Backup mapped network drive

Hey I was wondering if anyone knew of a backup service for Windows that can backup from and to a mapped network drive? From what I've read windows has some sort of is restriction to prevent this. I did find a work around from crash plan but it didn't work for me, I'm guessing that the work around might have been blocked by Microsoft in 7/8.

So yeah if anyone knows of a service or work around it would really help me out.

Windows 7 can do it I know for sure.

This is honestly trickier then it should be, and I've been most happy with cygwin and an rsync script so far, in terms of simple restores - I really don't recommend Windows Backup, because restores are slow as hell and the file format is accessible but ridiculous (splits files at ~200mb across zip files - try recovering manually because it's a nightmare).
