Right, so a guy in the Air Nation (I think it was AceJon? Can't remember, it was a while ago) had an idea on how to manipulate the Fire Nation into doing what he wanted. He built this gigantic grand temple underneath their base on the main continent and left signs declaring himself as "Ignis", and gave them commands. This was rather fitting in with the admin assigned tasks we'd already dealt with earlier in the season, so the Fire Nation figured it was commands from up high.

Some of the other Air Nation guys started "accidentally" talking about something called Aero in global chat (Though to be honest, I don't think anyone noticed) and the charade continued on. Eventually, after a few non-important tasks like not wearing iron boots inside the temple and other nonsense, Ace had Ignis command that the Fire Nation break off their ties with the Water Nation (they had a very strong alliance at the time) and a very vague message about keeping the Earth Nation to their caves. The Fire Nation took this to mean that they can do something about the Water guys later, they're cool for now, but the Earth guys are fucked.

It led to a systematic demolition of almost every Earth Nation structure on the mainland and non-stop slaughter, since the Fire Nation basically won every goddamn fight ever. After it happened, all the Ignis threads from both the Fire Nation and Air Nation private forums were made public and Ace was given a minor suspension.

A lot of people were upset at the time, which is understandable, but holy fuck it was funny.

Afterwards, every nation pretty much simultaneously declared war on the Air Nation. In the next season, pretty much every nation declared war on Ace's nation at some point or another.

I had stopped playing at the time, but as I have herd it Air wanted to remove their mainland base on the ground and build one that floated. Ace though it might be a good idea to get Fire nation to do all the hard work of removing the existing base and gave a cryptic message about removing Air taint from the mainland.

Fire then assumed that the scorched earth policy also encompassed Earth since they were allies of Air, end then they went to town on both Air and Earth's structures.

Of cause Earth didn't really know anything about that order, and were kinda upset.

Also, the secret Ignis chamber that Ace made was partly made up of obsidian, which he had a Earth dude place since they were the only ones allowed to use obsidian. I'm guessing that this didn't help Earths mood any that one of their own had been asked to initially help, and then it ends up hurting them.

I have just added the plugin Physicalshop to the Underdark server. This allows players to set up their own shops! The instructions, ripped from the plugin page, are as follows:

    Usage:
Place sign on wall above where chest will be. Write on first line item name or number, enclosed with []s. You may also add a sub-code using a : (colon).
On the second line, you may write "Buy X for Xc". Replace the Xs with the respective amounts that a user will buy from the shop for. Replace the c with the letter code for applicable currency (g for gold nuggets, G for gold ingots).
On the third line, you may write "Sell X for Xc". Replace the Xs with the respective amounts that a user will sell to the shop for. Replace the c with the letter code for applicable currency (g for gold nuggets, G for gold ingots).
The fourth line fills automatically. Users with admin permissions (or, in the case of none-permissions users, Ops) may write [Server]. A [Server] shop without a chest has an infinite amount of stock & currency.
Place chest below sign. You may put anything in the chest, but for the shop to work you must place the applicable item and/or currency.
Punch the sign to confirm it was set up properly.
Player may right-click the sign with applicable currency in-hand to buy from the shop.
Player may also right-click the sign with applicable item to sell to the shop.

For an example, to make a store where players can sell mushroom soup to get golden nuggets, write the following (with - denoting an empty line):

    [Mushroom_soup]
    -
    Sell 1 for 1g
    -

Water Nation was lovely, if a bit confusing to navigate. I believe that was intentional though? We certainly had trouble finding all your shit when we invaded. Air took the approach of "No walls or railings and hope to god we knock them off" which kinda worked, but mostly we relied on our ridiculous machine gun bows.

Yeah it was basically intentional. It was hard to navigate for me even when i had been there since the first day, and i had helped building a lot of the structures.

I fondly remember going south and saying "wait.... the storage is to the north" and then turning around, and then realizing that no, infact, the storage was to the south.

God i hated navigating that place, but man was it beautiful.

Yeah, remember we had no wood except for sticks. One stick would drop from every 20 or so cacti we broke, so we spent hours planting and grinding cacti just for tools. We didn't have sticks to spare on frivolities like torches, so we placed netherrack everywhere and lit it on fire for light. Only a mild fire hazard. Also, we used dispensers for storage because we did not have enough wood for chests.

