Man how did I miss a Transformer thread. Fucking love Transformers. Best show ever.
I am really excited for the movie, I do not care how crappy it is. It could be animated shit sitting around discussing theater with the word Transformers thrown in there and I'd be there at the midnight showing of it.

"Hidden" and "Destiny." You can watch a streaming low-res or high-res version under where it says "Watch It Now." They both have different footage, btw.

So I watched the original animated Transformers Movie yesterday
Ok, what the fuck
The movie never slows down, there's just constant shit happening, and music is playing loudly and nonstop the whole time. It's like an AMV. And Wierd Al - Dare To Be Stupid is one of the songs in it? So bizarre.
So why was the movie so weird

I don't understand why they didn't fucking pick Welker for Megatron.
Poor guy must feel pretty insulted.
Apparently, judging from past interviews he's happy enough to even have had to honor of be considered for the same role as someone like Weaving.
Keep in mind many voice actors don't seem to consider their associations to characters nearly as importantly as fans of said characters do. To them it's just a job (and in this case an *old* job, at that), not the childhood-defining icon it is for some of you.
That manga, involving little girls and the transformers? That's pretty fucking close to child porn, at least from the screen I saw. The penis-tongue? Definitely gave me some pedophile vibes.
While I personally don't like that Kiss Play thing (apart from the rodimus toy, which seems pretty cool), I do feel the need to point out those "little girls" apparently aren't supposed to be children, though the way they're drawn certainly says something about the artist's weird tastes.
In unrelated tidbits, that girl with glasses gets to be Starscream for a while, if the whole thing wasn't strange enough yet.

Okay those trailers made me think of the script that was leaked a while ago
I see all the dickwad talk back people who claim they have read a finished script. Impossible - I kept the only draft for the last two months before shooting. That's where did major retooling to the script - yes the scene beats are similar but a very different script.
So yeah, hopefully the suckage will be reduced, plus there are so many references (Yellow beetle next to Bumblebee in the lot! Starscream transforming at what appears to be the Hoover Dam, site of one of the most iconic battles in TF history, if only because it was the first really big one with Megs and Op fighting with energy weapons! Woo!).
Oh, and Starscreams transformation? Yeah, pretty cool, but I was more impressed with Ironhide's slow-mo John Woo-esque flip-whilst-shooting-a-rocket. THAT is the kind of thing I go to Michael Bay movies for.
You won't go see this for the script anyway, you'll go see this because you wanna see giant robots BEATING THE SHIT OUT OF EACH OTHER on the big screen.
i think it's TFS's dream to be able to turn into a girl that can turn into Starscream
Well, she doesn't litterally turn into Starscream, she's possessed by his ghost, which means going around in a somewhat oversized black uniform with decepticon insigna, smiling a weird cute evil smile and saying things about the ashes of one's enemies using speech bubbles with little hearts in them. Starscream eventually gets Dr.Arkeville to build a new transformer body for the ghost to inhabit which, it turns out, is the one depicted by MP-03.
shit guys, check out what I just found buried in my closet!
I don't remember how I even came to own this, considering I never had Soundwave

Impressive.
And I'm optimistic about the new movie, because I haven't seen any reason not to be. Hearing it was almost an R is a huge positive in my book. Darker = better.
Pretty absurd that 'intensity' can get a film an R, though.

Like I said earlier, that was a misunderstanding. Shia Labouf got it wrong, it was the OTHER film Speilberg was working on at the moment (Disturbia) that would have gotten an R rating had Spielberg not thrown his weight around.

Is that the movie that looks like a remake of Rear Window, only with teens?
I gave away most of my transformers a while ago, but I think I still have Blaster and the lion tape transformer. Blaster's joints are all loose from being transformed so many many times.

I'm not terribly fond of the character designs in robot mode. They're too...too, what's the word I'm looking for here...too complicated? Does that make sense? The bots have about a basillion little tiny pieces about the size of a thumbnail that move around to make the transformation.

Looks like they went with that script that apperently sucks. Not that this movie being bad would be surprising.
