Flash moved out of defensive position as Life brought ~80 speedlings and ~20 banelings into his natural and third for a massive bust and got annihilated.

No he pretty much stood there and took it. Which to me reads as a frustration thing because as soon as the lings got into the base and his army was out of position against the bust the game was over.
That has to be the single worst way to lose a finals game in a tournament, really. Just flat-out forgetting to raise your depots. I saw them all down as he was moving out, and I was like "gee, I really hope he doesn't oh dear."
Although with his whole army outside his base, I'm not sure if he could have held it off anyway. I'm notoriously bad at estimating how much zerglings/banelings can accomplish, though.

That many banelings could bust a depot and have enough left to kill the marines easily.

I haven't sat down and just watched an SC2 tournament all the way through in years. Is it normal for them to be this consistently bonkers across like every bracket?

No. Then again, I think that's because there's a backbone of safety learned in WoL, but there aren't The Builds yet.
Ooh. This is gonna be a long one. Three hatch before pool!

I am more and more coming around to the mode of thinking that things like 3hatch before pool is economic cheese. Because it's a high risk, high reward play.

it's not all that risky when you scout cc first
That's eco cheese too!
Keep in mind I don't attach a negative connotation to cheese, it just refers to high risk/high reward plays.
On stream, now playing Bust Two: Electric Boogaloo.

I don't know how completely you have to hold that to not be behind after it. a 4th and mutas popping after an enormous attack filled with banes.
Also, jesus is Life looking amazing. Ling baneling muta apparently never goes out of style.

And the supply depot

Banelings did horrible horrible damage.
Okay, actually Life just dominated because Flash had a bad move-out timing, but you know, banelings man. BANELINGS.
he didn't, was probably splitting the scvs in the nat or something
don't know that he holds either way but that piece could certainly have gone much better
You had me at Banelings.

Well, mostly.

I'm not an expert, but "three hatcheries before pool and then a fourth macro hatchery for good measure" looked out of the ordinary to me.
it's working because it's a really strong timing... one that was strong in WoL as well
Thats a great one two punch. Lead with lings/banelings, then follow up with the mutas. ... Shit.
I feel like Flash could have done more with those hellions? Life's three hatch before pool was just not punished at all...
I don't think it matters when the Mutas come, no one was asleep cause the lings kept knocking at the door and leaving flaming bags of dog poo corpses.
Ooh, trick-or-treaters!
NOPE IT WAS JUST ZERGLINGS HAPPY HALLOWEEN MOTHERFUCKER
Well if so I hope Life is going to be a little more active on the scouting
