Also, to those who let me know Optifine lets you turn off the sky, stars, sun, and moon, thank you so much. The blackness of the cave in the distance looks perfect.
It also lets you switch to a previous version of water that was a lot clearer. I'm all for the craziness of the underdark but it's sorta majestic down there and vanilla water won't let you see twenty meters in front of you.

I moved my chest out of the HQ. I didn't realize things had changed so rapidly!
Sorry about that Carcass, I quickly checked the rooms one day and didn't see your chest and thought everyone moved out. I sorta went crazy that night before finishing the general layout of the place.
Also I need advice. I'm not sure about the spaces in the walls on the floor with the Dim Star on it. I want it to be plainly visible from outside but I'm not entirely happy with the half finished direction I've taken it.
City of Ember? I've been kind of doing my own thing in the Bellowdim cave (Uberdark? I need a peek at the map again), what have you folks been finding?
I've been in the same cave system for like 4 hours now, was on my way to the exit (I hope) when the server went down for maintenance.
Jeebus fucking Crust.
(On the bright side, I'm bringing out the equivalent of two stacks of iron and about a half stack of gold, plus emeralds, lapis, and a fuckton of coal.)

So thats who you are! I had no idea who you were when you joined the server at first. Yeah i was lucky enough to be in the world mushroom... Then again, i have been DC'd in the undersea before.
Still havent drowned in there, i think it deserves an achievement.
A note to any spelunkers in the jungle area: if you spend longer than 20 minutes in a cave system, I'd probably bet $100 you'll run into my exploration. I dropped so many torches down there the creepers are calling me Lightbringer.
Just because it's torched doesn't mean it's completely or even MOSTLY stripped. I left a lot of ore behind because I was prioritizing the stuff I could get without too much engineering.
Also I brought back nine buckets of lava for a project.
The cave system under Bellowdim is probably 70% mined at the north stairs, and as you go further east its about 30% all the way to the lake I believe.
Its a fucking honeycomb down there. I've tried to cut off tunnels and such, but I'd basically be filling in a 3D space completely at this point.
I got enough iron ore in one expedition that I think I might permanently upgrade to iron pickaxes for exploration. (city buildings is still stone picks, though)
Just reading what you guys are doing is tempting me to apply to join up. It'll be nice to be just a regular player rather than the one who's hosting the server...
I presume just stock standard clients? Or are you running server/client side mods as well?

I've been closing off stripped / resource empty deadends down there as well. If anyone runs into a sloppy cobble cross that has darkness beyond underneath Bellowdim, there's probably nothing worth noting down there.
Also, found my way to the Obsidian creepers last night... we need bigger walls.
Ember is basically just an excuse to build with some old fire nation buddies. If more people want to build there great, if not its just me, nair, Writzbitz, and Doc building random shit in our corner of the world

Is there some reason people seem to be splitting up into the old NAW nations? And more important, why is it working on me?
What is the idea behind Ember? What stile are you guys going for?
Also, I'm completely winning my internal battle to not pester Vic to read my PM about white listing me.
It'd not so much factional splitting or anything like that as much as these are people we know and play games with. In the case Water Nation (I keep scolding them to get a new/proper name) we get along and know each really well. Play lots of other games together and hangout outside of MC.
That said, UD was plenty present back in NAW too. A lot of people who played in the last UD went Water Nation so we had a lot of nostalgia going on back in Season 1.
A tattered piece of parchment, spotted with blood, hangs beside the jobs board at Bellowdim Headquarters...
It's located just inside the wall of the mushroom jungle. You can't miss it, it's the building shaped like a bucket. There's a chest on the left full of various liquids, and a chest on the right for empty buckets/donations of other materials.
Take as many buckets as you want for your projects, but bring them back when you're done and drop them off in the chest on the right if they're empty, the chest on the left if you refilled them yourself. I'll refill any empty ones that get dropped off.
This is a service, not a store, so I'm not putting a price on using it. If, however, you find the service useful and want to help out, here's some suggestions:
1) If you have some time and feel like making a bucket-filling run, feel free to grab the empty ones out of the drop-off chest and go fill 'em up.
2) Got a few extra iron ingots? Make an empty bucket and drop it off. We'll inevitably lose some because people will die with them in distant lands, so it'd help to have some backups.
3) Every bucket I fill down in the caves is a slot in my inventory that can't hold coal, iron, etc. So if you want to donate raw materials for me to use in my home and other projects, it would be appreciated (but, again, not expected).
Reminds me of my 9th grade school vacation to Rome, where everybody in my class was handed McDonalds maps of the city. These maps mostly focused on placing the restaurants of cause, and navigation was helped by the fact that Rome is an ancient city with laws protecting the looks of the city so that the you really couldn't spot even a McDonalds at much more then a shop or twos distance.
Let's just say the ones with actual maps became very popular.

Not a problem. I didn't know that building was going to become an HQ. It just kind of seemed like a "claim a room dormitory", so I found an empty room and stuck my stuff in there, just to have somewhere to put it, and didn't log on again until last night. I didn't have much, just some wood I had salvaged from a nearby ruin. I put most of that stuff in the public storage chests since I have no idea what I'm going to do at the moment.
Now that people are mentioning the alliances thing... Is there even any air nation people on the server? Or are they just keeping quiet to hide themselves from the fire and pitchforks

The only reason we're really going with the nations was because it was a server before and more people started to know eachother from that. Its not actually a "nation" thing, more of a small group of people we just play games with.
Like emp said, im sure we're going to change the name soon.
Ok, I'm convinced now that I certainly don't have too much to do with my time. Could I please get a whitelist @Vic or @Empirical?
Done.

So I decided to check out the Dim Star. Was marked as someone's place, but with something like that floating overhead you've gotta expect some foot traffic.
Naturally, I wasn't the first one there.

OK, so let's talk about things we need to do that require not just resource sharing, but actual coordination:
1. There are huge deposits of sand near the Obsidian Creepers. Like, we'd have enough glass to live forever if we harvested that shit. But the problem is, that's a long way to go, through what basically amounts to one large mob farm. I propose that we either mount an expedition where several of us go together and haul back the sand, or several of us can build a lit, fenced pathway that direction so that people can go visit whenever they want.
2. The Undersea needs to be tamed. I have no idea what resources this would require or how to proceed, but it seems like the sort of thing a group could/should do together.
3. There are still traders to be found. How should we do that? Are there any suspicions about their locations?

Good ole human nature! People have a seeimingly built-in propensity to form factions and sub groups, even among small populations.

make sure to type out the name of the server. if you copy/pasted it, minecraft likes to put spaces in front and behind the server address