Also, we had ZERO grass on the island, so no passive mob spawns, so no food, so we just suicided all the time if we got low on health.

Considering that literally all we had to work with on our island was sand, gravel, stone and netherrack (and fire), I think we did a damn good job making it look nice. It certainly fit the theme, anyway.

Looking back at those trailers, it's crazy how far builders have progressed in minecraft from then. Two years ago nothing like this had been done before (to my knowledge), that landscape was the best-crafted that anyone had made and publicised, and the skill of builders we had (especially in water and air nations) were some of the best playing the game. Now, with the advent of FAR better world editing tools like voxel sniper (that landscape was largely made by hand) and much more experience, it looks rather small and quaint.

Know PA related Servers are listed on the bottom of the OP.

Of NAW, SE++, and UD each use a wide range of language and both will and do speak on a wide range of topics that you may not find suited for your child.

I, however, cannot speak for HeroCraft (I believe they have a no cursing policy, I am unsure. They do require an application last I had heard but it should not be particularly difficult). This is also a modded pvp server and is probably not the kind of play you're son is looking for.

I can also not speak for Phoenix Smasher's which does not appear to have a whitelist. I have absolutely no idea what kind of place this one is, nor what goes on there.

I am unsure you'll find a suitable PA server for one so young.

I was so pissed with Air Nation on day one of the second week for damaging Steve (the massive tree in Water Nation) that I was literally going to take all our sand and gunpowder and blow them to fucking hell. Note, for whatever reason Water Nation had an.... unproportional amount of creepers so we had an absurd amount of gun powder (Ein/Shadow commented on the creeper ratio as well).

Note: This screenshot was taken during the testing of a something we had created that would store mobs in a large room and then on command be released into the water as a defense mechanism.

Air Nation only lost by one point from what I was told, it was a DAMN close call. There were two things that stuck out in Water that swung the vote:

    1) We were revamping our whole lighting system by reducing torch pollution. This was down by swapping out Wood Plank blocks with backwards facing stairs and placing torchs 'behind' them. As well as under the stairs. At this point in the game, light shined through stairs like it was glass, if you load up NAW 1 and go into the main stair well leading up to the tallest mountain just go and pop any of the 'wood plank' blocks and you'll see. Sadly this no longer works.

    2) The night before, Water had been an entire shit storm of re-modeling projects that were hardly finished but in the finally day we slept little and fixed all of that within the fleeting few hours we had.

Air nation was like 90% cobble though, although impressive.

We were later told by the judges that the tiebreaker between Air and Water was the fact that our central mountain, which had been basically a giant stone pit the night before judging, got completely terraformed overnight into a lush garden. We won because we were dedicated.

The cobblestone in Air was intentional, to give the feeling that it was old and crumbling and fit in with our funky backstory. Granted maybe we used a biiiit too much of it. I do remember being really weird out when someone built a giant wooden house floating all over the islands. It was just...weird. Luckily it was replaced with a lot of cobble :P

It's littered around our forums, so it'll be hard to find any one post/thread dedicated to it. At the moment we're in a hibernation period because we're all busy with work/school/moving and so on. That said we're looking at a bit of a mixture of S2 and S1, as a simple comparison.

As of what is being done now, code is on hold till we have that wretched API. Map side, mostly planning stage as we've been too busy but there is a little be that has been worked on. Starter city is coming along though, looks nice too.

Having one pop into your house because its raining, and stare at you as you try to sleep in the bed is also disturbing

Holy crap this server is amazing! I just got on today, and have started an inverted castle south of the spawn. It shouldn't be too hard to miss.
Also, is there a way to get rid of clouds?

Water Nation won the "Best Capital" award but it totally should've gone to Air. Fire just fucked around burned to death constantly. Literally the chat log whenever they were doing some was
    "X burned to death
    Y burned to death
    Z burned to death
    X burned to death"
    like non-stop.

It has to be said that we didn't use torches and that we had no food. This was before stamina, so when we got low on health we suicided.

Your also forgetting to insert at least one guy from Earth getting hacked to death with a pickaxe.

@Joe K the SE++ server has a history of a few kids playing and has been pretty good about using PG-13 language when they are online. It IS an online game, so it's not perfect.

Mining the cacti was made a little difficult because my pyramid cast a huge shadow and spawned a bunch of creepers.
