I hope my obsidian usage is not too garish for Bellowdim
The floor inside is black and white checker board.
Still major Work in Progress. (no roof yet)
BTW I'm setting up an obsidian order board next to my house in the SW by the crater. I know people hate mining the stuff and I don't mind it. Once Pandemonium is accessible I'll have ample supply.
I'm a bit busy with life but I am willing to help gather reasonable orders from non-lava sources.
I'm guessing Netherrack in the fire pits there? Where did you find it?
Netherrack is the rare item in the Mushroom Jungle. It what was used to fix the teleporter I'd assume he either found some there or got some from the heart that was broken.
Nope, two birch logs. Fire does not consume on the server.
Handkor, your obsidian fire pits are so pretty my wife stole the idea for her offline world.
Really, it was just something simple I threw together. I love the glass panes though. Iron bars would work well too. My original idea was to make fountains with fire in the center.
congrats to zeayta for doing the work on the north wall and providing the template for the tower construction, it looks very impressive and any aggressors will give pause when they see it.
now the second problem is extending the wall towards the west.
I want to keep the waterfall going down the staircase, and so altering the flow forward could work.
I am also a fan of minimalist defenses that provide the same benefit as an entire wall. I have no idea how tall the obsidian creepers are, but using the lay of the land, The plateau provides excellent forifications already. Do we want to just keep extending the wall, or do we cut it at a 90 degree angle and build the wall off the plateau a little bit?
My argument for cutting it at 90 degrees means that we can contain an army at the staircase and skybridge area as a big ol' murder box.
Also, having a perceived weakness in the wall at the waterfall is a good ''flow point'' for the enemy army. They push towards that, only to be shot by a turret on the west side of the waterfalls along with the treacherous footing of a cascading waterfall.
then again, I may just be reading too much into this and going overboard.
Might end up redoing some of the wall when i get back on sunday, we'll see... I didnt think of it when i started but, there is a lot of free space outside the wall currently.
It's a little weird before you get used to it. Placing stairs/halfslabs on the bottom of blocks places it upside down. You can also place them on the top half of the sides.
In multi they sometimes bug out and place on the wrong orientation. Makes laying a floor of them frustrating, but it should be doable. It's how I placed most of the stone slab floors in HQ
I'd recommend going into creative mode and practicing laying down stairs and half slabs upside down to get the hang of it before wasting time making mistakes in survival mode. Also, I found if you aim at the upper half of a block that's lateral to the one you're placing, it'll turn it upside down
So just to confirm: We still need to find one Heart, and one trader, correct?
How many hearts have we found so far?
1 So far. It was in the mushroom jungle, that leaves "UberDark" "Oversea/Undersea" and the "not-so-secret-cave" although im going to guess the heart for the "Under/Over-sea" is inside of the "not-so-secret-cave" I can't confirm it as of yet.
Sheez and I did do a lot of exploring of the "not-so-secret-cave" and didn't find anything yet.
With the way my exploring is going, as I've combed through the mushroom jungle, and have attempted to comb through the undersea, and i sure as hell DID comb through the over sea, It's either in the UberDark (the Bellowdim cave), or the mushroom jungle.
I'm going to cry when it's found due to me and sheez exploring so much of those areas before.
The hearts are tricky things. The one we did find was completely hidden by a layer of topsoil. I get the feeling they will require a little bit of digging to find.
Traders are just gonna be in tricky caves, probably one is in a ceiling somewhere.

I'm honestly starting to wonder if it was found and destroyed. Between the four (with Kebeh) of us, we've covered so much damn ground on this server, and the two traders that have been found, while not easily accessible, weren't particularly hidden (IE, didn't have to go randomly digging to find them, like you would the hearts).
Bellowdim is sitting on a giant plateau, right? I know we explored a pretty large cave system I ran into under my house and didn't find anything, but we started around level 40. Should I start exploring the upper levels? I wouldn't mind doing some digging.
There's also two (?) large spires up to the cave roof. Anyone explored the insides of those? I know when I was digging my way out of the cave system I ended up about 10 blocks up in one of them, and there were "ruins" inside the stone. Half blocks, stone bricks, etc mixed in. I did a cursory exploration and didn't find anything immediately, but I was excited to get out and get my findings safely home. That and I was down to 1 pick.
Someone (I don't know who!) found an incredibly small ravine underground just outside Bellowdim, near the lake. They carved an entirely minimal spiral staircase straight down to it, but it wasn't completely torched. If you know the place I'm talking about, I wanted to let you know: there's a connected cave system, I think you missed it because the only entrance was elevated at one end of the small chamber at the end of the ravine.
I'll post coordinates for the spiral staircase when I get on after work.
EDIT: The cave system is missing some gold, iron and coal now, by the way.

I'm not near the lake, but I'm curious if that cave system ties into the one we were exploring. I'd love to see the caves map for this game over time, see how we explored and what we've found.

I was the one who found the heart in the jungle and I didn't have to do any digging at all. For some reason I decided I wanted to see if there was any ores on the bottom of the river and I stumbled across a weird looking ravine that I followed to the end where there was a soulsand cave with the heart at the end.
I'm going to be getting on in a half hour or so. We can figure it prices then. I assume we are just going to use the official Underdark currency, gold and gravel?
I've been doing a quick core of the pillars I run across in the oversea, just in case. I haven't hit all of them, though.
Also, I think Kittens and I've checked out all of the anomalous places that we've run into in the secret cave. Still no heart, though.
I would imagine it would be in the undersea, and not the over.
Also, there are multiple tunnels that lead down into the undersea. You guys went through one to find the Pearl, but there is another in the SW region. I've got a little forward outpost built into a pillar there. It's something I intend to check out this weekend once I get some soil and food moved over to it.
There's no plan, there's no race to be run
The harder the rain, honey, the sweeter the sun.
I was thinking just using a theoretical "credits" system.
Like...all the items in this chest (example: carrots, smooth stone, birch wood) are worth 1 credit to buy or sell, all the items in that chest (example: iron ore, string, books) are worth 3 credits. So if you want a stack of something from the second chest, drop 3 stacks of stuff in the first one.
I'm not really looking to acquire anything in particular, just to diversify.
I would officially like to say i'm sick of the undersea.
Full blown sick of it.
I've spent more time in that biome than any other area in the server trying to find the heart, the initial trader, and the pearl.
Screw this...
I guess i do have something to show for it though.
Edit: Just a note, this is from spending at least 12 hours in that goddamn biome.
Double Edit: I'm going to stop mining all of the things down there, i think im set for a while now... You guys have fun!
So what's the best, safest place to get a look at the Undersea? I'd be interested in helping to "tame" it a bit.
I suggest you go to the pearl and do the sea-floor shuffle to explore and find the large glass orbs. Basically mini pearls.
Think of the sea-floor shuffle as.. placing blocks down, and then either ladders signs or torches on those blocks for air.
Low on wood? use torches. It's my go-to item, pretty great.
Also, to those who let me know Optifine lets you turn off the sky, stars, sun, and moon, thank you so much. The blackness of the cave in the distance looks perfect.

Now don't get me wrong, I love lording over you peons as you scurry about beneath the Dim Star.
But srsly. We're living in a bunch of cobble huts.
Except HQ, duke did a good job there.

At least it's not as weird as stair orientation.
Debating between working on my house or trekking out into the dark.

I dug a little pathway after the fact so I wouldn't have to swim back to it, but other than that the entrance hasn't been touched.
