offense is a good offense), then even if the opposing team scores, we can bring it back next play. If the opposing team makes a mistake, we'll have to get the ball back quickly and drive it back fast for the extra points. This is probably the best guide I've found : http://www.gamefaqs.com/xbox360/626303-nba-jam-on-fire-edition/faqs/63131 . It has a lot of tips for choosing the best team, but I'm practicing with the existing teams in case we're not allowed to pick nonstandard teams at PAX. Maybe they'll make us play with only mascots?

I have only played the older Bomberman games but I have played them with some frequency... And there really is not likely to be much means for me to practice owing to being too poor to acquire the game in question.

I think there's a demo version of Bomberman Live in the Xbox Love Marketplace...
There is a demo of bomberman on xblm where you can play the basic game. The only real difference I'd say between this bomberman and any other is that each powerup sort of gets its own button which can be a little confusing

Heh, see previous caveat regarding being too poor to buy the game in reference to affording an Xbox. Unless you do not need a console to utilize the marketplace..! Consequently if there is also an Xbox 'Love' Marketplace I can see from where the popularity of the device stems.

This at least I can practice on, and with that recommendation I think I will redouble my efforts.
Thank you for the low down on all of that!

Ha ha, just happens to be luck! I seriously saw that and went, "Aw crap..."
