...so, it's not far away, coming in about month or two. Who else is really hyped? Spider-Man 2 on PS3 remains one of the most entertaining games I have ever played, and I can't wait to see what they do with next-gen systems. The city is supposed to be multiple times larger from what I have seen in the forums of the official site, in fact, even the PS2 version of the game is 2,5 times the size of Manhattan. They have improved the webswinging from SM2, and the graphics look pretty great too...
It's actually one of my Top 3 must-have games right now. It's probably partly because I am a huge Spider-Man fan too...but the game looks nice.
I loved Spiderman 2 but the "sequal" with Venom was just lame lame lame. Ultimate Spiderman was it? Terrible game. All the interesting bits were gone after the first boss and then I blinked and it was over.

I'll hold out and see reviews for this one first.
They are doing it in Spdier-Man 2 style - check out the trailers and images.

TEH BLOXXED
I have to rely on word of mouth- or, I guess, tip of finger information.
Everytime I pick one of these games up I have almost no interest in the campaign and just end up swinging thru the city for an hour.
But man is swinging thru the city fun as hell.
Well, the campaign is also supposed to be more interesting this time...with boss fights having God of War styled cool button-pressing combos. Here is the gameplay trailer, anyway:
I can't wait. This is going to fill my summer. I'm crossing my fingers that they pull every graphical bit possible out of the Wii for this one. My fear is that being so used to playing Spider-man the way 1,2, and Ultimate were structured will keep me from enjoying a new control scheme, but I guess (according to the developer) they reworked all of the controls, so it will be different on all consoles.
Spider-Man 2 was a nice game, but dicking around town was more fun than any mission really. And repetitive "side missions" has been stated numerous times, and the developers say they are working on the. Combat was fun, if I recall correctly so they just need to tighten up some of the main storyline stuff, give us a bit more compelling side missions and life is good.

Mysterio was he best boss fight.
Yeah, when I could finally GET to him! Stupid webslinging to Statue of Liberty UGH
You know, that gameplay video really lacked the number of people I'd want in the game, I want like hundreds of people on screen at once, though that may be asking a bit much from last gen hardware, but I wouldn't think so on current gen.

In all the videos I've seen the cars aren't moving on the streets yet either. Which I'm assuming means the cities aren't quite done yet.
Guys, I really don't know if I'm feeling this one.
The city looks too big. Spidey doesn't even look like he's swinging anymore - more like slowly floating along. And the combat system looks more retarded and unwieldy than the previous two. Also, I don't see how spinning around super fast like Storm in X-Men 3 is a more "sinister" fighting style.
I never understood how they went from the insanely fun, pretty realistic considering its unrealistic, web-slinging from 2 and turned it into the slow-ass drudgery from Ultimate. Hopefully they won't fuck it up or it'll just prove S2 was a fluke.
I'm interested to know how the New Goblin handles in the PS3 version - the kid don't swing... he flies! That alone should be an interesting game mechanic.
It was much more fun in S2 though. And I'm glad to hear that they're using a version of the mechanics from that game. I never really liked the web zip in ultimate, and the physics to shoot a line at a buildings corner and fast shot around were nowhere near as good as in 2.
I personally don't dig rumble too much (as mentioned previously it makes my hands "buzz") but I'm interested in the motion controls. I'm interested to know if they're Goblin specific or if it'll have an impact on how Spidey swings. If so, can I turn it off if I don't like it?
These are the questions... that I asked the publisher earlier today We'll see how timely the response is.

I'm hyped for this, I think I'm the only one I know who likes Ultimate Spider-man over Spider-man 2. Some reasons included:
-simplified swing mechanics yes but once you get used to it its a blast. S-M2 was a tad too complicated.
-Venom is pretty fun to use.
-No delivering Pizza
-Get to eat the kid with the stupid baloon (as Venom). :^:
-I'm a fan of the comic book so I wigged out when I heard that Bendis did the story and Bagley did the concept art.
Still there are reasons to not like it:
-lack of Bruce Campbell
-no upgrade system
-combat system not as deep as SM2
-Manhattan is slightly smaller (prolly cuz of the fact you can swing in Queens)
-the chase scenes, oh gosh the chase scenes!
Now if they can fix the above in Spider-man 3, I'm sold. I do wonder though, is the Second Green Gobin only available in the PS3 collector's edition and not any other ports?

possibly because sony own the rights to the movie or something?

Not wondering why, just if he is available in any other version.
I had no problems with USM's swing mechanics, even though SM2's were better. I thought USM was a great game, just really short. I'm surprised there isnt a sequel yet. Next year, I suppose.

Well, the Xbox version of the first Spider-Man movie game had a few Kraven the Hunter levels that werent in the GC or the PS2 versions. So figure that out.

I guess it is a bit short, I tend to overlook that because of the crazy high amount of stuff you can collect and unlock after you finish the story.
Personally, I want to see how they're going to cram such a large city into the PSP version. Pretty sure they mentioned it's bigger that Vice City Stories.
It was just insanely short. I'm not talking about Kingdom Hearts 2 "oh we're doing the same stuff over again" short or "Mario 3 is really short when you use the warp whistle" short. I mean "Hey Pokemon Snap is a fun--wait, it's over?" short.
USM just sort of...ended. One minute, I was fighting Venom in a tedious boss fight, the next minute Peter is chilling with Mary Jane and reflecting on how amazing the adventure was. That wasn't an amazing adventure, Parker! That was the video game equivalent of going with friends to the store. Sure, it can be fun, but it's not the same thing as going to a concert or something. The game needed another year in development.

Web swinging? Yes please!

Ultimate Spider-Man sucked, I agree.

Totally. And that Hulk game. Man, running around with your fists jammed up the poop chute of a Volvo and then kicking a building over?
Yes, please.
100's of witty sayings/one liners
Your save records which ones you've heard, and DOESN'T replay them.
Seriously, the same phrases over and over, ugh.
That's the boxart for the PS3 version - which has the exclusive feature of being able to play the entire game as the New Goblin. - Pretty swank.
I've also got boxart up for the DS and the PSP version - they're all slightly different riffs on the same theme, but it's still pretty cool.

And yes...swinging is indeed fun as hell. And man, I would KILL for next-gen Hulk game. KILL in cold blood.
Awesome, thanks. I hope that we get the collectors edition in Europe...
Super jump is so win.
I never had dreams that I could fly, just dreams that I could jump crazy high and far

(Look at the size of the city!)
You would liek Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, then

Edit: Oh wait, I just remembered who the bad-guys are in the movie...
