They're making a playstation app that'll let your tablet/phone work as a second screen to display things like a map (which is probably what 90% of Wii U developers are going to do anyway). That's pretty neat.
Launch games typically aren't that great. Every system may have a couple notable exceptions, but its going to take about 1-2 years before we start seeing 'the real shit'. I always feel it is unfair to compare the end lifespan titles of a console with the launch titles of another.
Also PS killzone is an enjoyable romp eff the haters. KZ2 multi was really well handled
well it might be different this time around because of how developer friendly it is being marketed as being
The 360 was developer friendly too, it was still mostly an Uno/Geometry Wars box for its first year of existence. It wasn't until Gears that it got its first real signature game.
CoD 2 was a relatively small deal but it solidified the series as an Xbox mainstay and got people more interested in that series pre-Halo 3. It was the killer app everyone forgot. Still my favorite CoD game.
Hey now, let's not forget what we all bought it for: King Kong: The Game
Also, since Watchdogs is now for PS4, I'm hoping that means it will be for Xbox Durango too, assuming that launches this year as well.

It will be. Ubisoft isn't one to miss a console launch - the "good" version will be on PC/Durango/PS4, with PS3 and 360 getting something more like what we see with AC. It'll be interesting to see the contrast.
people keep saying they said it's in the same universe but I can't find where they actually said that
Well, if you watch the giantbomb ps4 thing, during it Brad Shoemaker claims that Capcom announced that. and they seem to be sure enough of this claim that it's on the wiki page.
Could easily be wrong, but rumours spread faster than the truth.

I thought they said that Deep Down was a new IP though.
i can't stop thinking about it for some reason, but i can't think of why. The graphics are amazing, but that goofy little translucent micro-HUD was weird. When the elf-looking guy with the bow shoots the explosive arrow at the dragon, the hud is on the right. Then it goes back to heavily armored guy, and it is on the left.
I really hope it is going to be four player co-op campaign. The campfire recalled Dark Souls, but holy shit there were other characters here! And then they went off adventuring together! there was talk of the ps4 being some sort of social hub. I hope that means more co-op.
the ps4 and the xbox... 1440? need to make friends list match-making work. I don't play a ton of games, but I have only seen one series that really succeeds at letting you play with your friends-- goddamned Call of Duty. You just open a menu, move over to the friends tab, and either send an invite or join them.
if i squint at the armored guy's helmet long enough, it resembles a metal onion
well, as the abridged version of the press conference points out "DRAGONS!" as well it is a low fantasy looking setting that still has elves and a shitty wizard.
As for the hud elements, i'm thinking you're controlling both at the same time that's why they're on the screen at the same time and each character has a different side. So it might have tactical play with your switching between duders.
Really, i just like fantasy stuff and dragons and the idea that the game is about monster hunting is something i love.
Also it reminded me of dragon's dogma, largely because it is capcom, and that was one of the most fun games i played in 2012.
whoa, that is a neat concept, a real twist on the apparent rpg thing of controlling several characters
i don't play hardly any rpgs, so i don't know for sure that is a thing, but my one room mate played... ogre battle? and a buddy of mine used to try convincing me to play final fantasy

I'm hoping Deep Down is co-op, and that's what the request for help in the trailer was about.
Oh yeah, our console will do all of this amazing stuff!! Eventually, I guess!! Should be great!!
That is exactly what they said at the press conference? They specifically had qualifiers about when all of that stuff would actually be on the system and never said it would be available at launch.
Oh. Well I didn't watch the stream and none of the coverage I read afterwards said anything about it. Everything else I said stands though, I don't think it's cool to lay on talk about awesome features that will be available sometime? Maybe?
At least they're being honest about it. Saying 'Maybe this will happen' now is better than 'We already got your money, tough shit' a year or so from now.
The only bits of Deep Down that looked like gameplay was when they were walking forward in the cave. Everything else looked pre-rendered with some hud elements slapped on. I'm not buying that's how the game plays.

The stream implied that the PS3/2/1 Gaikai streaming would be visited at a later date. To have the core Gaikai pieces not in the core box is going to burn them, hard. Way more than having the TVii icon on the Wii U burned people.
This gets worse when you consider that the PS4 is going to have a dedicated hardware chip inside it that powers the Gaikai features (and the sharing encoding/decompression). To have that chip not be fully functional at launch just strikes me as another example of them throwing everything but the kitchen sink in and hoping it works.
it pretty much looked like a cinematic trailer with generic "HUD" elements slapped onto it in places to make it seem like a gameplay thing because gameplay can look like this now?

MGS3 is the best in the series, and pretty much standalone.
2 is a deconstruction of 1 and 4 is just fucking wacko.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Hilariously, 2 was the first Metal Gear game I played.
So all of Kojima's meta points went over my head.

what could they not even go through the trouble of adding a health bar or something

being rational and cynical has no place in wild speculation.

Apropos, the InFamous: Second Son trailer was apparently in-game, using gameplay assets.
I loved MGS1. Played the shit out of the demo until the game hit, then played that several times through.
A friend of mine got MGS2, and I watched him play most of it. Hated whatever the fuck that plot was supposed to be, and didn't like Raiden, so I didn't bother with MG anymore after that.

But non-leg based locomotion makes more sense than leg-based locomotion

Yeah but that's the point of a mecha game.
They aren't supposed to make sense they are supposed to look cool.
blugh blah blurgh giant robots don't make any sense anyways regardless of whether they have treads or legs

sort of a 'we reckon we can do this, sometime in the future. It'll be awesome'

which is the main reason why the PS3 online experience could not compete with Xbox Live despite being free
In summation metal gear is great

need to bust out my ps2 someday and replay it
although buying the HD version would be worth it too.

It's basically the first one but bigger, cooler, and in the jungle during the Cold War
I love 2 and 4 but they are preeeeeeetty weird
http://www.audioentropy.com/
now sure how it would actually play though
I don't actually know how the first one plays because I've only played twin snakes
http://www.audioentropy.com/
best dumb idea i got is one control stick for each, d-pad acts at the buttons on the other side, shoulder buttons make them attack.
