Ok wow. The last act of Skyfall is just atrocious.

It honestly feels like they just ran out of money or something.
The last act is bringing Bond full circle. With the death of M, who has become a surrogate parent, in his childhood home, it brings him back to his roots. Which is touched on further when he goes into the Bernard Lee office to meet his new M. It brings the series back to the beginning without rebooting or resetting it.

I gotta agree with Abd. I vastly prefer TexMex to Mexican.

Most of the time at least.

    Are you trolling right now?

I suppose technically I know it'll get a rise, but it's just amazingly underwhelming. Like, most boring action sequence setting ever, and the plot momentum has dropped to a literal standstill.

Quantum of Solace wasn't great either, but that was more that the setting was just absurd - this is worse - you can't see a damn thing due to the lighting (not that there's much to see). The music queues are just also all over the place (though the music itself is very good).

It did have the best Bond theme though.

It was definitely a different sort of Bond ending. It looked gorgeous, it was nice seeing that guy playing the groundskeeper, and the amount of references packed into the last 2 minutes before the credits rolled was impressive.

something something not that impressive because I live in a place as gorgeous.

no actually that's something I noted - I like Scotland because it's very similar to southwestern Norway. Surprisingly.

Correlation is not causation and all that, but interesting nonetheless.
Renaud had written 52 essays in total. Eleven were set in Times New Roman, 18 in Trebuchet MS, and the remaining 23 in Georgia. The Times New Roman papers earned an average grade of A-, but the Trebuchet papers could only muster a B-.

And the Georgia essays? A solid A.

Maybe I just don't like that style of architecture? I really don't see what other people are seeing. It's a dark, stone house, with no people on a giant flat plain.

At night. So you can't see more then about ten feet and everything is shaded blue.

The only thing about Skyfall that caught me off guard was how personal the story was

the last time Bond got real personal we got "all the time in the world"

which is a movie moment far more painful than what you'd expect from this franchise, though I totally called
    M's death

Casino Royale is still my favorite Bond and it's a little disappointing to me that Quantum and Skyfall didn't quite live up to it. Skyfall was good in that it set up the Bond that we know, but I don't really agree with all the praise that it gets.

I need to watch Goldeneye again sometime. I haven't seen it in years and it was my favorite Bond until Casino Royale.

Looks like I might be getting that 30k house and fixing the shit out of it. Gonna make it art.

I'm thinking about picking up a pretty cheap place as well, do some work on it. It's absolutely insane how high rents still are with how absurdly cheap houses are. I could do 15 years fixed and have the mortgage on a small 2/2 be half of the rent on a similarly sized apartment, hell, just a bit more than half of what a studio runs around here, although they're uncommon. Property taxes aren't that bad either, although homeowners insurance rates suck.

It's crazy because the house is probably worth 160,000. Needs about 30-40k worth the work. If that. Needs new doors, new windows, possibly insulation and a remodeled bathroom and new floors.

I could probably yank out the carpets and fix the doors in a week.

Still need to petition my trustee to write a letter of approval for a home loan. Though I don't see why someone wouldn't loan me that money, I mean I've been employed at the same place for almost a decade, make more than enough to cover it, and would be saving $400 a month just in raw rent costs (including the property tax). Plus the 30K covers the repairs so it's unlikely something glaring would happen in the future.

Yeah, I'm mostly just concerned that something has to be wrong with these houses I'm looking at with these prices, or it's just nobody is buying. Like, 50k for an admittedly tiny bungalow in a decent neighborhood that's about a mile from my work. 50k for a not quite as nice but significantly larger place in a slightly less desirable location. What secrets do you hold that keep people from buying you.
